Chapter 1223 I Do Miss Them

He offered Benjamin no greeting and walked straight away.

Benjamin gave him a look before walking over toward Arissa.

“Did he do anything to you?”

Arissa shook his head and pointed to the coffee table nearby. “He's signed the contract.”

Benjamin let out a soft snort. “He has to sign it sooner or later anyway. Even if he doesn't want to, I have ways to make him sign.”

Arissa took his hand and chuckled softly.

“One might mistake you for a thug. You've already done enough. I intended to acquire York Group by my own means, but you've been a great help, saving me quite the effort.”

“It was a small matter. There's no need for a meticulous plan. I'll have Ethen handle York Group's affairs.”

Arissa nodded. “Fetch the document so I can sign it.”

Benjamin summoned Ethen, then retrieved the paperwork and passed it to Arissa.

Once she was done, he took it back and handed it to Ethen. “Take care of this.”

“Yes, Mr. Graham,” Ethen replied before he left to carry out his tasks.

When Shaun entered the room and noticed Ethen rushing out, he asked, “Why is Ethen in such a hurry? What's going on?”

“He's out to handle York Group's affairs.” Benjamin cast a glance at him and moved aside. “Go ahead and do what you need to do.” He offered Benjamin no greeting and walked straight away.

Shaun smiled and gave Arissa her daily checkup.

“Arissa is recovering well. Keep your spirits up, get plenty of rest, and make sure to take your medicine on time.”

“Okay.” A wave of relief washed over Arissa.

She was rather looking forward to the arrival of the child, having initially believed she could never conceive again.

After chatting for a while with the couple, Shaun went off to attend to other matters.

“Do you want to take a nap?” Benjamin poured a cup of warm water and fed Arissa before placing the cup on the nightstand.

“Maybe not. It's almost time for dinner.” Arissa looked at the time and let out a startled cry. “Ah!”

“What is it?” Benjamin glanced at her nervously, fearing that she might not be feeling well.

Arissa broke into a smile. “The children must be out of school now. Why aren't they here?”

Benjamin heaved of sigh of relief at that.

“I had the driver take them home when Regan was here. They should be coming over with Edwin soon.”

“Let them stay at home. It's quite troublesome for them to come and go.” Arissa missed her children but decided she didn't want them to come over.

Benjamin pinched her cheek. “Don't you miss them?”

Arissa smiled awkwardly.

“I do miss them, but I don't want to put them through the trouble of traveling back and forth. They're better off staying at home. Besides, Grandaunt is also at home. Let them spend some time with her.” Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

“Then call them yourself and tell them. Saves me from being the bad guy who doesn't let them visit their mother!” Benjamin retorted, an air of faux disgruntlement surrounding him.

“You make the call, and I'll do the talking, okay?” Arissa chuckled.

Benjamin smirked. He was reluctant to let the children visit her too, fearing that they might disrupt her rest.

Benjamin made the call and put it on speaker.

“Daddy, what's up?” Gavin's voice rang out on the other end.

He sounded busy.

“Sweetheart, it's me.” Arissa's voice was as gentle as a lullaby. Her eyes brimmed with affection for her child.

Benjamin's heart warmed at the sight of her tender smile.

“Huh? It's Mommy!”

The excitement in Gavin's voice was palpable, which soon attracted his siblings to join in.

They were shouting over there for Arissa, their voices filling Arissa with happiness.

“Mommy!”
