The Marvelous Elijah’s Return

Chapter 182

Chapter 182

Chapter 182 Face to face

Like a madman, Deacon opened fire on the SUV, bullets flying everywhere as he screamed, “Go to hell!”

As the sound of bullets hitting the car from every angle, Matt, Dice, and Rookie kept their head down, and Matt could hear Elijah screaming from the other end of the call, “Matt, say something! Please! Are you guys okay?! Is anyone Hurt? Fucking tell me something, anything!”

“We are okay, boss!” Matt shouted back, because of the deafening sound of the fires.

Finally, silence ceased the atmosphere, and immediately, Dice raised his head, feeling glad that he was working for Elijah because of how built their vehicles were, and even though the car took a lot of hits, a single bullet didn’t penetrate the car.

Staring at Deacon, Dice immediately guess that he was out of bullets, and with a fifty-fifty chance that that was true, he jumped out of the car, causing Rookie to scream, “Dice, no!”

When Deacon saw him coming toward him, he turned to run for his car, but like a wild cat, Dice lunged toward him, grabbing him by the neck as the two dropped to the ground.

Before he knew it, Dice pulled out a gun, pointed it at Deacon, pushed it against his forehead, and said, “Act up, and I will pop your brain!”

“I surrender !” Deacon shouted as Dice shoved the gun harder against his head, ” You all are Elijah’s men, right? All I ask is don’t turn me over to the police, or else he will kill me.”

“Who will kill you!”

“Let me speak to your boss face to face. I will only answer that question to your boss, in his presence.”

Frowning, Dice slightly pulled the trigger back as his jaw tightened and then he sighed, knowing Elijah had been searching for weeks for this dude and killing him would be a useless move.

Without saying a word, Dice lifted the gun and slammed it into Deacon’s head, making him scream, “What the hell!”

Immediately, Matt and Rookie rushed out of the van when Dice slammed him in the back of his head again, making Deacon scream, “If you kill me, I ain’t talking…”

As Dice was going in for a third hit, Rookie grabbed his wirst and said,

That’s enough… A dead man has no voice… Got it?”

Looking at the car with wild eyes, Matt froze at the sight of how much bullets holes got stuck in the metal, and then he said, “Boss, we got him.”

Drawing a deep breath, Elijah sighed, dropping onto the couch, his heartbeat taking a moment to calm down after the stress he went through. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Where’s that bastard?” Elijah said calmly, and yet, his tone carried an edge that sent chills down Matt’s spine.

“Dice has him pinned to the ground,” Matt responded.

Overhearing Matt’s conversation, Deacon struggled to pull his lips from the dirt and then shouted, ignoring the pain in his head, “Is that Elijah! Tell him I am willing to talk if he’s willing to meet up with me and talk!”

Because of the volume of his voice, Elijah picked up on what he said, and his fist tightened as he said to Matt, “Tell Dice to take him to the warehouse. I will be there in Syldavia a couple of hours from now.”

“Okay, boss,” Matt said, looking back at Dice’s knees pressed into Deacon’s spine.

After dropping the call with Matt, Elijah sighed as he woke from the couch and then walked out of the living room, heading for their bedroom.

When he opened the door, Peach immediately raised her face from her palms and woke from the edge of the bed, walking over to him.

Seeing the fear in her eyes, Elijah felt his heart clench, and he quickly moved forward and embraced her body, letting her head to rest on his chest as she clutched his shirt.

“Is Matt okay?” Peach whispered, burying her face deeper into his chest. Nodding softly, Elijah kissed the top of her head. “He is alive. They are all okay.”

With a sniff, Peach closed her eyes as she hugged him tighter and said, “Thank God.”

Pulling away from the hug, Elijah cupped both sides of her face before saying, Everything will be okay.”

Immediately noticing the hesitant look on his face, Peach asked, “What is it?”

“I got to go back to Syldavia. Matt and the others got him. I need answers, love… I need closure..” Elijah said, lowering his height to meet her eyes as he held her by the shoulders with this desperate look in his eyes. “I have to put this all behind me to be babe to move on and-”

“I understand, babe. And I want that for you… I want that for you so badly. I need you to be free from all of this so you can go out with your daughter without looking over your shoulder, or wondering if you’re being followed…”

Caressing his cheek, Peach looked up at him and said, “Just make sure that you come home safe. Promise me.”

With a smile, Elijah hugged her waist closer and muttered, “I promise you.”

After hugging her one last time, Elijah walked over to Piki’s crib and bent down, kissing her on her forehead, feeling his heart aching as he mumbled, “Daddy, will be back before you even know it, okay, love?”

With one last kiss on her cheek, Elijah pulled away from the crib, walked back to

Peach, and raised her chin, claiming her bottom lip slowly, shutting his eyes as they melted into each other’s arms and warm.

The Wearhouse was quiet for a while, and Deacon held in his thoughts as he stared at all the men around him.

But as the minutes became hours, Deacon got frustrated, blurting out, “When will your boss be here?!”

Already pissed at the mere sight of Deacon, Dice didn’t hesitate to slap behind his head and mumbled, “Shut up before I relocate your bones.”

Swallowing hard, Deacon closed his mouth as he looked around the room, seeing everyone glaring at him like they wanted to beat the living shit out of him.

The silence afterward dragged on for a long time before the sound of a helicopter suddenly reached their ears, and the entire Wearhouse seemed to tense up.

“The boss is here,” Matt whispered as the sound of the wind outside the window got louder.

The noise from the chopper finally ceased, and everyone in the warehouse stood their ground, waiting with bated breath for whoever it was who stepped inside the Wearhouse.

After a moment, slowly, the doorknob was twisted, and the door swung open, revealing none other than Elijah himself.

“Boss!” Every man in the room hollered out in unison.

Shutting the door behind him, Elijah smiled at his men, glad to see them in one piece and alive, and he said, “I miss you suckers!”

“Yoohoo, we miss you too, boss!!!” The group yelled at the same time, smiling widely at the sight of their leader.

Taking off his jacket, Elijah walked over to the chair facing Deacon, calmly placed his jacket on the chair arm, and said, “I am here, start talking.”

“I want immunity if I am to talk. You will have to offer me the amount of one million and a safe passage out of Syldavia to any country of my choice.” Deacon replied as he leaned forward.

Frowning, Elijah sat back in his chair, his eyes darkening as he said, “Dice, wake him up.”

Dumbfound by that statement, Deacon looked around, but his confusion was soon clear when Dice picked up the bucket of cold water, approaching him with it.

“Wa-wait… I am awake! I am,” Deacon cried before the bucket of water got poured on him slowly.

Leaning forward, Elijah gave a half- smirk, resting his arm on the table, and said, “That’s the tip of the iceberg… It’s you against every one of us, in the middle of nowhere. Do you think you have some kind of upper hand… I don’t know who you are afraid of killing you, but I might just do the job for him if you piss me off.”

A cold feeling ran down his spine as Deacon swallowed the lump that formed in his throat. He couldn’t say anything else and just stayed silent.

“Here’s my offer… Tell me what’s your deal with Dean and why you tried to assassin Bryan and my men and I will guarantee you that you would make it out of here alive to face jail time.” Elijah proposed, leaning back on the chair as he folded his hands together and looked at the guy.

“I am a dead man either way because if I confess and take him down with me, he’s going to murder me in prison.” Deacon said honestly.

“Is he more powerful than me?”

“No, but-”

“Tell me who it is… the entire truth, and I can offer you this and this only. I can get you transferred to a prison out of state and I can make your life behind bars less of a torment, where you can serve your terms and hopefully have the taste of freedom someday. Elijah calmly said. “I don’t care if you have the secret of the universe in your palm, you attempted to murder my men, and you will go to prison for that. It’s your choice to choose Face to lace

how your experience there will be.”

Even though Deacon wanted a different result than that, he could see in Elijah’s eyes that the man meant every word he was saying, and that humbled Deacon a little bit.

With a sigh, Deacon looked around the room at the guys surrounding him, knowing deep inside that whatever decision he made, was going to cost him his freedom or his life.

“My phone.” Deacon requested softly.

“Why?”Elijah asked curiously.

“I need it to prove to you that I accept your deal.”

“Play me and I will-”

“I promise that I only have one option of survival here, and it’s you.

A couple of minutes later, Deacon had his phone and according to his request, he was placed toward the warehouse wall, facing Ethan and the others with his phone in between them.

After eyeing the guns pointed at him by Dice, Jerome, and Scorpio, Deacon sighed and then activated his screen recording app before making the video call.

It took a couple of rings and then Senator Landon face popped up on the screen and he gave Deacon a death stare.

“You piece of shit! How could you ruin months of planning in a matter of seconds? All you had to do was to aim and fire, the bullet was going to do the job and kill Bryan!”

“Senator Landon, I am sorry.” Deacon said and immediately Elijah’s eyes widened at that name.

The raw shock Elijah felt to know that it was the Senator doing alone had him frozen with his lips slightly agape.

“I swear that I did everything you told me to do! But…” Deacon explained as he rubbed his neck awkwardly, “the plan went south.”

“The media is all over this shit. Where are you?… Report back to me and let’s figure out how to get you out of the country before the police find you.”

“Yes, boss… How about your plan to kill Bryan, if I leave-”

“I will get someone else to do it. You are just as useless as Dean. I told him to shoot Bryan and yet, he pulled the trigger on Elijah, like I give a damn if Elijah lives or dies. Now, bring yourself back to the

mansion quickly!”

“Yes, boss!”

After ending the call, Deacon slowly lowered his phone to the ground, seeing the crazy look in Dice’s eyes, and then he carefully pushed the phone toward Elijah, saying, “The recording of the video call is on there. You can use it however you want. Just make sure I am out of Senator Landon’s reach for the rest of my days.”

Silently, Elijah walked over and took the phone from the floor, and stared at the video on his screen.

“Answer me this… Was Senator Landon ever after my life?” Elijah asked.

“Of course not. It has always been about killing Bryan. He simply used Dean’s hate for you to trick him into killing Bryan. But Dean’s thirst for your blood was greater than the former senator’s manipulative power over him.”

The sense of relief that those words brought Elijah was so strong it almost overwhelmed him to tears.

The fear of having one last enemy out there was finally gone, along with the worry for his family’s safety. The air started to smell like freedom and the tension that hung above his shoulders finally dissipated.

It took a moment, but Elijah got the video on his phone and then he sent it to Bryan

The record was five minutes long, and when five minutes had gone by after Elijah’s message got delivered, in the one minute to make it six, Elijah received a call from Bryan.

“I just watched the video,” Bryan’s voice came over the speaker sounding dumbfounded and hurt.

“You wanted your revenge, the video is yours to use. I have a witness that is also willing to testify against Landon.” Elijah told him with a light heart. “Work with Ryan and my guys to assist you in handling the case and the witness. I am flying back tonight to my family right

now.”

“Elijah,”

“Yes…”

“Thank you for coming through for me today and all other days. You are a great friend, and I will never forget your help.”

Looking at the faces around the room, Elijah smiled in contempt, saying, “I am the thankful and lucky one because of you all that help me in bringing this chapter of my life to an end.”
