Chapter 1364
Edon was ready to point at Chet's nose and snap, but he froze as his brother calmly said, "The chief of the Martial Alliance is here in our residence."
"What? The chief of the Martial Alliance?! You mean..."
"Yeah." Chet nodded somberly, looking at his brother's shocked reaction before adding, "She has been maimed, her cultivation almost lost."
"Then, the spiritron vein..."
"She doesn't have it," Chet replied.
As disappointment showed on Edon's face, Chet continued calmly, "I know what you're thinking-in fact, I was thinking it when I received her. However, she gave it up before she arrived, and the Martial Alliance lost over a hundred martial artists in the battle. There was no shortage of Ascendant ranks, and only she managed to escape, barely alive."
Sighing somberly, Chet concluded, "For me, it's clear from this that the spiritron vein is too important for our family to even touch. Too much greed really consumes you."
Edon lowered his head, clearly doing the math.
When he looked up again, he asked quietly, "What about Jaden? How is he?"
Chet shook his head. "Troy Bearson really did a number on him. No healer in Norsedam could do anything about the poison-we're basically throwing every natural wonder together to brew elixirs just to keep him alive. He's really faring no better than the chief of the Martial Alliance."
Edon was left silent again, and after some thought, he looked up with a frown. "Well, you can't let this go on for Jaden's sake. You should contact Lubor-ask him to get help from Hundred Bane Sect!"
"I already did," Chet chuckled bitterly,
shaking his head. "Lubor in turn
relayed a message from them they
would send their people over to save Jaden, but on two conditions."
Edon did a double take. "What are they?"
"First, our entire family will hence be a vassal of Hundred Bane Sect, with every member taking their Blood Centipede Pills."
"As for the second... We will secretly hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance to them."
"Fuck!" Edon smacked himself on the lap. "They're out of line!"
Chet remained impassive. "That's true, but Hundred Bane Sect made it very clear that the Soulbleeder is one of their finest poisons, and a novelty no one will be able to neutralize. It also spreads through pure vigor, infecting and killing anyone who tries to use pure vigor to move the
molecules."
"That's outrageous!" Edon cried, but he smacked himself on the lap as he came to a realization. "Shit, I get it
now! There's no way the Sons of Zamri could have bought such a poison... Hundred Bane Sect had it in for us in the first place!"
"Hmph. Even an idiot could tell that much." Chet sneered.
"Well, what should we do?" Edon felt a migraine at the thought. "I refuse to put bugs in my own body!"
"There's nothing we can do," Chet replied, shaking his head. "Like I said... All we can do is blame Jaden for coming up short and playing into the hands of those villains."
"Shit!" Edon leapt to his feet, pacing around as he huffed in rage and annoyance. "Are we supposed to just watch as Jaden dies so miserably?!"Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
