Chapter 226
Howard's face turned pale instantly. "I didn't, I didn't do it!"
Fiona was already fuming, her eyes blazing with rage as she looked at Shakira. "Lonely Bird, will you ever stop? How much more do you want to unfairly accuse people?"
"What's the hurry?" Shakira said coldly, staring at Fiona. "Since the Banks family went through all this trouble to find the culprit who harmed Mrs. Banks, it seems you're more eager to pin the blame on me than actually find the real culprit."
Her eyes suddenly gleamed with a mysterious light. "Or could it be that someone is deliberately stirring things up in the background, willing to sacrifice Mrs. Banks just to frame me?"
Fiona's eyes widened in shock as she instinctively cursed, "You bitch! That's my grandma! Are you accusing me now too?"
Shakira chuckled, her eyes full of mockery. "Did I mention you, Ms. Banks?"
Fiona was frozen in place, and then she bit her lip hard, glaring furiously at Shakira.
George steadied his daughter's trembling shoulders and stepped forward, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Now that you are asking for it, we'll crush your hopes. Mark my words: the more you deny it now, the worse your punishment will be when you're convicted." Fiona looked up in disbelief. "Daddy!"
George gave his daughter a knowing look. "She wants to prove her innocence, so let her gathers, the easier it will be for us when we finally put her away, saving us the trouble."

With a pale face, Fiona secretly clenched her fists, lowered her gaze, and glanced over at Howard.
Howard nodded at her, and Fiona's dark smile reappeared. She thought, 'Shakira, no matter how hard you struggle, you're facing a dead end this time.
Shakira clasped her hands together. "Well, thank you, Mr. Banks, for giving me the chance to prove my innocence."
She then turned to the stern-looking Michael and Kevin. "Mr. Lee, Mr. Jones, I'd like to review the hospital's surveillance footage and the show's recordings."
Michael nodded. "Sure."Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Kevin quickly asked the staff to locate the playback. They acted swiftly, and the hospital's security restored the footage. The office camera, positioned right at the doctor, clearly captured Jaslene entering, consulting, and undergoing treatment. During the conversation, it was also noticeable that Jaslene highly praised Lonely Bird's medical skills. Afterward, Howard entered, and after Shakira left, he sat in front of the computer and started typing on the keyboard.
Howard, watching the footage, quickly defended himself. "Dr. Lonely Bird was in a rush to leave yesterday and left some of the report unfinished. I was helping her complete and upload it at that time."
He specifically pointed out the time. "The report was uploaded at 3:57 PM, and on the surveillance, I was typing at 3:56 PM. Once I finished at 3:57 PM, I didn't touch the keyboard again."
The department head looked through his reading glasses, nodding repeatedly. "That's correct, the times match up." Then he turned to Shakira. "Lonely Bird, is there anything else you want to say now?" Shakira ignored his sarcasm and turned to Kevin. "What about the footage from the show's crew?"
'Even at this point, Lonely Bird is still putting on airs?' The department head thought and snorted through his nose. "I was
sympathetic to you regarding this incident, but now it seems you're getting what you deserve. Serves you right!"
Michael gave him a long look, but the department head pretended not to notice and turned away.
Kevin, of course, didn't dare delay. He immediately had the staff replay the footage from the show's crew.
The show's crew filmed Shakira from a side-rear angle, with the computer facing the window. After Shakira left, Howard walked around the office, casually putting things back in place and closing the window before sitting down. 8%
So in the footage, the screen was reflecting, making it impossible to see what was on the computer screen. One could only vaguely see that he had opened the hospital's internal system.
Editing prescriptions and submitting reports were all done in the system background.
Kevin specifically asked the staff to slow down the video and zoom in on the details, checking frame by frame. But in the end, they couldn't find anything wrong.
Howard slowly released the breath he'd been holding before. He kept his head down, humble and obedient, but secretly, the corners of his mouth had already curled into a satisfied smile.
He closed the window on purpose. As a physics whiz in high school, he'd spotted the camera as soon as he entered the office and wasn't ignoring the show's filming, being extremely cautious.
The window was directly opposite the computer. With just a slight adjustment of the angle, he could ensure the camera wouldn't capture anything at all. 'I absolutely need to get into Haruca Hospital!' He thought.
Just as his smile grew wider, Shakira's casual voice sounded again. "Oh, I almost forgot, there's another camera."
Howard suddenly lifted his head, his eyes wide with fear that grew larger in his pupils. He desperately searched the entire office, thinking, 'What? Another camera? Where?'
Shakira, as if having expected this, kept her eyes fixed on him. Seeing his expression, a smile slowly appeared on her lips.
Kevin and Michael were both taken aback. "Another camera? Isn't there one at the hospital and another for the show? Where's the extra one?"
"Right here." Shakira walked to the window, pushed open the outer glass, and retrieved a peculiar, small surveillance device with a lens from the windowsill behind. It appeared to be...
"Is this a pet feeder?" Kevin asked, feeling uncertain.
Shakira smiled. "Mr. Jones got it right, it's a pet feeder, but I assembled it myself, so it's different from the ones you find in stores."
"No wonder! I have one at home too, and I was wondering why i looked different."
"I've been looking after two stray cats here. Afraid they weren't getting enough to eat, I ordered some tools and whipped up a little app to link with this camera, allowing me to keep an eye on them and make feeding easier." Shakira chuckled to herself, glancing meaningfully at a pale-faced Howard. "Didn't expect it would come in handy today."
