Chapter 1908
Chapter 1908
Enraged, Quinton wanted to go after Stefan to teach him a lesson.
"Forget it, Quinton!" Renee hurriedly stopped her brother. "He's free to make his own choices; It isn't illegal for him to break up with me, so we have no right to guilt-trip him. We can lead a good life without him too!" Renee had thought things over, and now, she was looking forward to a bright future. She felt much more relaxed, like a burden had been lifted off her.
"Are you not upset at all?" Quinton turned to look at Renee, surprised to see her looking better than she had in a long time. She looked like she had emerged from a battlefield victorious, and it even made Quinton feel happy. However, Quinton knew that Renee and Stefan's bond was very deep, and it wasn't something that could disappear in a day or two. He wondered if she was just pretending.
"Yes, I'm not." Renee smiled. "What's there to be upset about? He's not the only man in the world. I could get a great man if I wanted to since I'm still young. I can lead a good life even if I'm not in a relationship, so there's no need to try to revive a dead romance. Wouldn't you agree, Quinton?"
Quinton remained silent but Leia clapped her hands and said excitedly, "I completely agree! Congratulations, sis, you've finally seen the light! It's fine if you lose this romance. Men are just like buses after all-even if you miss this one, there'll be another coming by soon!"Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Lei, I knew you would understand me!" Renee gave Leia a high five. Women would only have that kind of mentality after getting their hearts broken in a relationship or falling in love with the wrong person.
Quinton no longer tried to figure out Renee's true feelings about Stefan. He looked at Adie, who was much quieter than usual. He carried his nephew and pretended to sound serious. "Now, I would like to interrogate you. What happened to you? We could have brought you back, so why did you tell us to not come and get you? You even threatened us!
"Well, that..." Adie glanced at Renee and lowered his head guiltily. "Let's talk about that another time. I don't dare to do it now."
Renee scowled at her son and demanded, "Yeah, I haven't asked you about that yet. You knew that everyone was worried about you, so why were you misbehaving? You even joked about taking your life. Don't you think that was very insensible of you?"
"Yes, it was. I was wrong, Mommy." Adie kept his head low, his eyes watery. He looked quite pitiful.
Leia hurriedly tried to defend him. "Guys, there's no need to scold him like this. He's still a kid, and he just experienced something traumatic. Come here, Adie. Poor boy, I know you've suffered. Let's just ignore those fierce adults!" Leia said soothingly, taking Adie from Quinton.
When Leia said those things, Adie's restraint broke. He burst into tears and wrapped his arms tightly around Leia's neck like a koala, refusing to let go.
Renee and Quinton turned to each other, completely dumbfounded.
"What's the matter with him? Is he sick or something? Why is he crying so loudly?" Quinton asked anxiously.
