Chapter 310
Chapter 310
After that, more people leaped to their feet excitedly.
Most of them were A-list celebrities who rose to fame internationally after playing their acting roles in
Morpheus' masterpiece.
The rest were Morpheus' fans.
Everyone was craning their neck, waiting for the revelation of the mysterious author's identity.
Artemis, who was in the VIP section, furrowed his brows instinctively.
Has the famous author, Morpheus, come to Hallsbay? And the author even plans to show up at the
Oscars? Why did I not know about it?
Instantly, his interest in the mysterious author was piqued.
How interesting!
In the southeast area, Rainie, who had just received the Best Actress trophy, reached out to poke
Bailey's arm and said with a grin, “Everyone is waiting for you to go up to the stage. Why are you still
sitting here? Hurry up and go.”
Bailey cocked her brow. “How did you know it's me?”
Rainie flashed a smile. “You're Master Snowflake and Anonymous. So why can't you be Morpheus as
well? I wouldn't believe it if it were someone else, but if it is you, I think everyone here will be
convinced.”
What a smart woman.
Bailey glanced sideways at her and teased, “Sylvester definitely has a good eye.”
The smile on Rainie's face stiffened at the mention of Sylvester's name.
Bailey curled her lips into a smirk and got up before striding toward the stage.
When she walked past one of the staff members, she snatched the microphone from his hand.
Then, a cool female voice rang out in the square.
“I wrote 'The Alliance' five years ago, 'The Rise of the Planet' four years ago, and 'Men VS Machines'
three years ago. Then, my masterpiece, 'Time Warp,' came out two years ago. As soon as it was
published, it was well-received both nationally and internationally.” Bailey smiled. “Hi, everyone. I'm
Morpheus. As always, thank you for your support and encouragement. I've learned a lot during this
journey, and because of your never-changing support, our Chanaean culture has gone global.”
Utter silence followed.
Countless people searched for the source of that voice in a sea of people. Before long, their gazes
landed on the slender figure standing near the stage.
“It's Bailey Jefferson. She's Ms. Morpheus, whom we have admired for years.”
“It's her; it's her. I wouldn't believe it if it were someone else, but if it's Bailey Jefferson, I'll believe it
unconditionally.”
“Ms. Bailey is as awesome as ever. Oh, my goodness. What should I do? I love her so much. No, no. I
need to talk my brother into pursuing her and making her my sister-in-law.”
“Goodness gracious! How many prominent identities does this woman have? She's so perfect and
capable; she puts us to shame.”
“Is there any man in this world who can be worthy of such a brilliant woman?”
The look of astonishment in Artemis' eyes gradually faded, and he cracked a slight smile.
I should've known this would happen. This woman is so capable. It's not surprising that she has yet
another remarkable identity. Hmm, but she's too perfect. How can I match up with her? To be honest,
I'm now a little worried that I'm not good enough for her. Alas, it's not that good to have such a capable
wife. It's a shame that she outshines me.
Meanwhile, Bailey was just about to go up the stage when the winner of the Oscars' Best Actor walked
up to her with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. With a blush creeping up his neck, he asked, “Are you
really Ms. Morpheus?”
With her brows arched, Bailey gazed at the shy young man in front of her before breaking into a
wheezy chuckle of amusement.
She reached out and patted him on the shoulder approvingly. “You did great. You lived up to my
expectations in the film. We'll work together again when there's a chance.”
The young man grinned and hesitantly handed her the bouquet in his hand. “You showed up too
suddenly, so I didn't prepare any gifts beforehand. This bouquet of flowers is taken from the table. I
hope you don't mind.”
Not expecting this turn of events, Bailey felt a headache coming on.
If she took the flower, Artemis would, no doubt, kick up a fuss.
Even as she stood there near the steps to the stage, she could feel a fiery gaze from the VIP section.
For the sake of her own safety, she surmised that it was better for her not to provoke Artemis' jealousy.
If he snaps, he will do anything to his potential love rival.
“Young man, this flower bouquet should be given to beauty. Besides, you're the star of the ceremony
tonight. I think you should give it to the most beautiful girl here. Don't worry about me. I'm not a young
girl anymore; I don't really like flowers as gifts.”
Uh...
The young man smiled bashfully and replied, “I think you're the most beautiful woman tonight. It's your
work that makes so many people's dreams come true. As the Best Actor, I think it would be great for
me to gift you the first bouquet of flowers.”
Bailey held her head, feeling troubled.
I think I haven't received flowers from Ratemis before. If this kid gives me flowers before Ratemis does,
will Ratemis kick him out of the entertainment industry in a fit of jealousy? Forget it. I'd better not harm
such a great young man. He is indeed very talented in acting. He'll definitely produce more excellent
works for the audience in the future. It'd be a pity if he's blacklisted in the show biz because of Artemis.
As that thought crossed her mind, she leaned toward him and said in a hushed tone, “Do you see that
little girl on the stage? She is my daughter. Now there are some rumors among the public that she is an
illegitimate daughter. The sole reason I show up today is to boost her popularity so that she'll be
deemed to be distinguished in the eyes of others, even if it means making me an object of derision. If
you really want to thank me, give this bouquet of flowers to my daughter. It will attract everyone's
attention to her and make her peers jealous.”
The young man was taken aback for a moment. After it finally sunk in, a hint of respect flashed across
his eyes. “You're a mature, far-sighted person. No wonder you can write those splendid and
magnificent books. It's my honor to portray a character created by you.”
With that, he took back the flowers he handed to her and carefully carried them in his arms. “After you.”
Bailey arched her brow and smiled.
What a smart young man. He has a razor-sharp mind. He deserves his fame as the most influential
rising star of the year.
After Bailey went on the stage, Susan dashed toward her mother and threw herself into Bailey's arms.
Bailey's eyes radiated with motherly love as she hugged Susan back.
The young man gave the flowers to Susan smilingly. “Barbara, you rock. I look forward to future
collaboration with you.”
Susan blinked and looked up at the young man, grinning from ear to ear. “Are you Elliot Sawyer? You
look even more handsome than you do on the screen. Can I marry you when I grow up?”
Since Susan was wearing a headset microphone, everyone at the square heard what she said.
Artemis' expression turned grim instantly. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Elliot Sawyer! How dare that pretty boy target my daughter after failing to hit on my woman! Very well!
I'll have him kicked out right away after the ceremony.
Elliot stroked Susan's hair and shoved the flowers in her hands before turning on his heel to leave the
stage.
This glorious moment belongs to the mother and daughter, and I don't want to intrude.
