Chapter 1328
Jaden almost imploded at the thought-he would be the laughing stock of all martial artists if they heard that his family went begging for his sake! "Where's Stella now?" Jaden leveled a cold look at Chelly.
Seeing that he was really furious, Chelly quickly said, "Dad had her restrained. She will be whipped fifty times per family rules."
"Hah!" Jaden snorted. "That can wait after tomorrow!"
"What? Why?" Chelly was taken aback-she actually believed fifty lashes was enough for Stella's betrayal!
"I will let Stella watch as I crush that cheating loser under my foot, so she'll suffer her lashes willingly!"
With that, Jaden strode off to meet their father.
Chelly actually zoned out just then.
Having met Frank, she could see how composed Frank was compared to her brother-it was almost unusual. "Could Stella be actually right?" she murmured, but she shook her head as soon as the thought crossed her mind. No way! Her brother was second in Skyrank.
Barring the Martial Alliance and those who stayed in seclusion, was there another youth who could beat her brother? "Wait for me, Jaden..." Chelly called out, chasing after Jaden even as she banished the thought.
As always, Kilian Lionheart was seated on the couch in Troy Bearson's office, still as a statue.
Troy was pacing around endlessly before him, his expression clearly anxious.
"Mr. Lionheart, it's been days..." he muttered. "Don't you think Lanecorp has caught on? They've been keeping all our informants out of the loop too..."
"So what if they did?"
Kilian snorted coldly and nonchalantly. "Do you think the spiritron vein is so easily found? Even Volsung Sect had to ask the old fortune-tellers of Haply Hallfor their help pinpointing it. They'd never find it so soon."
Troy was slightly relieved by Kilian's assurance-Volsung Sect would come after him if someone else reached the spiritron vein before they did.
No one would do a thing to Kilian
since he was a sect elder, while Troy
himself would be scapegoated
dying in one piece would actually be
a dream at that point.
Rubbing his hands and smiling, Troy then asked, "By the way, can I just ask... what is the spiritron vein? Why does it sound so... mystical?"
Kilian glared at him coldly right then. "Don't ask questions you shouldn't be asking!"
Troy's heart actually stopped for a beat, and he almost dropped on his rear right then.
"Right, right, of course..." he nodded and bowed apologetically, though he was cursing Kilian inwardly.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
He did not have to tell him if he did not want to-did he have to scare him like that?
Moreover, Kilian treated him like a dog, keeping him in the dark of vital information and was clearly denying him a cut!
Nonetheless, Kilian scowled and changed the subject. "By the way, how are the arrangements for tomorrow?"
