Mated With Five Boys

Chapter 7: Colors.

Chapter 7: Colors.

"The mind wears the colors of the soul, as a valet those of his master"- Sophie Swetchine

Sometimes I see people as colors.

For example, when I look at Wyatt I see stars, energy, I see happiness, I see yellow.

But when I look at Angelo, I see navy blue, maybe that's because he has such a calming effect on the people around him, but yet there is this dark depressed cloud that lingers over him.

When I first met Rylan at the airport the youthful and adventurous vibe that leaks out of him screamed orange, kind of like a sunset or a bonfire.

As I talked to Camila on my first day I moved in I decided she was red, but not any type of red, she was a fiery red.

The type of red that was filled with passion and excitement.

While Indy, on the other hand, was the complete opposite, she was simplistic, innocent, pure even.

She was white.

When I see Phoenix I think of brown, not a dirty brown but more of a warm, wholesome brown.

And with Kina I see a wine colored purple, the girl just looked like royalty ran in her veins.

But as I looked across the kitchen table at Axel, I didn't see just one color.

I saw them all.

I looked at him inquisitively, how is that even possible? I watched the colors fly around him, getting lost in them.

How could one person be more than one color? "Are you nervous for your first day?"

Rylan whispered next to me, he probably noticed my dazed state.

"No, not really’ I told him.

"I'm used to it by now."

I continued.

Which for the record, was a lie.

I was extremely nervous but I didn't want to worry him.

"Good, you shouldn't be."

He sent me a boyish smile that made me swoon a tiny bit on the inside.

Why am I like this? "I'm going to school, Axel grumbled, getting up from the table, and putting his bowl that he was just eating cereal out of into the sink and walked out the front door.

I still have yet to decide what color he was.

"We should probably be going too, we wouldn't our dear Mia being late her first day now would we?"

Wyatt said grabbing his backpack and slinging it over his shoulders.

"T'll take you to school"

Rylan informed me, placing his hand in the middle of my back.

I just nodded my head, I didn't really like his hand being on my back but I let it go.

"How are we all going to fit in your car?"

I wondered, looking up to Rylan.

"Phoenix drives Wyatt and Indy to school before he goes to work and Kina drives the twins"

He informed, gently pushing me out the door.

I followed him outside to the driveway, the chilly Colorado morning wind smacking against my skin.

I watched as Rylan pushed unlock on his keys, the car beeped indicating it had opened.

"What kind of car do you have?"

I asked him, looking at the white car in front of me.

"It's a Mercedes Coupe"

He answered, opening the passenger side door.

"Now get your cute self in the car, Petal."

He insisted.

I climb in, the black leather seats made the car look even more boujee than it did before.

"Really Rylan, you need to stop with the nicknames, I told him, not impressed.

"I could."

He stated.

"But where would be the fun in that?"

Rylan smirked at me and started the car.

"guess you're right"

I shrugged, playing along.

"Of course lam Sweet Cheeks’ I looked out the window the tall trees and grass were passing us in a green blur.

I felt the anxiety form knots in my stomach as I thought about arriving at this new school.

For the last ten years I've been in and out countless amounts of schools, but it doesn't change the apprehension I feel about being the new kid once again.

"How's your uhh how's your arm?"

Rylan asked bringing me out of my head.

I get lost in my own thoughts way too often.

I looked down at to the grey sweater sleeve that was hiding bruises that were all in different stages of the healing process.

"Good and getting better"

I looked over at him.

His eyebrows were furrowed, focusing on the road ahead.

"You don't have to pretend to be okay around me, Mia."

He started.

"I can see right through it darling."

He looked back over at me, his hazel eye boring into mine.

"Those cuts and bruises will go away, but the scars will always stay."

I jumped slightly when I felt his hand came down over mine.

He was right, bruises were ugly and painful but most importantly, they were more than just skin deep.

I surprised myself by twisting my hand and encases Rylan’s hands in mine.

He has a way of saying just want I needed to hear, even if I didn't want too.

Rylan looked down at our hands and smiled to himself like a small boy who had won a prize at the carnival.

"My mother used to say "Where you are wounded is the place the Light enters you."

and I guess kind of always believed it"

I told him.

Ry snapped his head towards me.

"That's the first time I've heard you talk about your mom."

He pointed out.

My eyes widen at the realization, I actually talked about my mom out loud.

"Yeah, I guess I did,’ I said shocked.

And it felt good.

It felt like a small weight was lifted off of my being.

Like I didn't have so much mental baggage weighing on my mind.

"You know what they say tater-tot, the first step is always the hardest."

Rylan squeezed my hand softly.

"But you just did it, Mia." All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

He smiled brightly, showing off his white teeth.

"I just want someone else to know how amazing she was,’ I spoke out loud, looking out the window again as we pulled into the school’s parking lot.

"I bet she was incredible."

He said genuinely, pulling into a parking space.

I glanced towards him, just to see him already staring at me.

"She made you didn't she?"

The intensity of his voice made heat rush to my cheeks.

Don't start blushing, we do NOT blush.

"Indeed she did"

I played it off, but I'm one hundred percent sure he noticed.

How can he not? You look like a freaking tomato! "You're so beautiful,"

Rylan whispered to what I think was supposed to be to himself, but I overheard by accident.

linternally cringed, I hate being called beautiful or any form of affectation in general for that matter.

I didn't feel I was beautiful or pretty or sexy so I didn't want to be called them words.

Even if he meant it or not.

"Are you ready to go inside?"

I asked not bothering to wait for a reply as I opened the door getting out.

"Yeah let's go Shortcake."

Rylan hopped out of the car, locking it in the process.

"Hopefully we will have classes together, I said honestly.

It wouldn't hurt to have a friendly face in a few classes.

"I'm sure we will seeing as we're in the same grade plus, the school isn't the hugest either."

He replied, making me feel a little better.

Bring it on Irvine High School.
