Chapter 233
The next day, Shakira didn't have a shift scheduled but she still got up early, planning to set up some little houses in the yard for the big cats. As she went downstairs, she saw Matthew gathering about ten gardeners. It seemed that they were about to start some important project.
Levi was happy that Shakira was in a good mood. "Ms. Nelson." Confused, Shakira watched the gardeners head out. "What's going on?"
Levi explained with a cheerful smile, "There's a net around the alligator pond. Cats are good climbers. They could easily end up climbing into it. For their safety. I've asked the workers to replace the net with some metal columns so they will be safe." Shakira felt it heartwarming so she sincerely said, "Thank you."
Levi felt flattered. "Ms. Nelson, you don't need to thank me. It's what I'm supposed to do. Ever since you came here, it has been a much livelier place, starting to feel like a cozy home."
Shakira's eyes sparkled. She recalled what Fiona said last night and asked impulsively, "Levi, do you mind what Fiona said last night?"
Levi looked more relaxed and determined. "Understanding a person isn't just about listening to what others say. It's more about observing what they do." He sighed, "It's all about a person's actions, not his words. Ms. Nelson, you saved Mr. Lopez." Hearing this, Shakira suddenly understood something. A gentle smile appeared on her face. She said, "Okay."
After breakfast, Shakira joined in the renovation work too. Noticing that the big cats were skillful climbers, Shakira set up some tools on the trees for them to play with.
To them, this vast manor was like a natural playground where they could freely explore and have adventures.
The Nelson family ate the breakfast together and watched the news on TV. Rebecca's face turned dark.
"The Banks family is a well-known family. How could their daughter be so narrow-minded? She turned a major reality show into a mess all by herself."
Rebecca had put in lots of effort just to get Yvette and Felix onto this show. But then Fiona completely ruined the show's reputation.
There was a flood of criticism online. The Banks family stopped investing it and the show was suspended for authorities investigation. No one knew when filming could resume.
Yvette gently sipped the oatmeal and softly said, "It's good that these issues were discovered before the show aired. If it had happened after the first episode, the damage would have been worse." It was the only comfort she could offer now.
Rebecca nodded and then she suddenly remembered something "Right. You should spend more time with Dr. Lonely-Bird taking advantage of this to build rapport."
Yvette's stiffened. The hand that was holding the spoon paused
Rebecca looked impressed. "In just three days, Dr. Lonely Bird has gained lots of fans among medical students. Even some from the older generation admire and support her.
"Yesterday, before everything was figured out, many patients voluntarily defended Dr. Lonely Bird's innocence at the entrance of Haruca Hospital. Not everyone can do this!"
Even Selena expressed her admiration for her. "That kid is blessed with such wonderful talent. Even Matthew said she was good. Now, so many people are supporting her. I wonder who is so lucky to have such an amazing daughter!" 07:45 Sat, Nov 9
Yvette gradually tightened her grip on the spoon.
Rebecca said confidently, glancing at Yvette, "Mom, Yvette is also very talented. She will surely bring us glory in the future."
Yvette's face lit up again, with a smile. Her eyes were glistening.
Selena chuckled, "You're right. Who knows? Maybe Yvette will be more famous than Dr. Lonely Bird one day."
Yvette was just about to say something when Felix, who had been silent, abruptly banged his forks on the table with a loud sound. Everyone turned to him, surprised.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Felix's face was unreadable when he stood up and said, Tm full. Suddenly, recalling what Rebecca talked about earlier, he said. "Forget about Dr. Lonely Bird. We've made it totally impossible yesterday."
Yvette's smile, which she had just appeared on her face, disappeared instantly.
Selena asked, "What? Felix, what do you mean? What did you do that offended Dr. Lonely Bird?"
Cody frowned and asked with a serious look, "Haven't you been on good terms with Dr. Lonely Bird? How did you offend him?"
Felix clamped his lips together tightly with a serious face without saying a word.
Everyone else turned to Yvette, asking her to explain what had happened.
Underneath the table, Yvette grasped the tablecloth, trying her best to look calm and composed. After a while, she blinked
eyes turning red with helplessness and grievance.
She said, "Yesterday, the Banks family barged into the hospital with witnesses and evidence. We thought it was certain that Dr. Lonely Bird had prescribed the wrong medication but he still denied it."
As Yvette spoke, she unconsciously bit her lips. Her blood flew into her mouth. She said, "The atmosphere was thick with tension. I was worried the Banks family might do something irrational so I persuaded Dr. Lonely Bird to apologize and admit her mistake." Selena was shocked. "What?"
Everyone else's expression changed dramatically too. Selena was so angry she beat her breast and stamped her foot. "Why did you interfere with it?"
Cody looked grim. He angrily scolded, "What do you mean? It's sure thing? Until the police release an official report, everything is uncertain. You were just beyond yourself!"
Such harsh words left Yvette shaking with tears. Her lips were quivering with sadness and frustration too. She said, "I I didn't know Dr. Lonely Bird had surveillance footage to prove her innocence.
"If she had shown it to everyone sooner, I wouldn't have said those things. I genuinely wanted to help her
Tears fell one by one into the bowl in front of Yvette from her eyes. Seeing this, Rebecca felt heartbroken.
"Honey, don't cry. I know you didn't want this to happen. Who would've thought Dr. Lonely Bird had evidence? Rebecca gently comforted Yvette.
"Don't cry. You're not in a good and this isn't such a big deal. You aren't well. You just made a mistake when you wanted to do something good. You just offended someone, So be it she continued. Yvette cried, "Mom!"
She buried her face in Rebecca's arms, crying and reflecting on herself, "I won't make the same mistake again"
07:45 Sat, Nov 9.
Hearing her admit his mistake in a soft and sweet voice, Rebecca couldn't bring herself to scold her.
Rebecca said, "Alright, alright. If you know you were wrong and want to change, you're still a good child. No more tears, okay?"
Yvette nodded, still crying.
Felix thought, 'Just a well-intentioned mistake?"
Felix looked at Rebecca and Yvette. When he heard Rebecca's words, his heart somehow sank. He turned around and quietly left.
Finn shot a glance and Rebecca and Yvette and murmured that he was going to the office. Then he stood up and followed behind Felix.
