Chapter 117 What happened to Ella
Chapter 117 What happened to Ella
The taxi arrived at Chuck's Private Hospital, and the taxi driver got out of the car to get some help. Ella
was groggy, slipping in and out of consciousness. When she opened her eyes, she was lying on a
gurney, being wheeled into the hospital. Ella grabbed the nurse's hand, "Please call Chuck for me..."
She knew he was the one person that she could trust at this crucial moment.
The nurse ignored her request and proceeded to push the gurney towards the emergency ward.
"Please tell Chuck, It's Ella. Please. He'll know who it is." Ella felt like she was slipping and her heart
was pounding faster. She almost wanted to take off her clothes since she was feeling very hot all of a
sudden.
An attending physician recognised Ella, and dialed Chuck's phone number.
At that moment, Chuck was resting in his office because he had just finished a 7-hour operation.
When he heard that Ella was in the hospital, he went downstairs quickly.
In the emergency ward on the first floor, Ella was twisting and turning on the hospital bed, in pain.
Chuck immediately detected that there was something wrong. "Take her to an examination room,
pronto." He tried to call Samuel but still couldn't get through. He ordered a nurse to keep calling the
number until she could speak to the owner. He rushed to Ella, to give her a check-up.
Ten minutes later.
The nurse dialed Samuel's phone number dozens of times but couldn't get through. She came into the
examination room, "Sir, there's still no answer." "Keep trying until there is." Chuck spoke softly,
watching as Ella slept. When he had walked into the examination room, Ella was in distress and looked
like a mad woman. He had to ask several nurses to hold her and give her an injection. Once he was
able to, Ella was changed into a hospital gown.
Chuck wasn't entirely sure what had occurred. He looked at her hospital chat, trying to decipher what
had made her react the way she did. Apart from the fever she had, nothing pointed to her state. He
shook his head in confusion.
"Nurse, take some of her blood. We need to get some tests done. I don't want to write down the cause
of this outburst as psychological, until we rule out that her physical health didn't cause this."
The nurse nodded, retrieved some blood samples and took them to the lab. "Sir, there's been an
answer on the phone." The nurse who was tasked to call Samuel's phone, came in and informed him.
Samuel had just got off the plane, when he saw the many missed calls from Chuck's private hospital.
Just then another call came in from the same number. "Hello." He answered hurriedly. "Oh... hi. Hold
for Sir Chuck." the voice on the other end sounded relieved.
"Hello, Samuel. It's Chuck. It's about Ella, she's had an accident. Come to my hospital..." And the
phone hang up. Chuck knew that Samuel would be in shortly.
Samuel originally planned to arrive a day later, but something told him to come back earlier. He wanted
to surprise Ella. From their video calls, he caught glimpses of Ella's discomfort living at the old house
and how sad she felt. Although she was an expert at feigning happiness, Samuel could always read
her. So he dealt with all the cases within the shortest time and flew back to C Country without any stop.
And it was just as well that he came early. He couldn't wait for the car that was assigned to pick him up,
so
He got a taxi to take him to the hospital immediately.
When she saw Samuel leaving in a hurry, Catherine was elated. She turned on her cellphone and
contacted several people secretly.
At the hospital.
Samuel rushed into the ward. Chuck was conversing with a nurse, holding the toxicology report in one
hand. He had a solemn expression on his face, which turned into relief when he saw Samuel. "She is in
here." Chuck pointed to the room infront of him. Ella was in a coma. Samuel threw the briefcase to the
coach and rushed to her bedside.
Ella's hair was wet and her face looked pale with bruises at the corner of her mouth.
Samuel had a bad feeling. He was trembling with fear and anger.
Who had done this to her?
Her shallow breathes comforted him, that she was alive. In her delirium, she kept on muttering "Sum..
Stop... Yang... Save them." The words were very faint, and Samuel had to crouch closer to hear them.
This confused him. To add onto this, she had a hickey on her neck.
He banished the idea that was popping in his head concerning what had happened to her.
His eyes turned red. He turned and saw Chuck standing by the door. "What happened to her?"
Chuck walked towards them and responded, "According to the toxicology report, it appears that Ella
was drugged with chloroform as well as injected with another sedative to keep her immobile... "
Chuck stopped speaking when he saw the expression on Samuel's expression.
Samuel's hands clinched the quilt tightly, his head congested with thoughts and emotions. He fought
back tears in an attempt to maintain composure.
"She was given a high dosage which caused her fever and demented state when she came in."
"Demented?" Samuel asked with a hoarse voice.
"Yes. She was very restless. We had to give her a sedative to calm her down. However, we are not
sure how she will react when she wakes up. We suggest that you stay around, just so that she can see
a familiar face when she comes too." "I'm not going anywhere." Samuel said in a matter-of-factly, sort
of way. He held her hand as the room fell into silence.
Samuel didn't know when Chuck left.
He sat beside her with his eyes closed. His hand held Ella's tightly. He was in deep thought.
A nurse entered to withdraw the needle for her, but other than her, nobody else came in.
After a while, Ella woke up. "Where am I? Samuel... save me." Ella was shaking in confusion. Her soft
whisper caused a spasm in Samuel's heart.
"I'm here." His voice sounded hoarse.
Hearing Samuel's voice, Ella turned around in surprise. His handsome face peered into hers, lovingly.
Ella shut her eyes, as she bathed in the love that he was radiating towards her. She didn't have to
worry any more because Samuel was here.
She touched Samuel's face, and brought him closer to her. "Make my pain go away." These words
caused him to shut his eyes painfully.
He certainly knew what she meant. But he still he could not persuade himself.
He accepted the fact that she had been drugged but he still couldn't persuade himself to have her. Not
in this way, not now.
He retreated from her grasp and stood up upbruptly. He needed some fresh air to clear his mind.
Realising that Samuel was leaving, Ella jumped from the bed and hugged his waist from the back.
"Samuel, I don't feel right. Please don't leave me alone. Stay with me. Make me better." She pleaded,
desperately in need for him. She wanted to forget what had happened a few minutes earlier, even if it
was for a little while.
"I'll call Chuck. I'll be back in a few minutes." Samuel ignored her pleas. Then he strode to the door.
"Samuel! Please. I need you." Her face turned red again. When she was hotel bathroom, she roughly
knew what happened to her.
She also realised that she had been drugged.
She needed her husband to take away the emotional pain.
Just for this moment. Her sweet voice called out to him, and he finally succumbed to her pleas.
At last, he drew the curtain behind the door to cover the glass. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
He held Ella and went into the bathroom. He put her under the shower and let the warm water fall on
her.
Ella didn't understand why Samuel did that. She tried to grab for him, but he pulled away.
This made her sad, and she began to cry. "Samuel, I need you... Please.. Please."
Ella repeated the words like a mantra.
The tears that had threatened to come out earlier, descended down his cheeks.
...
Ella didn't know when Samuel had taken her back home.
She only knew Samuel had gone when she woke up.
She felt happy that
Samuel was there when she needed him.
However, her happiness turned into sadness and worry when she thought about Yang. She went
downstairs quickly and called Samuel.
In Samuel's Law Office.
Anna had worked for Samuel for several years but she had never seen him act the way he was acting
on that day.
He walked into the office, dishevelled and with a frightened expression on his face in the early morning.
He had been in his office for three hours now, and he had been making phone calls all that time.
His office door was closed, which was unusual. His door was always open. Occasionally when she
looked at him through the window, Samuel was angrily talking through the phone.
She was scared that the anger that she had seen would be directed towards her. But she needed to
hand in financial reports that were due in today. Finally, Anna got some courage, knocked on the door
and entered the office.
"Yeah... Which hospital is the man in now?" She had Samuel ask. She stood frozen to the ground until
Samuel noticed her presence.
