Two Times the Charm

Chapter 173

Chapter 173

After saying that, she walked away with Alex in her arms.

Clara was left alone, the injustice she felt inside was beyond words.

Suddenly…

Someone took her hand.

Clara looked up, it was Aiden.

“Mom, don’t be mad‘ Granny is not usually like this, she’s really nice to me and to Alex, she just doesn’t know the whole story, so…

Clara lowered her head, picked him up, and smiled, “Mom’s not mad! Don’t worry about me! I know your granny is just trying to protect you guys, seeing her like this, I should be happy!”

“But Mom, you are crying…

Aiden reached out his little hand and gently wiped the tear from her eye.

Clara quickly wiped away her tears, “I’m crying, not because your granny scolded me, but because… it’s so nice to see that someone truly loves you and Alex“” Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Growing up, she never received much love and care, let alone someone considering her feelings.

Now seeing the two kids being so cherished, she was truly happy.

“Mom, Granny is not usually so strict! When I was little my father didn’t care about me, Granny took care of me, so she loves us a lot!” Aiden thought for a moment, “Should I…talk to Granny and explain?

Let her know that Mom also loves us a lot!”

“No need You and Alex don’t have to do anything for me! Granny loving you guys is a good thing in itself, if she sees you guys trying to defend me, she’ll be upset! Granny is really good to you guys, that’s enough! Mom’s okay.” Clara stroked her son’s head, “Alright, go find Alex and your granny! Otherwise, you’ll miss out on the new toys they brought ”

Seeing his mother didn’t want to talk anymore, Aiden nodded reluctantly.

“Okay, I’m going then, Mom!”

“Have fun!”

Clara watched Aiden leave, biting her lip lightly, trying to suppress her emotions.

After a while, Emmett, having changed his clothes, came downstairs.

Seeing Clara lost in thought, he walked over.

“What are you thinking about?”

“Nothing, nothing! I was just thinking, your mother really loves these two kids, they’re so lucky.”

Emmett frowned, “Did she give you a hard time again?”

“No Clara said, “You’re overthinking it, I just saw your mother taking the kids to buy toys! They’re well taken care of by her.”

“Right Emmett nodded, but sighed soon after, That’s exactly why I’m worried! I fear that they’re so used to getting what they want that they might break down at the slightest setback when they grow up! My

mother, as much as she loves them, can’t always be there to protect them! What will they do when they need to be independent?”

Clara looked at Emmett, “Is that why you didn’t get close to Aiden before?”

“Not really” Emmett admitted, “I didn’t realize the importance of the parent–child relationship before! There’s so much going on with the company, I’m always dealing with all sorts of company matters, and by the time I get home, it’s already late at night, not convenient to disturb them. As a result, I don’t have time to spend with the kids in my everyday life.”
