Chapter 1180
Chapter 1180
Silence hung over them after Jenny’s remark. It was so quiet that the only sounds heard were their breathing. Eric and Lynette were shocked at how casually Jenny dropped the information, which was different from what they had anticipated. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Mrs. Dafoe, you look shocked. Do you need to take a breather in the bathroom?” Jenny stared at Lynette.
Lynette wanted to say that was unnecessary, but she noticed the look in Jenny’s eyes and guessed that her daughter had other plans. “You’re right. I need to leave for a moment to calm down.”
She looked at Eric. He caught the back-and-forth between Lynette and Jenny but was not too bothered because he knew they could not do much in his territory.
“Go. Call me if you need anything,’ he said to her. She nodded with a wry smile and headed for the bathroom. When she was far away, Eric’s expression changed. He wiped the fake smile off his face. “Miss Walter, what are you up to?”
“Mr. Dafoe, you’re overthinking things. I really want to work with you. I think Bayside City is a decent place. If the Walters ever expands our business here, we’ll still need your support,” she assured him with a smile.
He glanced at her, not believing a single word out of the mouth of this shrewd young lady. Still, he couldn’t be bothered to call her out because he would soon find out about her plan.
“Are you saying the Walters wants to expand in Bayside City? Why? Is Bardoff City too cramped for the Ten Elites?” he scoffed, sounding disdainful at the mention of the Ten Elites.
Jenny didn’t mind his arrogance, knowing he was born into wealth. “That’s right. Everyone’s looking for better opportunities elsewhere. We’re the same.”
“Hah! And what’s your plan for the partnership?” he asked. Next, Jenny started bluffing him. She was not a business expert, but she learned a few tricks after spending time with Alec.
Meanwhile, Lynette was trying to calm down in the bathroom. She started thinking about the reason Jenny wanted her to come there. Someone entered the bathroom, interrupting her thoughts. When she turned around, she immediately understood Jenny’s intention.
“Nettie.” Graham’s eyes were brimming with tears as he stared at the woman in front of him in a daze. He had never thought that he could see her again in this life.
Her first reaction upon seeing him was panic. “Why are you here? Leave right now!” She was scared that Eric’s men would spot them together. If Eric learned about their short encounter, given his character, he would never spare Graham.
“Nettie, how have you been doing over the years?” Graham ignored her words and pressed on.
Tears filled her eyes when she felt his care for her. “I’m pretty good. How about you?”
“I-I’m not,” he confessed to her. “Life hasn’t been good ever since you left.”
“How is that so? I heard you got married and had a daughter.” Lynette smiled bitterly. She picked up the details from Eric, who would spite her with Graham’s life updates during their arguments to force her into giving up on him.
Graham felt a little sorry for Lynette when she mentioned his second marriage. “I’m sorry, Nettie. I was…”
“You don’t have to explain to me. I’ve been married for years now. We have our lives. You shouldn’t come looking for me anymore.” She refused to listen to him. No matter the reason behind his second marriage, it wouldn’t change the fact that he was a married man.
