The Woman From Hell

"Hello, I'm looking for Mr. Zeke."

I took out some free time and went looking for Gareth.

The housekeeper looked at me carefully and recognized me before slowly responding, "I'm sorry. Miss Lane but Mr. Zeke is on a business trip and won't be around for a few days. I'm afraid you will have to come back in two days."

"How unfortunate, then I'll come back another day." I thanked the housekeeper and turned to leave. I bumped into a woman who had flowers in her hand when I reached an intersection. "I'm sorry, are you all right?" "It's okay."

She had a nice voice and looked to be in her early forties.

Gareth's household was the only one here. Could she have also come to look for him?

"Did you also come for Mr. Zeke? He went on a business trip," I informed her.

The woman looked up at me and froze.

I could clearly see the shock in her eyes and she proceeded to stare at me for a long time.

Her increasingly warm gaze made me a little uncomfortable and I stepped back. "I'm sorry. I'll be leaving now."

However, she then reached her hand out and stopped me. "Young lady, do you know Gareth?"

"Uh, yes. I've met him a few times before, but we're not very familiar."

The woman looked at me, even raising her hand closer to me but then dropping it. She probably felt that it would be inappropriate. "Isn't Gareth surprised when she saw you?"

She knew Gareth, she probably knew what happened to him too.

I thought of getting information from her so I calmed myself and asked, "He never mentioned it. Do I look like someone you know? Is that why you asked?"

However, in the next second, it was as if the woman had just woken up from a dream and she shook her head. "I'm sorry, that was a little gaffe for me. Gareth is on a business trip. You can come back in two days." Gareth...

So, they were close?

I frowned. I noticed that she was dressed rather affluently and wondered if she could be Gareth's wife.

No. I did not hear anything about Gareth getting married.

Not being able to reach a conclusion despite pondering for some time, I looked up at the woman's back again. She had arrived at the door and when the housekeeper saw her, she let her in immediately. She must be someone close to them.

Who was she to Gareth? She obviously recognized my mother which would explain her behavior just now.

I slowly made to leave the place while holding onto my curiosity.

Back in Green Orange, Shannon immediately noticed I was being absent-minded and snapped me out of it. "Is your mind wandering again?"

Her voice dragged my attention back. "I was thinking about something. By the way, where is Marius?"

"He said he was exhausted from the past two days. We finally got you to come back so he's resting at home."

"Okay, got it."

My absence the past few days really made Marius suffer a lot, so I did not think much about his absence.

"By the way, Wanda, you and Theo made a big splash this time. I heard that Nibel endured a lot of pressure after he went back. News here has spread abroad."

"Theo already blocked off much of the press, but it's still unavoidable. Nibel can only handle it himself."

Shannon nodded. "He has to pay a price after doing so many things. I admire you and Theo for this."

"It's all thanks to everyone."
