I Want You Back

Chapter 38

Sofia Andrew

I woke up with the feeling of something on my waist. When I looked down, I saw Angel's arm wrapped around it. When did he come to my room? I blinked and looked at his sleeping face. He looked so handsome. "God, if this is a dream, please don't wake me up."

After wanting and dreaming of this for five years, it feels surreal. We went on dates, ate together, watched movies, and he even gave me my first o****m. We are doing things like normal couples, but how long will it last? Angel is always a ticking bomb. I started to trace him using my finger, starting from his face, down to his hips, and back up again.

"Are you not going lower?" I heard him whisper, and I looked up to see his amber eyes staring back at me.

"No. When I slept, I don't remember you being here," I told him with narrowed eyes.

He gave me a sly grin. "You told me I could switch rooms; I just did it."

"Mm, I almost got a heart attack when I woke up and saw a monster beside me," I told him in a serious tone, and he climbed on top of me.

"Monster?" he asked, and he began to tickle me, making me squeal and try to get away from him.

"No! Have mercy!" I screamed, and he did. He looked at me, and we both tried to catch our breaths.

"I have no mercy because that is weakness, but for you, I can try. Just don't lie or hide things from me anymore."

Now we have a problem because I haven't told him about Let-Tech, and he won't be able to demand that from me.

"Okay, but don't lie to me as well. Do not hide anything and trust me."

Angel took a deep breath. "I am trying, Sofia, and lately, I've been thinking that things may not be what I think they are."

"If you trust me, promise me that you will talk to me first before jumping to conclusions."

"And I'm doing that. I want that. You and me talking, getting along, playing." After saying that, he tickled me again, and I giggled while he grinned. "Sharing things, I want you back."

"You hurt me, Angel, and I understand you; I do, but that won't change anything that's happened. It still hurts to think about it. I know you don't believe me; we don't fully trust each other, and a relationship without trust is..."

"Hell, I know," he finished for me. "But let's do this, Mrs. Leffman."

I laughed at that. "Sounds good, but I still like Andrew."

"You can hide it, but there's no denying that you are still wearing my name."

We both laughed, and it felt nice.

"I like this version of you and not the cold and ruthless Angel Leffman. Even if those traits are good in business."

"And that came from a woman who just destroyed and sent someone to jail yesterday?"

I scowled at the mention of that guy. "That jerk messed with me. He tried to r**e me, and if that wasn't enough, he also blackmailed me. He's a disgusting man who deserves that."

"I still insist that you were careless, but I admit that you looked sexy."

"And now you know what happens to those who mess with me."

And your little girlfriend is next, Angel.

I pushed him away and stood up to go to the bathroom. I almost gasped in horror because I looked like a mess. I can't believe Angel woke up to this face! I wore something decent, and when I walked out, I didn't see Angel anywhere. I looked for him and saw him in the kitchen, checking the pantry and refrigerator.

"What are you doing?" I interrupted his task.

He looked so sexy from the back and in my kitchen at that. His muscular back is exposed, so I can see how his muscles move, and that chest-don't even get me started with that.

"I am looking for something to cook. You cooked for me, so it's my turn now."

"Will you cook for me? Do you even know how to differentiate salt and sugar?" I teased him and copied what he asked me before, and he laughed.

"I lived at the university alone, so I learned how to cook, and I'm not bad at it."

"Let's try and see. What will you cook for me?"

""Let me surprise you."

I sat on the stool facing him to watch him cook. "You've been doing this for days, and I still can't believe it. Will you see a doctor?"

He set the ingredients he took on the island and looked at me. "You've been mentioning that, and I'm starting to think that you are the one who wants it."

"I don't have bipolar symptoms. One moment, you like me, the next, you hate me. You kiss me but don't want to see me the next day. You're telling me I'm bad, yet you come to my apartment like this."

He paused what he was doing and sighed. "I told you it's better if we take things slow. so that we get to know each other better first."

"After five years? Well, it's better late than sorry, I guess."

He started to cook now, and I'm not sure what it is, but it smells so delicious that my stomach grumbled.

"Sofia, I have a question for you, and I want you to answer me honestly."

"You always say that when you're asking me. What is it this time?"

"I haven't asked you why you married me. I mean, what did you gain in this marriage?"

His question surprised me, and I didn't get to answer right away. Didn't he say that I married him because I was a brat who wanted to get what she wanted?

"Why are you asking me that? According to you, you already know my reason."

He breathes in frustration as he cooks while I make our coffee.

"Why can't you just answer? You always answer me with another question."

"Will you not tell me to talk about it some other time in the middle of it and leave?"

"And how can I do that when I'm cooking?"

"See? Your mood changes faster than mine. I really think you have personality disorder, or at least mood disorder."

He laughed while looking at me and pinched my a's cheeks, making me look at him in disbelief.

"Will you answer me or not?"

I think of what to say because the last time I mentioned Dad, he got angry.

"I don't want to ruin our breakfast. The last time we tried to talk about it, we ended up arguing."

"I'm giving you my word that I won't be angry. I just want to know because you haven't really told me."

"True, but then again, we never really talked. But you told me that dad forced you to marry me; what is it that I did to convince my dad to force you?"

"I was the first to ask, Sofia."

I bit my lip before finally answering him. "When my dad told me he wanted to do business with your family, they asked for one condition, and that is for you to marry me. I told him it's impossible because you don't love me, and he asked if I was sure, and I said yes to make him forget about the marriage."

I took a deep breath and continued. "After a few months, Dad told me you agreed to marry me but with conditions he did not agree to. A week after the graduation party, he told me that you agreed to the marriage with the condition of being the company's president because you want stability and reputation. Dad agreed, but with the condition that we have equal rights."

"But you haven't told me your motive. You are not one to do something just because your dad told you to."

"Since I was young, I always thought that Dad would never entrust the company to me because I am a woman. That's why I tried my best to show him that I could. Even when we grew apart, we still had a good relationship, so I chose you."

"And you did great managing the company like an expert. I imagine now that he regrets his belief."

"Imagine my surprise when I informed him that I'm now the president, and he said it's about time. He told me that I was the one who managed it anyway and that you were never really there. He also told me that he knew I am gifted and talented, so the company is in good hands." Angel looked a bit taken aback at that. "Really? Then why did he agree for me to be the president?"

I remember the day I told Dad about the divorce and how he said that he thought Angel loved me because I loved him, but of course, I won't tell him that.

"Dad told me that he saw great potential in you-a bright future because of your intelligence and talent. However, your family is your biggest flaw, except your grandfather. He believed that you just need a little help."

"How did he think about all that when I never met him before marriage?" he asked with a frown.

"Dad had you investigated."

"And why did he do that?"

That is a question I cannot give you the answer to yet, Angel.

"I think he said it's because he wanted to help you because if you think about it, he knows your pops. I don't know, you ask him." I rambled to try and avoid the question.

After our conversation, we sat down to eat and started to talk about random things about our lives, interests, and similarities.

"You like the sea," he said. "I like mountains. You like cold places, and I like warm places."

"That is a bit contradictory because the sea is warm and it's cold in the mountains."

"Who cares? We're like that. We are different yet the same in some ways. It's a good thing we still haven't killed each other in the five years we've been married." He joked, and we both laughed.

"Can I ask you what pushed you to build Autos-Let?" I asked to change the topic.

"It's been my dream since I was a kid. To build my own company and create my own designs. Designing cars has been my hobby since I was a child, and I thought, what would my car look like? I showed my designs to my father, but he did not even look at them, while Pops was proud of me. I was shocked when he brought my design to the company and told me that I'd be a great engineer one day."

"He really made a car out of your design? Which one is it?" I asked in amazement.

"It's not created for the public; I just found out he did when he gifted it to me on my eighteenth birthday." He replied, and I could see excitement in his eyes.

"You have great ideas, but your dad never listened to you? I remember when you showed me your designs in college, and I suggested that you show them to him, but you refused."

"You insisted that I try anyway, and I did, but he ignored it and told me to just focus on my studies. Now tell me, how did you know that I am the owner of Autos-Let?"

"Your design is the first car you launched. When I saw it, I thought it was familiar, and I remember our conversation. The strokes, the design, they are all you. And I confirmed it with a contact."

He hummed under his breath. "You really are clever. Impressive. And why didn't you tell me when you found out?"Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

"I don't know, maybe because I want you to tell me yourself. I waited for you to tell me until people started to recognize you and your designs, and you continued to hide yourself, so I guessed you didn't want anyone to know. Why don't you want your family to know about it?" "Why didn't you tell everyone, especially your family, that you are the owner of Lee Andrew's?"

"Now who asked for an answer?" I asked with a raised brow, and he laughed. "The same reason why I accepted the marriage. Letting people, especially Dad, know that I design clothes is like proving that women can't handle an automotive company, so I kept silent." "I don't want people to know because I don't want Dad or anyone meddling with my business. It's mine, and I want it to stay that way."

"You always care about your dad's opinion and acceptance, and that's why you accepted the marriage. I mean, I always thought that you were not someone to care about status."

"Like I told you, I was forced, but let's talk about that later. Let's digest what we talk about first, and I still need to have it investigated."

"Like what?" I asked, and he just stared at me, saying, 'I won't tell you anything.'

"Did your father tell you that he was the one who drafted the marriage contract? He's the one who added the clause that we should have equal rights."

"Yes, truth be told, I was shocked because I knew he didn't want to do business with anyone. He's always been independent, you know? So I don't understand why he did it." "Why did you mention that?"

"He thought it would make me happy. That our marriage would make me happy, but he's wrong."

"So, if he did it for you, does that mean you were infatuated with me, Miss Andrew?" I rolled my eyes at his question, and he reached for my hands. "I'm just kidding."

We finished our breakfast and cleaned up. When I looked at him, he looked deep in thought, and I wondered what was going on in his head this time.

"Hey!" I called him, and he snapped out of his thoughts before turning to me.

He waited for my answer, and I filled myself with courage before I did the one thing I wanted to do when I woke up and kissed him.

"That is a delicious dessert," he said with a smile when I pulled away.

"You are not the only one who has the right to kiss whenever you want to."

"So, what will you do today?"

"Because?"

"If I ask you out, what will you say?"

"That I agree to go out with you."

This feels really nice. Maybe we can have a normal relationship one day, but we still need to fix so many things.
