Chapter 25
Katrina's POV
1 stood there shocked, unable to believe what they were saying.
Silas had gotten poisoned?
But when? How?
He was with me up until this morning and it hadn't even been long since I had woken up.
I wasn't aware when he had left, but I'm certain there was no way it would happen,
What happened then?
"Is he alright? How is he doing now? I need to go see him."
He had gotten shot earlier and now it's poison. Was someone trying to make sure that he died?
If someone was then wouldn't it be an insider? Did Silas have a traitor in his Mafia?
At this point, I wouldn't even be surprised. This kind of thing happens all the time.
The person you grew up with could just suddenly turn around and stab you in the back.
To prevent that, you. Just had to believe that everyone was your enemy and treat them like one.
That was one of the things father rammed into my brain.
I would never have a true friend'
He had said this repeatedly while making me leave the friends I had while growing up.This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
He made sure I had grown up without any friends.
I need to go see Silas.
I made to rush off to Silas room but the guard stepped before me, stopping me in my tracks.
I raised my eyes, glaring hard at him as I opened my mouth to demand to know why he had stopped me.
"Where do you think you're going?" He growled, making me step back.
"I need to go see Silas. To make sure he was fine." I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Because it was.
The guard made no move to step away, staring me down with animosity in his eyes
They never hid the fact that they all hated it and I didn't even care. I matched his stare with a glare of my own, my head nched up because of the height difference between us. What right do you have to go and see him?" He asked, his dark eyes piercing into me.
opened my mouth to say that I was his wife, but the words died in my throat.
didn't have that right.

I wasn't truly Silas' wife so couldn't claim myself as his. He had gotten married to me in front of an altar yes. But we hadn't even said the wedding vows.
Our marriage wasn't even registered yet, it was just done in the presence of God.
I never wanted this wedding, and neither did he, so what right do I have to call myself his wife?
None.
And all of his men knew that I wasn't truly Silas' wife. They knew of his hatred for me.
I opened my mouth and closed it repeatedly, words failing to come out.
Without waiting for me to say anything, the guard grabbed my arm, forcefully, pulling me.
"That's what I thought, let's go!" He growled.
Panic set in, and my heart dropped.
Where had they been planning to take me?
He had tried to pull me without letting me know wh
nw where to and I would be foolish to just allow him.
"Where are you taking me? Let me go!" I hissed, thrashing in his hold.
But he was way too strong for me to break free.
My thrashing did little or nothing against him, and to him, it was like a mosquito,
Irritated, I grabbed his hand with mine, biting down into his flesh.
"You little bitch, The guard hissed in pain as he pulled his hand away and in a blink of an eye, my head was hanging, sideways with my cheeks stinging. He had hit me.
I let out a puff of air to re
remove the strands of hair that covered my eyes, rubbing my cheeks to ease the way it stung
He didn't even consider that I was a woman and proceeded to raise his hands to me
My fingers dug into my palm in anger as my eyes darted around, searching for what I could use to cause him extreme pain.
It was something that happened when I got really angry; I'd try to make the person who got me angry go through so much. pain.
"Fighting wouldn't stop your fate, so it's better you confess and give in now," The guard said, not even sparing another glance my way turned away. Confess? Confess to what?
Was he trying to say that I had poisoned Silas??
did all I could to save him last night, even staying up to make sure his fever wouldn't get worse, and now they think I tried
kill him
made all that effort when I could just let the fever do its job and get rid of Silas
Je I look stupid to them?

I resisted the urge to scoff-indisbelief
The accusations almost made me regret what I had done. Was Silas aware of such accusations? Was he the one who sent them to do such?
Was he even awake yet? They said he had been poisoned, and he could still be unconscious.
I didn't know what to think or believe, but I wanted to know if Silas was awake or not.
""What do you
do you mean to confess? I am in
innocent
He ignored my screams of protest, treating my words as if they were nothing.
This had to be some sort of misunderstanding.
But no one was going to listen to me, no one would hear what I had to say.
They all stared at me as they waited for me to agree, doing that would be me placing my. Head to a table and ask them to cut
it off.
It would be an immediate death sentence for me.
And I knew they would like that but I wouldn't give them what they wanted so easily.
My voice echoed down the hallway as he pulled me, the maids watching me silently.
They snickered to themselves as they watched on in glee, their noses turned up
"How stupid of her to try and kill the boss," one of them said, snickering-
"They should kill her already. I don't know why she would be allowed to stay amongst us," Another added
Even maids looked down at me and snickered to themselves.
My eyes met with Veronica's and her lips pulled into a large smile.
"Serves you right," She mouthed.
But I didn't do it.
That's when it all dawned on me.
How easy it was for them to blame me, the fact they had rushed to get me first.
This had to be their plan.
They had framed me just to get rid of me, their hatred for me was enough proof for that.
inally realizing that I stopped fighting against him, letting him pull me along effortlessly.
Oh You finally gave in?" He asked, turning to look at me but I remained quiet, keeping my eyes on the ground before me..
didn't know where I was going, but Zi kept quiet.
he guard continued pulling me and stopped in the living room
et on your knees," He growled, pushing me forward.
asped when I stumbled forward, tripping over my foot.
III
Unable to stop my fall, I hit the ground hard, the cold tile biting into my palms as I struggled to catch my breath
I winced in pain, my knees stinging from the bruises I had just obtained.
Before I could push myself up, I heard it... The slow, deliberate steps of someone walking towards me, each one echoing through the room.
His shoes stopped right in front of my face and I knew who it was before I raised my head.
How interesting to see you in this position, Phillip said, making me whip my head up to look at him.
"What are you doing?" I hissed, pushing myself up.
He lifted his foot, placing it at the back of my head and pushing the back down before I could get up properly.
"Stay on your knees and know your place. You have attempted the life of our leader and you think we would leave you alive?" Phillip asked, his voice dripping with hatred.
I bit down hard on my tongue as I met the floor one more time, anger burning in me.
"This is exactly where you belong. At our feet,"
I had seen Philip at different times, the first time at the wedding with Silas. And others at random.
And never once did I notice the hatred he was directing at me right now.
I didn't poison Silas; I'm being framed," I snapped with my teeth clenched as I remained on the ground.
"Was Silas with you last night? Yes, or yes?" Phillip asked, crouching and reducing the distance between us in the process.
His eyes were filled with accusations as he waited for an obvious answer.
How did they know Silas was with me last night?
I had assumed he had come here because no one was in the hallway at that time, but what if they had seen him and let him?
"Yes but..." I barely started before his sneer cut
1 had already agreed to what he wanted to hear..
"Why'd you take Silas to your room so late, Katrina? What other motive do you have than to finish him off"
I opened my mouth in protest, anger coursing through me. I bite back the words that hang at the tip of my tongue.
de was twisting my words to fit his monologue.
le was making it seem as if I had led Silas to my room last night. And if I wanted to kill him wouldn't I have done so in his
oom?
What reason did I have to bring him to mine only to bring suspicions to myself?
-did nothing of that sort, Phillip, and you know it. Silas had come to my room on his own accord and I only helped him ecause he was having a fever. Why would I attempt to kill him hissed, finally relieved when he took his foot off my face. stantly, I pushed up from the floor, standing to my full height

And he was righ
Ever since the first day, all I felt was hatred for Silas, but that would never make me want to kill him.
And he knew that.
Phillip stared at me with cold eyes, the corners of his lips pulling up.
"You should have left when I gave you the chance to,"
My head instantly shot up, my eyes widening slightly.
He had done this.
"Lock her up. I'd decide what I want to do with her later,"
Without saying anything else she turned around
"Phillip you can't do this," I shook my head as the guards grabbed me,
"And who's going to stop me? Daddy? He would have done so instead of letting his precious daughter stay here. But I guess. sacrifices were always his thing. There was a hidden meaning in his words and I struggled to understand what he meant. -The guard yanked me roughly as Phillip went out of sight.
I glanced around the room, my pulse racing. The guards were armed, each of them staring at me to kill me if I made a funny move.
I knew better than to fight with people that could easily end me, I just had to think about my next plan later on. And that was to escape.
My eyes
met with Alisa's widened eyes as she stared at me in shock, and for a moment, my heart sank.
n too?
Did she think I tried to kill him
I turned my face away as they pulled me, avoiding her gaze that followed me out of sight.
I had to escape from here, but I just needed the right moment to
