Chapter 169
Evelina felt like Remington’s gaze was as icy as if he was staring down an enemy.
She was shocked, her face turning ghostly pale, and she stumbled back a couple of steps in fear.
With just a look from Remington, two bodyguards stepped up and grabbed Evelina by her arms.
Tears streamed down Evelina’s face, a mix of feeling wronged and terrified.
She didn’t want to get slapped. If she got smacked around by Lizetta today, without rhyme or reason, she’ll be laughed at.
“Remi, I didn’t do it, I really didn’t, you can’t let Liz get away with this.”
Her wails were pitiful, but seeing that Remington wasn’t paying her any mind, she turned to Casslus.
“Cassius, this is your shindig and your setup, won’t you even look out for me?”
Cassius‘ face wasn’t looking too hot either. He thought Lizetta was being way too bullish.
No evidence whatsoever, and here she was, crashing the party; Remington even let her get away with it, not to say that he allowed her to hit Evelina.
He stepped forward, “Remi.”
Remington shot him a frosty look, “None of your beeswax.”
Cassius frowned, and Yolanda let out a snort of derision.
Cassius was already fuming and had no outlet, when he heard her blatantly mocking laughter, he glared at her.
Yolanda rolled her eyes, mouthing silently. “Idiot.”
Cassius read her lips and wished he could just strangle her right then and there.
“Liz, chill. I’ll do it for you, save you the trouble.”
Yolanda rolled up her sleeves, but Lizetta grabbed her.
Lizetta’s gaze was calm but stubborn as she looked at Remington.
“What if I just want her to drink this bottle of water?”
If it were her who took the hit, she could handle whatever came her way.
But today, she just wanted to fight for fairness for the little one in her belly.
Remington’s frown was so deep that it was nearly a physical ridge, and he said slowly, “I told you, no way!” Feeling a surge of profound disappointment, Lizetta managed a bleak smile. She nodded and let go of Yolanda, saying,
“Yoli, go ahead.”
As Yolanda approached Evelina, she noticed the smile on Lizetta’s face, yet it felt more like she was crying.
She walked towards Evelina and raised her hand for a slap.
Smack!
Evelina’s head turned as she spat out a mouthful of blood, along with a bloody tooth!
“Whoa!” Evelina opened her mouth, feeling too pained to speak, and broke into a pitiful, tearful mess.
“Holy moly! You hulk out or something? Take it easy!”
Cassius always saw Evelina as the kid sister of the social circle, and seeing Yolanda strike so hard, he grabbed her hand.
Yolanda looked at him, “Let go, or I’ll smack you too!”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Cassius sneered.
Yolanda scoffed, “Badass Remington didn’t give a damn to his woman, so what’s got you all worked up? Trying to steal Badass Remington’s thunder?”
“Spout one more nonsense!” Cassius seethed.
Yolanda couldn’t be bothered to argue and just went for a knee sweep.
Cassius had seen her fight scenes on set, which was smooth as water; she was the real deal. He was on guard and dodged back.
After Yolanda got free, she delivered four more slaps to Evelina. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
After the beating, Evelina, feeling she was hanging by a thread, leaned on the bodyguard for support.

Cassius was livid, and Yolanda returned to Lizetta’s side.
“Happy now?” Remington glared at Lizetta, with a cold expression.
Lizetta didn’t respond. She walked over to the bar, grabbed an empty wine glass, and poured the water she’d brought into it.
Then, she turned around and suddenly flung the glass of water right in the face of that stunningly handsome
man.
“Her debt’s paid, and this one’s for you!”
She was avenging her unborn child.
“Remi!”
“Lizetta, have you lost your mind?”
Timothy and Cassius both spoke up and stepped forward, followed by a long silence.
The water droplets trickled down Remington’s chiseled brows, straight nose, and along his sharp jawline before hitting the floor remained.
The man who was always dignified, aloof, and god–like, had never been seen in such disarray.
