Confessing His Feelings
Chapter 71 Confessing His Feelings
Just then, Alfredo’s phone rang and he ignored it at first but it kept ringing and ringing so he had to pick it.
“Hello,” he said.
“Alfredo, this is Nicolas Alfonso’s friend from the police department.” Nicolas said.
“Yes, Nicolas. What is it?” Alfredo asked, concern in his voice.
“Well… uhmmm… Ramos… got… released.” he revealed.
“What?!” Alfredo yelled rising up from his chair.
“What do you mean he was released?” Alfredo asked.
Nicolas cleared his throat. “Look man, I know this is hard for you to hear, but one of his politicians got a very good lawyer for him and showed that we do not have enough evidence to hold him and so he was released for lack of evidence.
“I’m sorry, but I did the best I could even though I know how much this means to you and how you wanted justice for Alfonso and Raven.”
Alfredo felt like the wind had been knocked out of him. All the work he had done to bring Ramos to justice, all the planning and sacrifices he and the rest had made, had all been for nothing as Ramos still walked free.
He felt a deep sense of disappointment and anger, and he wasn’t sure how to process it all.
The police had showed to him how unreliable and corrupt they were.
“And when I tried to fight for him to be detained still saying that we had witnesses who could tell that he had done so many bad things, my boss ordered me to release him or he would have me fired from the police department. So I had no choice.” he said.
Alfredo could barely believe what he was hearing. His boss had essentially blackmailed Nicolas into releasing Ramos, even though they had plenty of evidence against him. It was unbelievable.
“I understand that you were just doing what you were told.” Alfredo said.
“But this is so wrong. I can’t believe that they would do this. They’re supposed to be serving justice, not letting criminals like Ramos walk free. I just can’t wrap my head around it.”
“I know.” Nicolas said.
“I feel terrible about it. But I’ll see what I can do over here. You have my word.”
“I have to tell you, though, that I’m worried about what this means for you and the rest.” Nicolas said.
“Ramos is going to be angry that you’ve been trying to bring him down, and I’m worried that he might try to retaliate.
“You know that he has a lot of politicians supporting him. So it won’t be that easy to just stop him.”
Alfredo’s heart sank. He hadn’t even considered that possibility. But now that Nicolas had brought it up, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread.
He had to make sure he protects his brother as well as Raven.
Raven on the other hand was looking at him and trying to understand what was going on.
“So you guys be careful out there alright?” Nicolas said.
“And you too, Nicolas.” Alfredo said as he ended the call.
Raven still looked a bit confused, so Alfredo decided to fill her in.
“Ramos had been released from custody.” he said.
“Nicolas boss ordered Nicolas to let him go, so he’s back on the streets and that is not good.”
“He’s what!?” Raven asked, his eyes widened in shock.
“That’s terrible!” she exclaimed.
“What are you going to do?”
Alfredo sighed….
“I don’t know. I really don’t know.” he said.
“I’m going to talk to my friends in other places and see if we can come up with a plan to stop him once and for all.
But till then, Raven, I need you to be careful.”
“Don’t you worry about me. I will be careful.” Raven said.
“No, I don’t want you to be careful. I want you to be really and really careful. Ramos would be pissed that you were they one who revealed the location of his mansion so he would have a serious grudge with you.” Alfredo said.
“I understand.” Raven said, her voice serious.
“I promise I’ll be on high alert. I won’t take any risks, and I’ll always have someone with me.”
Alfredo still felt worried, but he knew there wasn’t much more he could do.
“Thank you.” he said.
“I just don’t want anything to happen to you. You’re the most important person in the world to me.”
Raven’s face softened, and she reached out and took his hand.
“And you’re the most important person in the world to me too.” she said.
Alfredo smiled….
“But you know that we haven’t finished what we were discussing before about who your father is.” he said.
“I know… and I’m willing to wait until all these blows over and then we can talk about it.” Raven said.
“I need to discuss this issue right now with Alfonso so that we can come up with a plan and how to stop Ramos once and for all.
We can’t trust the police since they have shown that they can not be trusted. So we have to do this by ourselves and not involve the police in this.” Alfredo said.
Raven nodded…
“I think I know what we can do to stop, Ramos once and for all.” Raven said.NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
“You do? How?” Alfredo asked.
“In order for you to catch a criminal like him, you must be willing to go the extra length to catch such people and kill them before they harm the people you care about.” she said.
“So what idea do you have?” Alfredo asked.
Raven looked at Alfredo with a determined expression on her face.
“We need to set a trap for him.” she said.
“A trap that will lure him in and allow us to catch him once and for all.”
Alfredo was intrigue.
“What kind of trap?” he asked.
“I’ll explain everything when you come back later tonight with Alfonso.” she said.
“I just some time to work out the details.”
“All right.” Alfredo said.
“I’ll come back as soon as I can.” he said.
“Promise?” Raven asked.
Alfredo nodded.
“I promise.”
He bent down and kissed her forehead, then headed for the door.
“You just get the details of your plans ready, I’ll inform Alfonso of the recent issue we have and then we would both return to discuss the plan and see what we can do to execute the plan.” he said.
“Okay.” Raven said.
“I’ll be ready when you get back.”
“I love you.” Alfredo confessed.
Raven looked at him with shock.
“You what now?” she asked.
“I…love… you.” he said again.
Raven smiled…
“That was unexpected. I mean I thought that maybe you were still angry with me and weren’t ready to trust me…. so this was unexpected.”
“Well… the truth is Raven… I’ve been in love with you from the moment I met you when you brought your father, I mean your uncle to my hospital.
I wanted to tell you sooner but there were so many things going on and so I never got the chance to tell you how I felt and finding out that your father is your uncle and your uncle is not your real father was just so over whelming
But I’m willing to let it go and move forward with you Raven.” he said.
Raven smiled…
“Let’s just complete the mission and end Ramos once and for all and then we can do something about these feelings we have for each other.” she said.
“That’s a good idea.” Alfredo said.
“So you go and talk with Alfonso. I’ll sit here and think about the details of our plan then discuss with you guys in the evening.” she said.
“Alright.”he said.
“I’ll be back.”
With one last look, Alfredo left Raven’s room and began to make his way to Alfonso’s room.
As he walked, his thought were a jumble. He was anxious to hear what Raven’s plan was, but he was also worried about what would happen if they went through with it.
Their first plan failed and now Ramos was walking free after committing so many crimes.
As Alfredo approached Alfonso’s door, he felt a sense of dread wash over him. He knew that his brother would not be happy about the news he had just received that Ramos was released.
But he had no choice. He has to tell his brother so that they can come up with another plan to catch Ramos once and for all.
Since the law is not on their side, they have to do it another way.
Taking a deep breath, he knocked on Alfonso’s door.
Alfonso answered the door, his brow furrowed.
“Alfredo.” he said.
“What are you doing here? What’s going on?”
Alfredo took another deep breath and stepped inside.
“We have a problem.” he said.
Alfonso’e eyes narrowed.
“What kind of problem?” he asked.
“It’s about Ramos.” Alfredo said.
“And… what about Ramos?” Alfonso asked.
“I uhmmm… just found out that he’s been released from custody.” Alfredo said.
Alfonso’s opened his eye wide.
“What? That’s impossible!” he said.
“How did that happen?”
“Nicolas told me that his boss ordered him to release Ramos since they don’t have enough evidence stating that Ramos killed a lot of people.
Nicolas said he tried to talk to his boss, but his boss threatened to fire him if he doesn’t compile.
