Chapter 270
Chapter 270
"This has nothing to do with you! Stop asking questions. If you don't behave yourself, I'll kill you. I have
nothing to lose anyway."
Tom, the boss who was driving spoke and refused to answer Coralie's questions.
"That's right. You can't blame us. Blame it on your husband who forced us to our wits' end."
Jerry, the younger man, echoed and let out a long sigh afterward.
Coralie could hear that he was both afraid and depressed.
She didn't dare to speak again. In fact, there was no use in saying anything.
When they stopped the car, Coralie was pushed out of the car by the kidnappers.
She almost fell a few times because she was being dragged by them. She tried to listen to the
surroundings as she could not see anything.
There were sounds of cars whistling past at times; they seemed to be near the highway. She was
pushed upstairs but she could still feel the wind around her. It appeared that they were not in an
enclosed area.
Coralie had no idea where they were.
After walking about three floors, Tom put Coralie down and ordered, "Behave yourself and don't move
around."
He tightened the rope on Coralie's wrist and then tied her to a pillar.
"Ok," Coralie replied.
She was very cooperative.
She had to cooperate with them if she wanted to live. Otherwise, they might do something extreme as
they were already being forced into a corner.
Coralie just leaned against the pillar. It was getting darker and colder.
Being in an open space and on the top floor, she couldn't help but tremble. She could vaguely hear
Jerry talking.
"Tom, I'm cold."
"Tom, I'm hungry."
"Stop complaining that you are cold or hungry. What else can you say? Hurry up and think of how to
talk to Leonardo to get the patent back, or else both of us will be dead for sure," Tom said.
"But, if you don't allow me to call him, they won't know that I kidnapped his wife, right?" Jerry replied.
"F*ck, what if he finds us? Kidnapping is a crime and we'll have to go to jail for this!" Tom shouted.
"Then what should we do..." Jerry cried out.
Coralie was listening to them and really felt that they did not seem to have kidnaped her on purpose.
Perhaps they were forced to out of desperation?
"Forget about it. I'm going to buy some food and water. You stay here and watch her. Don't let her run
away. Do you hear me?" Tom commanded.
"Alright," Jerry responded.
Coralie heard Tom leave in a hurry.
Jerry walked up to her and asked, "Will your husband make a police report? He won't ask the police to
arrest us, will he?"
"I have no idea."
Coralie shook her head and said.
He was obviously stunned at Coralie's response. After a long pause, he said, "Forget it. Anyway, we
have no other options. It's safer in the prison."
"Can you tell me what happened?" Coralie asked.
"Alas, my father used to work in a stationery factory where he spent decades developing a type of
paper and just applied for patency. In order to manufacture this paper, my dad used the company to
apply for a loan. They wanted to purchase machines to produce the paper on a massive scale..." He
answered.
"And then?"
Coralie asked when he suddenly paused.
She guessed that the ending was that they suffered a loss after production as the papers did not sell.
"My dad was in a hurry to borrow money at that time. He didn't expect the investment company
mentioned in the contract to demand the patent if we can't pay back the money. Initially, many people
wanted to buy this kind of paper, but after we were able to get the loan, they didn't want it anymore..."
He continued.
"Isn't that normal?" Coralie asked.
As far as she could process, she thought everything was normal. If one couldn't repay the loan, they
would have to hand over the patent.
"It's normal? Haha, that was what we thought at first until a few days ago when my father committed
suicide. We found out from his will that it wasn't that nobody wanted to buy the papers, but that
Leonardo and his company directed the buyers to withdraw orders in order to get our patent."
He burst into tears as he spoke.
"I'm sorry..." Coralie said.
After that, she frowned. She felt that it was silly for her to sympathize with the kidnapper when she was
being held hostage.
Although she couldn't really figure out his age, he was still a man and men usually wouldn't shed tears
easily. It must have affected him so much for him to cry at that point.
He was even more stunned after Coralie apologized to him. He looked up at Coralie and said, "You
don't seem to be like your husband at all. I didn't know about this previously, but recently, I learnt that Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Leonardo would do anything for money."
"Is that so..." Coralie said.
She lowered her head. The night breeze was starting to feel a little too chilly.
She had never paid attention to how Yohan managed his business. She felt that these things had
nothing to do with her.
However, after listening to this, if it was true, this would probably reveal Yohan's actual character.
"Yes, you saw how he has been progressing quickly in A City recently, right? I don't know how many
more families and factories like us have been..." Jerry said.
"What are you talking about? Didn't I tell you not to talk to her?" Tom yelled.
He must have come back when the both of them were talking.
Tom immediately stopped Jerry when he heard what Jerry was saying.
His voice was loud and it echoed in the space.
Coralie realized that she was in a large space. After observing until this moment, she believed that she
was in an abandoned site or a construction building.
"Tom, I was just casually asking her," Jerry replied.
"Why are you asking? Didn't I tell you that birds of a feather flock together? If she marries a scumbag
like Leonardo, is she a good person?"
Tom obviously had a prejudice against Coralie.
"Tom, what if she is not that kind of person? Don't you think she is very cooperative with us now?"
Jerry even chose to believe Coralie due to her apology earlier on.
"Cooperate? Not that kind of person? Are you f*cking still living in your own dream? Look at Leonardo.
Do you think he's that kind of scum when you see him? Do you think he is the murderer who forced our
father to die?"
Tom said, frustrated.
When he mentioned their father, he walked over and kicked Coralie to vent his anger.
Coralie didn't expect that he would come over and kick her and she fell on her side and moaned in
pain.
"Tom," Jerry called out.
"Shut up, hurry up, and think about what we can do!" Tom instructed.
"Tom, why don't we call him? Let's not talk about the kidnapping first. Let's call him to get back the
patent. If he returns it to us, we will let her go."
Jerry suggested.
Tom also felt that it was a good idea.
Actually, they were also afraid of going to jail. It would be great if things could be settled this way.
Without any hesitation, they called Yohan.
Yohan's mobile phone for business was turned on 24/7 since Coralie was kidnapped.
"Leonardo! It's me, Tom, from Forestian Stationery," Tom introduced himself.
"Oh, I know. You're Mario's son, aren't you?" Yohan said.
Yohan immediately made the connection when Tom mentioned his company.
It was a very quiet night. Coralie could clearly hear Yohan's words.
