The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge

Chapter 1957

Suddenly, a blur passed in front of him, and he felt a warm hand supporting his back, one hand gripping his arm.

"Careful!"

Grant looked up in surprise, meeting a pair of clear, bright eyes. He felt his heart skip a beat.

Bella mustered her strength and wheeled him back onto level ground. As she leaned over him, a few strands of her hair brushed against his face.

Grant clenched his jaw and smiled wryly. "I really have to thank you, Ms. Thompson. If not for you, I would be staying here tonight too."

"It's nothing. I did what anyone would do."

Bella lowered her eyes, nudging a pebble away with her toe. "Your wheel must have been caught on a stone. That was really dangerous. Why isn't Ms. Clarice with you?"

"I'm heading back to Meridan soon and wanted to visit my sister before leaving. I was just in the café next to the hospital, buying coffee for the doctors and nurses taking care of my sister. Clarice stepped into the supermarket nearby, so I was just waiting by myself. That's when I got a call from Paul. I rushed over alone because I was just so worried about Carrie."

He was still sweating and panting heavily.

During their brief encounters in the past, Bella had only ever seen the eldest Salvador impeccably composed. Even bound in a wheelchair, he always managed to maintain a dignified posture. She had never seen him look this ruffled before.

"I understand that, as her brother, you're concerned about Carrie. But given your condition, you shouldn't be going out alone. It's too risky." She kept her tone indifferent toward him.

Grant showed a resigned smile. "At times like these, I can't help but wish I were healthy. If so, I wouldn't always be a burden to others."

Bella's expression shifted subtly at

his words, but she quickly concealed it and cleared her throat. "Are you going to wait here for Ms. Clarice?

Then I'll be going up to see Carrie first."

"If you don't mind, may I go with you? I'm really worried about her." Grant pleaded, his eyes filled with urgency.

"Of course, you're her brother. I don't mind." With that, Bella turned and walked ahead. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Just then, she heard a coughing fit behind her, accompanied by the man's heavy breathing, sounding like he might collapse at any second.

"Ms. Thompson, my body is really useless." Grant spoke between gasps, his face pallid. "I have no strength left... Could you, perhaps, help push me to the room?"

Although Bella was reluctant to have

prolonged contact with him, as a

doctor, she could not be so

heartless toward an ill person. Especially since Grant had once saved Justin's life, she could not simply ignore him.

"Alright." She moved behind him and began to push the wheelchair.

"Thank you..." Grant had his hand on his chest as he tried to steady his breathing. He turned to meet the eyes that had stunned him earlier.

At that moment, a low, stern voice rang out behind them. "Bella."
