playing games with me
Pedro then instructed the driver, who was now driving his car, to speed up as their car approached Marco’s. After that, they attempted to cut off the car following Marco’s. However, it seemed they realized that Pedro was onto their motives, prompting them to step on the gas pedal. This led to a high-speed chase between them, with Pedro in pursuit and the other car evading. This disrupted the path of several other cars, causing some minor chaos in the traffic.
When Pedro instructed their driver to cut the car off, suddenly the car veered, causing Pedro’s car to be unable to avoid it perfectly. As a result, Jacob’s people’s car collided with the side of Pedro’s car, causing both vehicles to spin in the midst of the relatively busy traffic.
Pedro caught a glimpse of the people inside the car, but as he attempted to get out of his car to apprehend them, the car swiftly restarted and drove away. Pedro hurried to run, knowing he wouldn’t be able to catch the car. Consequently, he could only roughly wipe his face as he lost the person he was about to capture by a hair’s breadth.
Pedro then looked at the car he was in, with its damaged side. However, it seemed he could quickly provide the license plate to someone reliable to track the car. Who could that be?
“Let’s go back to Mr. Marco,” Pedro said, making the driver nod. Fortunately, their car was still drivable, and they were unharmed, with no more serious damage to the vehicle.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Marco had stopped the car he was driving, making Letta smile broadly as they arrived at a park that Letta had seen several times while heading to the hospital.
“Fortunately, the weather is nice,” Letta said, making Marco smile too.
“Look, there are many people in this park,” Marco said, looking around. Since the park was in the city center, it was always bustling with visitors, whether for exercise or just to enjoy the fresh air, at any time and under any circumstances.
“What’s wrong with that? Isn’t it good? I like the hustle and bustle,” Letta said, then pulled Marco into the midst of the crowd around them.
“We should find a shaded place to sit,” Marco said, scanning around, and finally, he found a seat under a nearby tree.
“That’s too far from people,” Letta whined, causing Marco to immediately gaze at her with a serious look.
“Because only that seat isn’t too hot. Do you want to swelter in the middle of that seat over there? Look at the weather, it’s not morning anymore, it’s already noon,” Marco said again, making Letta finally reluctantly follow her husband’s words. “Fine, suit yourself,” Letta said, finally following Marco’s lead to the seat.
“Look, here we can still watch the people in front of us, and the air isn’t too hot either,” Marco said, sitting next to Letta and leaning back. Marco then kept surveying the surroundings. Pedro hadn’t appeared yet, indicating that his men were still handling the car, Marco thought.
Meanwhile, Letta began scanning around for something else.
“Are you looking for something?” Marco asked, making Letta nod.
“Yes, the ice cream cone I bought. I already know it tastes good, so I want to buy it again,” Letta said, making Marco also search for it.
“Perhaps they’re on a break,” Marco answered, causing Letta to pout.
“It’s delicious though,” Letta said sadly, causing Marco to look toward another food truck.
“Seems like a food truck. Do you want to buy something from there?” Marco asked, making Letta look toward the truck, which turned out to be a burger and hot dog truck. However, Letta wasn’t particularly fond of it, and her appetite didn’t desire heavy food. Letta shook her head.
“I don’t feel like having that. I want something fresh,” Letta said again, making Marco look at her once more.
“But there’s no other food vendor here. I’m trying to persuade you to leave this park,” Marco said, trying to convince Letta to leave soon.
“Then what do you want? I can buy it elsewhere if you want,” Marco replied, to which Letta swiftly responded.
“Ice cream, of course. Even though I couldn’t get the ice cream cone from the truck earlier, we can get the ice cream from the place you recommend, right?” Letta said with a broad smile, making Marco merely curl his lips. Somehow, his wife seemed to really love that cold treat, Marco thought, causing Letta to nod in agreement.
“Alright then. After we return from this park, we’ll go to the ice cream shop,” Marco said, making Letta immediately nod in agreement. They fell silent for a moment, with Letta continuing to observe the bustle around her. However, Marco’s thoughts paused as he noticed Pedro approaching his parked car not far from the park. Yet, what puzzled Marco slightly was the condition of the car Pedro was driving. Certainly, there was a dent on the rear side. Something must have happened, Marco thought, and he gently rubbed Letta’s shoulder.
“Do we need to leave now?” Marco said, making Letta shake her head.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“I’m still enjoying it,” Letta said, seemingly unyielding to Marco’s insistence.
Meanwhile, as Pedro and Marco conversed in a separate place, Marco approached Pedro with an uncontrollable sense of anxiety. Marco was worried that something bad had happened to Letta, especially after seeing the seat that Letta had previously occupied empty.
“Alright, then wait here, don’t go anywhere, okay? I need to find a restroom first,” Marco said, making Letta nod.
“Yeah, go ahead. I’ll keep waiting here for you,” Letta said, making Marco finally get up from his seat. Marco had to lie to Letta because he didn’t want her to be suspicious or frightened upon seeing Pedro’s car in that condition. Marco approached Pedro directly.
“Let’s talk elsewhere, don’t let Letta see the condition of this car and us talking,” Marco said, making Pedro nod. Pedro instructed the driver to park the car far from Marco’s location. Pedro followed Marco’s steps.
“What happened?” Marco asked.
“Well, the car was indeed following yours,” Pedro replied.
“Then what happened to your car?” Marco asked.
“Earlier, I tried to stop their car. But suddenly they, seemed like daredevils, had no intention of stopping or being caught. So, we were engaged in a chase, and they rammed into the car pretty swiftly. But when I tried to get out of the car, they quickly sped off again. But don’t worry, Sir, I tried to find out their license plate. I’ll investigate until we find that person,” Pedro said, making Marco fall silent.
“Yes, you should, because I don’t want anyone playing games with me,” Marco replied.
“Alright, you take care of everything and just dispose of the car you’re driving now. Replace it with a new one,” Marco said, making Pedro simply nod obediently. Marco was then startled as he realized that danger might be lurking. However, Marco was leaving Letta alone in the park, prompting him to quickly turn back and run towards where Letta was waiting. Marco felt foolish for being lax for a few moments, and his steps halted. Similarly, Pedro, following his master, looked anxious as the seat that Letta had previously occupied appeared empty. Marco’s heart raced, worried about what might have happened to Letta.
