Chapter 230
Chapter 230
Right after he finished speaking, an object flew toward him.
“F*ck.”
Artemis dodged at once, staggering a few steps backward. However, after steadying himself, he
realized what the object was and reached out unwillingly to catch it.
He had no other choice.
That was Bailey's phone, and he was sure that the woman would give him a hard time if it was
damaged.
Dwayne sneered before saying in a mocking tone, “Seems like you're worse than me. I dare you to
touch Bailey, but I bet you won't even get to feel the corners of her blouse.”
Artemis was rather speechless when he heard that.
Just then, Bailey walked over with a frosty expression and sized the two men up before saying snarkily,
“Have you guys been lonely for too long? Need me to arrange something for you?”
Fine! Even though I can't offend her, I can avoid her!
Dwayne snubbed out his cigarette and started walking toward Justin's room. “I'll take Justin's room.
You guys can feel free to pick any of the remaining rooms you like. Anyway, Bailey, Artemis seems
rather energetic lately. I think you should interact with him on a deeper level and balance out your
energies. That's better for health.”
Bailey rolled her eyes after hearing that.
The next moment, she was pinned against the wall by Artemis, who was standing next to her.
Not again!
“Finally, that guy has said something right. Bailey, I am indeed feeling excessively energetic lately, and I
need your help to drain off some of it.” Without speaking any further, Artemis pressed his lips against
Bailey's.
When Victoria woke up the next morning, subconsciously, the first thing she did was look at her body.
“What's the matter? Weren't you very brave last night? Why would you care about your innocence
now?”
A familiar voice rang out. Victoria turned toward the sound of the voice and saw Bailey munching on a
piece of watermelon. “Bay, I think I can finally let go now.”
“Stop.” Bailey gestured for Victoria to stop talking before letting out a cold snort and said, “Show me
then. Actions speak louder than words.”
Victoria sighed as she struggled to sit up. “You're always so sharp with your words. Fine! I'll use my
actions to prove it. I'm hungry now. Where's my breakfast?”
Before the woman even asked for it, Bailey had already taken out a bottle of warm milk and some
snacks from a thermal container.
“What are your plans?”
Without answering, Victoria picked up the milk and drank a few gulps. After soothing her throat, she
said, “I'll return to the condominium which he had arranged for me to stay at. Then, I'll just wait and see
what else he can do to degrade me further.”
Just as Bailey was about to speak, Victoria cut her off with a dismissive wave.
“Bay, you want me to stop waiting for him because there would never be a positive outcome, right?”
Bailey fell silent.
She was no fool and understood what Victoria meant by that.
Do you really have to do that? Are you only going to give up after you are completely beaten and
bruised?
Reading Bailey's thoughts, Victoria smiled and said, “Yup. I guess I'll only wake up and give up
completely after I'm completely bruised and battered. So, stop persuading me and just let me be.”
Bailey nodded and replied, “Fine. I'll respect your choice. I'm glad that you didn't think of ending your
life even after what happened last night. Vicky, I trust that you will not give up on life easily.”
Victoria responded with a smile.
Artemis arrived at the medical base at noon.
In the study, he passed the box which he had brought along with him to Bailey and said solemnly,
“Previously, we guessed that, most likely, Cadence had tampered with the drugs during the production
process, which would cause those medicine that was supposed to save lives to cause deaths instead.
That would not only destroy your reputation but could also put you in jail. I've specially retrieved some
preliminary samples from a few drug factories for you to check if the ingredients have been altered.”
Bailey froze for a moment when she heard that.
She had almost forgotten about Cadence.
“All right. Thanks for reminding me. Otherwise, that guy would have gotten away with it.”
Artemis smiled and put his arms around Bailey's waist before saying, “Everything concerning you is
important to me. I want to take care of you in all areas of your life so that you can focus on your career
without any worries. Bailey, has anyone ever told you how attractive you are when you are serious at
work?”
Bailey was speechless when she heard that.
She rolled her eyes before fixing her gaze on the drugs laid out in front of her and said with a frown,
“There are only a few dozen samples here. We might not be able to find any anomalies.”
“Don't worry about it. Just check these first. If you can't find anything amiss, I'll get you more to
examine. Also, before this batch of drugs is introduced into the market, I will get Luther Group's
medical team to do a thorough check on the drugs in secret. I won't allow anyone to die from
consuming these drugs and destroy your reputation.”
A complicated expression appeared on Bailey's face as she looked up at Artemis. “Artemis, I've
countless enemies all over the world, and Cadence is just one of them. If I get into any serious trouble
next time, you will regret being involved with me,” she said helplessly.
“Don't be silly.” Artemis tapped the woman's nose and replied, “You're not allowed to say such
nonsense next time. Although I'm not invincible, I'm still capable enough to support and protect you.”
Bailey was at a loss for words when she heard that.
Meanwhile, in the Luther residence's dressing room, Rhonda was circling around an exquisitely-
designed wedding gown, her eyes filled with astonishment.
Caridee, who was standing next to Rhonda, was looking at the woman coldly, with a complicated gaze
in her eyes.
After what happened to Maxton, the entire Luther family was in a state of despair and anguish.
However, as Maxton's mother, apart from pretending to faint briefly after being informed about Maxton's
accident, Rhonda had been behaving as if nothing had happened.
Earlier on, when she learned that the wedding gown was going to arrive that day, she was so happy
that she couldn't stop smiling.
No wonder Max isn't close to her. Which child would feel safe having a mother like that?
“Rhonda, are you very happy?”
Without thinking much, Rhonda replied at once, “Of course! Your brother had custom-made this gown
for me, and it cost three hundred million. I heard that the most luxurious wedding gown to date was
only worth two hundred million. Since mine is now way more valuable than that, that means I'm the
most precious woman in the world from now on.”
After saying that, she grabbed Caridee's arm and continued, “Caridee, help me take a look and see if
there is anything that needs alteration. There are around ten days left until the wedding day, so we still
have time to get them fixed.”
Caridee flung Rhonda's hand away and sneered, “Rhonda, I know you are excited about the gown, but
I am really not in the mood to admire it. That's because my nephew is still lying in the hospital in a
coma. My biological nephew.”
The woman emphasized the last few words intentionally through gritted teeth.
Rhonda snapped out of her excitement when she heard that, and the look on her face changed at
once. Forcing a stoic expression, she replied, “I'm very worried about Max as well, so I'm really hoping
that the wedding will help ward off some bad luck and Max can wake up soon.”
Ha...
Feeling deflated and no longer wishing to continue the conversation, Caridee turned around and
headed toward the door. “Ms. Rhonda, I shall leave you here to continue admiring your wedding gown.
I'm sure my brother would be giving you the grandest wedding that would be the envy of everyone.”
Rhonda let out a cold snort after hearing that. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Well, needless to say, our wedding would definitely be the wedding of the century. Even though you're
the daughter of the Luther family, all you can do is envy me.
Meanwhile, after examining the drugs, Bailey found other substances mixed in them.
