“Well, I feel like I can support myself with my job,” Serenity stated.

A faint glint flickered in Jackson’s eyes. Then, he smiled softly, “I’ll send you to work today,” he offered, kissing her forehead. Then, he lifted the quilt and got out of bed.

“Oh! Serenity let out a low gasp and reflexively looked away.

Her shy reaction amused him. He found her really adorable.

“What? You don’t like that?” Jackson turned back. He propped himself up on top of her, his breath close to her.

Serenity’s cheeks heated up red. With him this close, she did not know where to look. “I–I’m just shy.” NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

“What is there to be shy about?” Jackson pulled her hand to him, letting her feel the skin of his chest. “Didn’t you touch me here yesterday? You’ve already seen it all. We’re in love with each other. It’s only natural for you to look at me. Well, unless you find me unattractive.”

“Of course not!” Serenity instinctively refuted, her face burning redder as soon as her words escaped her. Gosh! What was she saying?! Although it was the truth, it was just way too…

Her palm was full of his warmth.

“Isn’t that fine? Serenity, won’t you look at me more? I like it when you keep your eyes on me,” he muttered, sounding like he needed more love.

Jackson’s voice vibrated like a string that moved the heart. Naturally, Serenity was undeniably moved by him. She could not resist locking her gaze on him. His body was beautiful, just like a perfect sculpture.

Jackson chuckled softly and rose to his feet again. He began to change his clothes, and as he did so, his eyes remained locked on hers.

Serenity could not look away from his intense gaze. By the time he had finished changing, her face was as red as a beet. He then fetched her clothes from the closet and gently helped her change into them.

“I–I can do it myself,” Serenity mumbled.

“But I like doing this. I feel like you’re growing more dependent on me,” Jackson said.

Serenity was slightly startled “Why do you always seem like you really want me to rely on you?”

“Because the more you do, the harder it is for you to get away from me,” he answered.

Serenity pursed her lips in reply. She watched as Jackson crouched down and helped her put on her socks. He was so gentle with her, not at all what the world described him to be.

In the past, Serenity thought a man like Jackson would be arrogantly proud. Someone like him would surely like to have full control.

After getting to know him better, she could always sense his insecurity. Even when they were together, he always feared that she would leave him someday. He feared she would not love him and not forgive him or something

Why would someone like him feel insecure? Was it because of his mother? His mother had betrayed his father and left them behind. Was it his mother’s betrayal that led to his extreme insecurity? Was he

so traumatized by this?

Serenity remembered the scar still visible on lus chest, Jackson had told her it was from when his mother had pushed him away when she was leaving him. It had almost killed him.
