Alpha Wade’s piercing gaze flickered across the triplets in the rearview mirror as he guided the car through the night. A weighty silence hung in the air, broken only by the sound of their rapid tapping on electronic devices. Something was definitely off, and Alpha Wade could sense it.
Coughing with purpose, he motioned for Nelly, the oldest of the triplets, to check on the rest of them. Nelly glanced up from her own phone and understood the unspoken command, turning her attention to her siblings behind her.
It was clear that the children were engrossed in their phones, resorting to silent chatter rather than speaking aloud. Nelly observed them briefly before averting her gaze, buried herself in her own phone, determined not to intrude.
Annoyed and growing suspicious, Alpha Wade broke the silence. “Donna,” he called out, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
Startled, Donna lifted her head from her phone, meeting Alpha Wade’s gaze. “Yes?” she responded, her voice guarded.
“When will you be joining the film crew?” Alpha Wade inquired, seizing the opportunity to steer the conversation in a different direction.
Donna didn’t miss a beat. “First thing tomorrow morning,” she replied, her tone laced with determination.
“So soon?” Alpha Wade questioned, bewildered by the abruptness of her departure.
“Yeah,” Donna responded with an edge in her voice. “The sooner I go, the sooner I can come back. I wouldn’t want certain people getting up to mischief while I’m away,” she added darkly, casting a meaningful glance at her brothers.
Tony and Ben exchanged nervous glances, unsure of how to respond.
Alpha Wade chuckled, attempting to diffuse the tension. “How could that happen? Everyone adores you the most!”
Donna’s eyes narrowed, her tone cutting. “Sometimes, one does what they think is right in the name of love. But one should always ask if others are willing. Otherwise, isn’t that a form of coercion and harm?”NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
Alpha Wade was at a loss for words, silenced by Donna’s fierce intellect.
Tony and Ben, sensing the gravity of the situation, remained silent, refraining from adding fuel to the fire.
Realizing the futility of the argument, Donna turned her attention back to her phone, indicating that the discussion was over.
Alpha Wade observed his grandchildren through the rearview mirror, questioning his own actions. He glanced at Tony and Ben, considering whether silence was truly the wisest choice.
It seems that ignoring them might be the best course of action, he surmised.
“I’m tired. I’m going to my room to rest. Goodnight, Gramps and Nelly,” Donna declared as they arrived home, retreating to her sanctuary.
While it was evident that Donna was still upset, Nelly also retreated to her room, phasing out of the situation entirely.
Alpha Wade, still concerned, waited until everyone had retired to their rooms before speaking again. “Tony, Ben,” he began cautiously.
Tony reassured him with a calm tone. “It’s nothing, Gramps. We did something that upset her, and we’ll handle it ourselves.”
Alpha Wade nodded in approval. “Very well. Remember to be kind to her as older brothers should.”
Ben grinned, alleviating the tension. “Don’t worry, Gramps. You must be exhausted. Go rest.”
“You two should rest as well,” Alpha Wade concluded.
“Okay!”
Alpha Wade watched them for a moment before retiring to his own room, acknowledging the wisdom of letting his grandchildren work out their differences independently.
Tony and Ben were left alone in the living room. Locking eyes, they both silently approached Donna’s room and gently knocked on the door.
“If you want to talk, we’ll be here tomorrow,” Tony’s voice echoed through the door.
Donna’s dispirited voice wafted out from the room. “Alright. Rest well.”
Tony exchanged a glance with Ben, silently affirming their decision. They slipped out of the house through the front door.
The following morning, when Donna emerged from her room, she found everyone waiting for her, bags packed and breakfast ready. Tony and Ben were busily assisting at the dining table.
Seeing her, Ben beamed. “Come, Donna. Sit down and eat. We made all your favorites today.”
Donna eyed them warily, her anger tempered after a night of rest. She reluctantly made her way to the table, maintaining a stoic silence.
Tony furrowed his brow, concerned. After a moment of hesitation, he spoke up. “What happened yesterday was our fault. We should have considered your feelings. We were wrong. Please, don’t be angry anymore.”
Caught off guard by his genuine apology, Donna looked up at her brothers, searching for any hint of dishonesty.
“We promise it won’t happen again,” Tony added, his voice sincere.
“Really?” Donna queried, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Tony nodded resolutely. “Absolutely.”
Donna turned her gaze to Ben, who nodded eagerly. “Yes, really!”
They had acknowledged their mistake, openly in front of Alpha Wade and Nelly. Despite her lingering anger, Donna had no choice but to let go.
Reluctantly, she relented. “Fine, then. I forgive you.”
Ben broke into a wide grin. “Come here, my little princess. Your favorite juice awaits.”
“Don’t hide anything from me when I’m not at home. You have to tell me everything,” Donna insisted firmly.
“Of course!” Ben agreed, eagerness in his tone.
Donna turned her attention to Tony, who nodded solemnly. “No problem. I understand.”
Satisfied with their promises, Donna felt a weight lift off her shoulders. The dark cloud that had overshadowed her lifted, and she was filled with renewed joy.
Unbeknownst to Donna, Alpha Wade had watched the scene unfold, refraining from intervening. He smiled, realizing that sometimes it was best to allow the children to resolve their issues on their own.
“Excellent! Let’s eat,” he proclaimed, his smile warm and approving.
Meanwhile, Nelly, immersed in her phone, looked up briefly with a relieved smile, knowing that the children had made amends.
After the meal, Donna made her way downstairs to find the car Sharon had arranged waiting for her. The bags beside her caught her attention.
“What’s all this?” she asked, puzzlement in her voice.
“These are snacks your brothers bought for you. They said they’re your favorites and asked me to bring them along,” the driver explained.
Donna’s walls crumbled, tears welled up in her eyes. They had come to talk to her last night, only for her to push them away. And now, she understood their actions. They had gone out of their way to buy her favorite snacks.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, she pulled out one of the packets and stared at it with teary eyes, a smile tugging at her lips.
‘I’ve always known that I receive their love in abundance. I wanted to find a way to repay them, but it seems that no matter what I do, their love always surpasses my own.’
In that moment, surrounded by their love, Donna couldn’t have been more grateful.
