Chapter 313
Chapter 313
Bailey had just entered Luther Group's lobby when two ladies walked right into her.
“Oh, I'm so sorry, Ms. Morpheus. It's my fault for bumping into you. Something must be wrong with my
eyes. Please forgive me.”
A look of hostility flashed in Bailey's eyes as she gazed at the blond-haired woman who had stumbled
into her.
It was Rose.
Has this conceited and haughty woman finally learned to be humble after losing at the film festival and
embarrassing herself? Alas, it's too late.
“What are you talking about, Ms. Rose? You're at the top of your game in the entertainment industry
and a massive international A-lister, so how could I dare to get mad at you? Now that the film festival is
over and there's a clear line drawn between us, we have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
With that, Bailey pushed Rose aside and headed toward the elevator.
Rose refused to give up. She grabbed Bailey's arm and wanted to kneel before the latter.
Bailey raised her brows. You should drop the act. Go ahead and kneel if you dare. I won't even bat an
eyelid if you do.
Rose had expected Bailey to help her to her feet, thinking the latter would at least show some respect
for the company she was signed to, LG Corporation.
The outcome, however, caused her to clench her jaw angrily.
Not only does she show no intention of stopping me, but with that eager gaze, it looks like she's
expecting to watch a good show. It's as though she can't wait for me to get to my knees. D*mn it! If I
kneel before her today, how will I ever be able to keep a foothold in the entertainment industry? But if I
don't, how will I secure the female lead role in “Time Warp”?
She hesitated and struggled over the decision for a long time. In the end, she slowly bent her knees
and lowered her head.
I can't let that b*tch, Rainie, get the part. After all, “Time Warp” is a big deal. It has garnered a massive
following and is beloved by billions of young people. If Rainie gets the role, she'll definitely shoot to
international stardom overnight and overshadow me.
Someone as proud as Rose would never be able to tolerate having the young girl, who she had
trampled under her feet for years, get ahead of her.
“I apologize for my recklessness and ignorance. In Aploth, kneeling is the best way of expressing one's
sincerity. That's why I'm on my knees, admitting to my mistakes. I hope you can forgive me.”
A hint of surprise flashed across Bailey's eyes.
I never thought that this woman who's as proud as a peacock would really bow and kneel in front of
me. It looks like the role of the female protagonist in this new project means a lot to her. Or perhaps it's
because she can't bear to see the part go to Rainie.
“There's no need for that, Ms. Rose. You may have offended and bumped into me previously, but I've
already slapped you to teach you a lesson. Hence, you don't owe me anything. If there's nothing else,
I'll be heading upstairs.”
“Wait!” Rose wrapped her arms around Bailey's thigh, then looked up at the latter and asked anxiously.
“My temperament matches that of the heroine in your new work. Could you let me play that role?”
Bailey shot her a sidelong glance, then gave a half-smile. “I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to help
you. Cosmos Studios own the film rights now, and they'll be fully in charge of that project. Regardless
of whether it's casting or scouting for filming locations, they'll be the one who makes the call. You're
good at socializing, aren't you? You could go and approach the studio's upper management.”
Rose instantly looked upset.
Why is she still pulling an attitude even after I've gotten to my knees before her?
“As the author of “Time Warp,” Cosmos Studios will definitely listen to your suggestions. As long as you
recommend me for the part, I'm sure to get it.”
Bailey leaned down slightly and slowly reached out to pry Rose's arms from around her leg.
Enunciating every word clearly, she said, “Cosmos Studios made a promise before the film festival.
Whoever wins the awards for best actor and actress will get to participate in the film. Ms. Rose, you lost
because your acting wasn't as good as Ms. Yeanisky's. Hence, there's no use for you to come to me
now and beg.” Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Looking grim, Rose sprang to her feet and snarled, “In that case, you'll have to face the consequences.
I've already groveled before you and begged. What more do you want?”
Bailey sneered. “Did I ever promise to let you have the part of the female protagonist if you kneeled
before me?”
“You—”
Livid, Rose lunged forward to attack Bailey.
However, Bailey immediately dodged aside with a hint of a smirk tugging at her lips.
Unable to regain her balance, Rose tipped forward and crashed straight onto the marble floor with a
dull thud.
The staff around them walked over at once, pointing at Rose and whispering among themselves.
“She didn't have what it took to win another Oscar for Best Actress and lost to some younger actress.
However, she still has the audacity to show her face here and grovel before Ms. Jefferson. What a
joke!”
“If you ask me, she must've won before this because she pulled some strings. Otherwise, how could
someone who's only a pretty face like her get the Best Actress award three years in a row?”
“It's imperative that one possesses self-awareness. Look at her. How could she have no shame and
come to beg for the part of the female lead? 'Time Warp' is a major intellectual property coveted by
countless people. It's a huge masterpiece! Despite that, she doesn't even bother to take a good look at
herself in the mirror. The most experienced social butterfly in the entertainment industry? Yeah, right.
Don't let her drag down the entire film.”
Rose gritted her teeth as she listened to the remarks around her while lying sprawled on the floor.
Just you wait, Bailey Jefferson. Once I've succeeded in seducing Mr. Luther, I'll use him to make you
pay for this. The same goes for that b*tch, Rainie. She wants to act in “Time Warp,” does she? Well, if I
can't have what I want, I'd rather destroy it than let it fall into the hands of another.
Over at City Hall's reception room, the person in charge was attending to Justin and Scarlett in an
ingratiating manner, chatting and cracking jokes.
After all, she's Sloan Fletcher's beloved daughter, and that's his chosen son-in-law. Even if someone
tried to bribe me, it wouldn't be worth offending this couple.
“Please wait a moment, Ms. Fletcher. I've already instructed my staff to gather the necessary
documents. They'll be here shortly to proceed with your marriage registration.”
A trace of a smile played on Scarlett's red lips as she basked in the man's obsequious behavior.
As a member of the Fletcher family, even the mayor of Hallsbay would have to treat me respectfully.
Who does that rebellious daughter of the Revelle family think she is to try and steal a man from me?
“There's no hurry. It's still early. It'll be fine as long as everything is completed before it gets dark.”
“Yes, of course. Have another cup of coffee,” he replied while hurriedly pouring her more coffee.
Just then, two employees walked in with some documents and a laptop in their arms.
Ignoring the person in charge, Scarlett walked over to the two of them.
“Can we begin now?”
Both employees had also gotten wind that the woman before them was the Fletcher family's eldest
daughter, so they did not dare to dawdle.
“Yes, of course. Please fill in these forms while I log into the marriage registration system to record your
details.”
As Scarlett took a pen from the other employee, she smiled and said to Justin, “Let's get this done
quickly so that we don't take up too much of their time.”
A dark look flitted across Justin's eyes, and a twinge of repugnance and protest rose in his heart.
He sat in silence for a while before taking the pen Scarlett held out to him and filling in the form.
Meanwhile, the female employee took Justin's household registry and began tapping away on the
keyboard.
Once she had keyed in the details, however, a message box suddenly popped up on the screen:
Submission Failed.
