Chapter 222
"Give me one good reason she laid a hand on you!" Brian ground out. His voice was heavy with barely restrained anger as he faced Madelyn.
"Well... it might be because of that time with Robert. You know when you crashed at my place? Maybe she got the wrong idea..." Madelyn stammered, her words trembling as much as her hands.
A shadow passed over Brian's eyes as he stared at Madelyn, his silence stretching for a few tense seconds.
"Cough..." The sound of Natalie coughing, trying to clear her lungs, broke the thick air. A waiter had patted her back gently, helping her recover from the choking.
Hearing her, Brian immediately wrapped her in a towel and carried her back to the room.
He laid her gently on the bed with concern deep on his face. "Are you hurting? I'll call Dr. Morales right away!"
Still lying on the bed, Natalie took a few minutes to collect herself. The sharp pain had subsided, and she reached out, gripping the hem of Brian's shirt, her voice soft but firm. "No need. It's no big deal. Just got kicked in the back a few times."
Brian lifted her shirt to inspect the damage. Sure enough, two ugly bruises were marring the skin near an old injury.
"We're going to the hospital," he declared, his brow furrowed with concern.
Hearing the commotion outside, Natalie clutched his shirt tighter and said, "I didn't push her."
Brian's gaze softened as he looked at Natalie's defiant expression.
Even if Natalie had pushed Madelyn, it didn't matter. From the way Madelyn phrased it, it was jealousy that drove her actions. A part of him enjoyed seeing her jealous over him.
"Don't worry about what others are saying," Brian replied after a pause, his voice low and soothing.
He didn't care about the gossip and knew Natalie understood that.
After Brian's call, Dr. Morales gave instructions over the phone. Brian gently pressed near Natalie's spine, and when she didn't wince in pain, he knew nothing was broken.
He carried her into the bathroom and had her sit on the sofa while he helped her out of her soaking clothes. Even inside, Natalie shivered uncontrollably.
His heart clenched when he saw her lips turning pale from the cold, and he lifted her into the bathtub.
He adjusted the water to a warm, comforting temperature and began to rinse the debris from her hair. Halfway through, he kissed her forehead and said guiltily, "It's my fault. I should never

have let her come near you."
He regretted just slapping Madelyn. No one had the right to hurt his girl!
Struggling to sit up, Natalie leaned against him and whispered after a few seconds, "Once I'm.
the owner of Majestic Meadows Manor, I can throw Madelyn out, right? And you won't interfere?"
"Yes," Brian answered with a single, resolute word.
"Don't you dare regret it," Natalie murmured, her voice quivering.
Brian never regretted anything he gave her as long as she didn't regret it.
Natalie looked up, locking eyes with Brian. Then her gaze dropped to his lips.
She leaned in, peppering his lips with kiss after kiss.
Brian was stunned, but soon his eyes

heavily, his voice husky with emotion, "Are you sure?"
Without a word, Natalie climbed onto his lap, her fingers working on the buttons
