Chapter 979
Hansen chuckled, "I bet watching Anya fish the other day was such a blast that I couldn't resist joining in on the fun myself."
When Anya got home from school and found out that the little one had wandered off to the lake to imitate her fishing, she thought, "I'll wait until it's dark, when both the baby and the fish are asleep, to try fishing again." True to her word, at nine that evening, just as Mia returned from her grad school prep class, Anya grabbed a flashlight and headed out. "Anya, where you off to?" Mia asked.
"Fishing," Anya replied with a grin.
Since Henry was becoming more of a handful as he grew, the house was fortified with tall fences at the front and back doors to keep him from escaping. A white picket fence now surrounded the lake as an extra precaution. With the belief that eating fish makes you smarter, Chef Ning got busy in the kitchen, whipping up a tomato fish dish that filled the house with its mouthwatering aroma.
Soon enough, in full view of everyone, Anya hopped into a car heading to Leo's place for the weekend.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Hansen commented, "That kid's lucky to have crossed paths with Anya."
The chef announced, "Ms. Anya made tomato fish for everyone," adding a reminder that it was suitable for the little one too, though the fish head was Leo's treat.
Mia and Molly, after annoying their dad at the Cedillo family, returned home. But just a couple of days later, Hansen called them back for a fish feast, one needing brain food and the other some health boost.
Henry, determined as ever, stood on a stool with his hands on the table, kicking his legs as he tried to climb up and snag some food.
Mia meticulously picked out the bones and fed Henry small bites of fish. "Open wide," she coaxed.
"Ah- mommy," Henry chirped.
Mia savored her meal while holding her son.
When Andre left, Henry missed his mom's warm, fragrant embrace.
Sometimes, when Mia found a dish perfectly seasoned and easy to digest, she'd call out, "Henry, come here, mommy's got something tasty for you."
The little glutton, with his adorable chubby cheeks, would toddle over, take a bite, then scuttle under the table to play. No amount of calling would bring him out; he was lost in his own little world.
To coax Henry out, even Andre, a man held in high esteem, had to crawl under the table, gently pulling his son out by his tiny feet.
And, of course, another scolding followed for the mischievous little one.
After the sprint class ended, Mia made a trip back to school for her Level 4 exam.
The day before the exam, Cooper called with a checklist, "Don't forget headphones for the Level 4 exam, and grab some batteries for them too. You'll need a pen, and make sure you have your ID, or they won't let you in." Mia, with a playful grin, retorted, "I checked-beating up your brother won't land you in court, just a community mediation."
Three seconds later, the call ended abruptly.
Henry, with his cute little red hat, looked up at his slightly annoyed mom.
Mia knelt down and said softly, "If you don't cause trouble, mom won't scold you."
The little one's survival instincts kicked in, "Love mommy~"
"Mommy loves you too," she said, giving him a peck before he toddled off to play with his dad.
Before long, he found himself in his granddad's care.
On exam day, Mia and Anya entered the exam hall together. After tackling the morning's questions, they stepped out to compare answers, only to find they didn't match at all.
Both were flustered. Seeing the concern on their faces, Leo asked, "Did you two think the Level 4 exam was just one paper?"
Mia replied, "Isn't it?"
Anya blinked, "Isn't it all the same?"
Leo, trying to be gentle, scratched his head. "Mia, all those walnuts my uncle bought you ended up being a waste."
After the exam, before Anya could enjoy some downtime, Leo had her reviewing key points, "Time for some revision."
"Chad!" Anya protested. "I haven't even had a chance to relax yet."
Leo warned, "Finals are coming. If you fail, you'll have to retake the course next year, and the makeup exams are notoriously tough, the kind even Einstein couldn't crack." Anya shot back, "Chad, I might not be the smartest, but I'm not dumb. If Einstein can't solve them, neither can my teacher."
Leo sighed, "...Alright, come here."
Ms. Anya stood her ground.
When Leo tried to catch her, Anya clutched her backpack and dashed off, laughter trailing behind her. "Chad, I'll make you some fish!"
"Enough already, I'm going to turn into a fish if I eat any more."
Even after the sprint class wrapped up, Mia kept returning to the study room, drawn to its intense study vibe.
Denny set aside two hours daily to help Mia and Jamie with their questions.
Anyone else who wanted Denny's help had to wait their turn. If he spent more than two hours with Mia and Jamie, he was pretty much unavailable for others. With exams looming, everyone was on edge.
"Everyone's gawking at Denny,
whoever's prettier gets their
questions answered, huh?
Surrounded by girls all day, living the dream grumbled a man, frustrated
at not getting Denny's ted
Mia noticed Jamie had a thing for Denny. Before Denny could respond, Jamie stood up, "He helps whoever he wants. If you're stuck, ask a teacher. It's not like he's taking your money." "Did you pay him? How? Cash, transfer, or another way?"
Mia fiddled with her hair, staying quiet.
Denny looked up at Jamie, "Sit down."
"I saw you two at a hotel yesterday. Why don't you go to a hotel with me?"
Jamie scoffed, "We just stayed at the same hotel."
Denny stood up for himself, "Alex, Jamie and Mia are my friends. If I treated everyone the same, friendship would mean nothing."
Mia glanced back at Denny. Favoritism in friendship isn't something everyone offers.
"I might not be the best, but I'm more than capable of helping them. If you can't solve a problem I can't you're better off asking a teacher Slandering a woman's private life is the feast gentlemanly thing to do. Don't disgrace us men."
After his speech, he glanced at Jamie before sitting down.
Mia tugged Jamie's sleeve, "Sit down."
Denny's precise wording made it clear to anyone paying attention that there was nothing untoward between Jamie and Denny.
Suddenly, a student named Alex lost
his temper, storming over to Denny. Grabbing a book, he hurled it at Denny's head, "Who are you calling tasteless and embarrassing, Denny? Just because you're book-smart, you think you're better than us? Believe me, I can make sure you don't pass this year."
"Alex, chill. Don't stoop to his level," one of Alex's friends intervened, trying to hold him back.
Nobody likes being disrespected. Denny stood up, grabbed Alex by the collar, and punched him.
Amidst the chaos, Mia sat there, her hands propping up her face, looking at her book. "Ah, without protecting friends, friendship is meaningless." And with that, she stood up.
