Cold-blooded
Chapter 37 Cold-blooded
“You think he’ll go along with it?” Alfredo asked after he had taken the phone from Alfonso.
“I’m not sure,” Raven said. “He’s always been cautious, and this is a risky move. But I think I can convince him.”
“Well… with the little time I had spent with your father, I know he can be very careful and too scared to take risk, not because he’s scared but because it might hurt you and he doesn’t want that.
He has been blaming himself that ever since he made that decision to borrow money from Ramos, your life has been turned upside down and it’s all because of him.”
“Honestly, I was pissed at you and my father for keeping such a risky secret from me because you guys were trying to protect me, but if you had told me, I would have convinced my father not to loan any money from that asshole.”
“I’m sorry Raven. I really wish I had a better explanation for my action, but I don’t want to give excuse for what I did.
I was wrong and I didn’t do right and now we are in this mess. So I want to do everything I can to get you and your father out of that mess that could have been avoided.”
“Ssshhhhh! Someone is coming…. I’ll call you later.” Raven said as she ended the call.

The next morning, Raven approached her father and explained the plan to him. She tried to be as clear and convincing as possible, laying out all the pros and cons of the decision.
Her father was quiet for a long time, considering everything she had said.
“I can’t say I’m thrilled about the idea,” he said finally. “But I can see the logic in your reasoning. I just want to make sure you know what you’re getting into.”
“I do,” Raven said. “And I appreciate your concern. But I’m going to do this, whether you approve or not.”
“No, you don’t birdie! You’re putting yourself at risk and it’s because of me. All I ever wanted is for you to leave the life you’ve always wanted and not be a stumbling block to your success.”
“Father, you are not a burden to me. If I had the ability of going back to the past, and you made this kind of decision again, I’ll choose to save you than living a successful life without you.
I love you dad, very much and I don’t want you to get hurt.” Raven said.
Her father looked at her for a long moment, and then he nodded. “I understand birdie and I love you too so much,” he said.
“Just be careful, Raven. I don’t want to lose you.”
“I’ll be as careful as I can,” Raven said, hugging her father tightly. “I promise.”Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
With that, the plan was set in motion. Raven would become Ramos’s right-hand woman, gaining his trust and gathering information to bring him down. It was a dangerous plan, but it was the best chance they had.
She went to Ramos and told her of her decision.
As she stood before Ramos, Raven felt a mixture of fear and determination. She had come to this moment with the intention of telling him that she was ready to become his right-hand woman, but now she wasn’t sure if she could go through with it.
She took a deep breath and looked him in the eye. “I’ll accept your offer,” she said. “But I can’t do it in this way. I’m not cut out for the life you lead.”
Ramos studied her for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, to Raven’s surprise, he nodded. “I understand,”
“I respect your decision,” he continued. “And I appreciate your honesty. It’s not easy to say no to someone like me, so I admire your courage.”
Raven was taken aback by his response. She had expected him to be angry or at least disappointed, but he seemed to be taking it in stride. It gave her hope that they could still work together in some capacity.
“Thank you,” she said. “I want to help you, just not in the way you originally intended.”
Then suddenly Ramos began to Laugh seriously.
“Hahaha… Oh you little naive bitch. Let me tell you something. As part of the job description as my right hand woman is that I get to decide what you do and what not to do.” Ramos said.
“If you think that I’ll just accept your way, then you’re in way over your head. You don’t get to make decision for me, I get to make the decision right here.
Listen bitch, you are not the decision maker but I am. I am the decision maker here! So get it straight into your head.” He said.
“I get to decide what I want you to do. If you try to undermine me again, I’ll not hesitate to put a bullet through your father’s skull, or better yet I’ll feed his flesh to my pet Shark.
And if you think it’s a joke, then watch me.”
“You son of a bitch. If you dare hurt my father, I will kill you and throw your ass into that shark cage for your pet to feed on you. We’ll see how loyal he is to you when it smells your blood.” Raven said, staring at Ramos in the face.
Ramos moves towards her and slaps her.
“You’ve got guts bitch and that’s why I like you. But know that I won’t hesitate to kill your father as well as you if you undermine me.” Ramos said.
“I ain’t afraid of you!” Raven yelled.
“I know…. that’s why I have your father in my custody because you won’t want to do anything that would endanger your father.” Ramos said.
“I’ll also kill those Sanchez brothers when the time is right. If they think they can walk into my estate and kill my men and go free…. Then they ain’t smart.
I will kill every last one of them and one of them, I will feed his flesh to my pet shark.”
“You’re sick,” Raven said, her eyes blazing with anger. “How can you be so cruel? How can you threaten to kill innocent people just to get what you want?”
“I’m not cruel, I’m just being practical,” Ramos said. “These people are nothing but pawns in a game that I’m playing. I have to do what I have to do to win.”
Raven shook her head in disbelief. “That’s not a game, that’s people’s lives you’re messing with,” she said. “How can you be so cold-blooded?”
“It’s not about being cold-blooded,” Ramos said. “It’s about survival. I have to do what I have to do to stay in power, to protect myself. I’m sure you understand that.”
“No, you’re just a piece of shit who doesn’t care about anyone but yourself and anyone who stands against you is your enemy and so you decide to kill them.
“Oh… Raven. You know me so well and that’s why I like you so very much!
‘You’re sick Ramos and you need help.” Raven said.
“You think I’m sick?” Ramos said, his voice filled with amusement. “Well, perhaps I am. But I don’t fucking care!
“Anyone who stands in my way, I will kill them. So if you disobey me Raven, I’ll kill your father and his blood would be on your hands because you didn’t do what you were suppose to do. When I say do what I ask, you do understand?” He said.
“You are a monster!” Raven said.
“A monster? Perhaps. But I’m not the only one,” Ramos said, his eyes cold and calculating. “You’re no better than me, Raven.
We’re both willing to do whatever it takes to get what we want. The only difference is, I’m not afraid to admit it.”
Raven felt a chill run down her spine. It was true, in a way. She was about to do terrible things she had never done before to get what she wants and that’s rescuing her father from Ramos once and for all.
“And now that you have accepted my offer to become my right hand woman. I have an assignment for you…..
