Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 314

Chapter 314

The female employee was stunned.

Thinking she had mistyped something, she checked it once again, then clicked to confirm that the

information was correct. However, the result was still the same.

“Huh?” she murmured in confusion. She proceeded to look up Justin's name in the system and pulled

up the records on his marriage registration.

“This...”

She stared at the laptop screen disbelievingly, then nudged the male employee next to her. Her voice

trembled as she asked, “I-Is there something wrong with my eyes? Could you help me take a look at

this?”

When he glanced at the screen, his jaw dropped.

“T-This... Sir, please come and have a look at this. Something doesn't seem quite right about Mr.

Xuereb's records.”

The person in charge felt his heart lurch, and an ominous feeling descended over him.

He strode over to stand behind the two employees. When he saw what was on the screen, his face

paled.

How can this be? T-This... How is this possible? Why is there someone else's name in the box for Mr.

Xuereb's spouse's name? Why does it show that he's already married?

“Have you made a mistake?”

The female employee pressed her lips together, then answered in a shaky voice, “No. That's

impossible. Look. It has Mr. Xuereb's photo here. How could it be a mistake?”

“She's right. There's even City Hall's official seal on it. There's no way it's a mistake.”

The person in charge was silent, and his knees started to buckle.

It was supposed to be the perfect opportunity to curry favor. As long as everything went well, Ms.

Fletcher would forever remember how I was of help to her. But now, what was supposed to be a happy

event has turned into a nightmare. Who knows whether she'll have my head if she learns that we've

helped Mr. Xuereb process a marriage registration before this?

“What's going on?” Scarlett asked in a low voice.

She was no fool, and their strange behavior did not escape her notice.

The person in charge gulped before asking uncomfortably, “M-Ms. Fletcher, there seems to be a

problem with our system. I'm afraid we won't be able to record your details today. How about I

personally make a trip to your house tomorrow to settle this for you?”

Scarlett snorted coldly. Do they truly take me for a pampered and naive princess who doesn't

understand how cunning people can be?

“Hand me the laptop.”

“That—”

Scarlett could not be bothered to waste time talking nonsense. She grabbed the laptop and lowered her

gaze to look at the screen. Then, her pretty face started contorting with fury.

What the heck did I just read? Married? Veronique? Justin and Veronique have already applied for a

marriage certificate. He already married that b*tch! Then why did he drag me all the way to City Hall? Is

it so that we can make a fool of ourselves?

“Justin, you... You...”

Justin's brows drew together sharply when he saw the information displayed on the screen.

When did Veronique and I get married? Why don't I know that happened?

Amid his confusion, he also felt joy bubbling within him.

Nonetheless, it's neither the time nor the place to provoke Scarlett. After all, Zephyr is still waiting for

her bone marrow so that he can be saved.

“That wasn't me. If it were, I wouldn't have brought you here. Lettie, we've known each other for years.

You know I wouldn't be so mean to you, right?”

Scarlett took a deep breath. Then, tossing the laptop onto the table, she glared at the person in charge

and uttered through clenched teeth, “Did you hear that? Mr. Xuereb says he has never been here to

register a marriage. So, explain why Veronique's name appears as my fiancé’s spouse. If you fail to

clear things up, you can sit and wait to get investigated for dereliction of duty.”

The man staggered and plopped onto a chair.

I don't doubt that she'll carry out her threat. If she says I'll be investigated and punished for dereliction

of duty, I'll definitely end up in prison.

“G-Give me three days. No, one day! Just one day will do. I'll get to the bottom of this and give you a

satisfactory answer.”

Scarlett's expression darkened, and she looked as though she wanted to continue berating him.

However, Justin stopped her.

“Let's go. Give the man some time to investigate. To save his neck, I trust he'll give us a reasonable

explanation.”

The following day, Bailey sat by the window of the coffee shop on the corner, arching her brows as she

gazed at the man opposite her in military uniform.

“May I know why you wanted to meet me, Mr. Fletcher?”

Raiden took his time pouring a cup of coffee and handing it to her. “There's no rush. Try the coffee here

and see what you think.”

She narrowed her eyes slightly.

I've never had any contact with anyone in the military. However, the way I see it, those in the military

should be straightforward. They wouldn't be prone to beating around the bush, let alone be calculative.

Nonetheless, this privileged son of an official gives off such a mysterious air that I can't seem to read

him at all.

Raiden took a sip of his coffee. After a long pause, he finally spoke. “Ms. Jefferson, you truly have

many tricks up your sleeve. You used Spook's account to hack into City Hall's marriage registration

system and registered Justin Xuereb and Veronique Revelle as a married couple.”

What?

Bailey's eyes widened.

When did I hack into City Hall's marriage registration system to do such a thing?

As she pondered about it, realization suddenly dawned on her.

Zayron... I don't even need to guess to know that it must've been him that messed with the system. But

why did he do that? There can only be one reason—Zephyr found out about his background and asked

him to do it.

“You're good, Mr. Fletcher. I was so discreet and didn't expect you'd pick up on it.”

He narrowed his eyes. “No. Your reaction just now indicated that it wasn't your doing. You're covering

for the person who was responsible.”

Her heart sank at those words.

What a sharp and clever man. The eldest son of the Fletcher family is terrifying indeed. I seem to have

crossed someone incredibly formidable.

“It was done using Spook's account. Hence, it all just comes back to me. Right? Alas, I'm afraid I might

have to disappoint you. You can't harm me. Well, at least not before the International Programming

Competition.”

Raiden did not say anything.

Slowly standing up, Bailey said with a smile, “If there's nothing else, I'll be going. The coffee was

actually pretty good. Please take your time to enjoy it.”

With that, she started walking toward the door.

“Wait a minute,” he called out. “I didn't ask to meet you to confront you. I actually wanted to talk to you

about the International Programming Competition.”

“Oh? And in what capacity would you be talking to me about such a confidential matter?” she asked,

raising her eyebrows. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

He looked up at her, then replied slowly and clearly, “The country has sent me to Hallsbay to be in

charge of the competition. They want me to keep track of the participants at all times. Is that reason

good enough for you?”

She stared at him wordlessly.

“There's no need for you to feel pressured, Ms. Jefferson. I'm only here to guide you in the subsequent

tasks. As long as you make our country proud and develop a complete source code, your previous

hacking of the research institute's database will get written off.”

His response rendered Bailey speechless.

Over at Luther Group's headquarters, Artemis swept his gaze over the office opposite and frowned as

he asked, “Who did Bailey go to meet? Why isn't she back yet?”

Dwayne rolled his eyes and replied exasperatedly, “It hasn't been that long since you last saw her. Do

you have to get so worried? If you ask me, you should just pin her to your belt.”

Artemis glanced at him icily.

“All right. I'll tell you, okay? She went to meet with Raiden.”
