Chapter 275
Chapter 275
She couldn't believe her usually smart daughter would devise such a stupid idea.
How could she suggest such a brainless idea?
“Zozo, use the time in prison to adjust your behavior. If you're still this naive by the end, you should
stop thinking about going against Bailey. I'll send you back to Lostaria immediately.”
“No!” Zoey's fists balled as she growled through gritted teeth, “I'll listen to you and adjust my emotions
in prison. Bailey is the reason I got kicked out of the International Socialites Club, so I'll make her pay
for what she did.”
Waverly flashed a satisfied grin. “That's my girl. Don't worry. I'm here for you. I won't let you suffer any
setbacks in the future.”
“Yes, I still have you, Mom.”
Lionel sat on his leather couch in his study in the Gezmond residence. Holding a wineglass, he
narrowed his eyes at the middle-aged man standing across from him. “Come again?” he demanded
with a frown.
The middle-aged man nodded and repeated, “Saunders Group is making a comeback. Its share price
is increasing slowly with an upward tendency. These two days, many shareholders are repurchasing
their shares. Saunders Group's crisis has been resolved.”
“That's impossible.” Lionel held his wineglass tightly and stated slowly, “Under usual circumstances,
Saunders Group can't make a comeback unless someone controls the share price and creates an
illusion that there is an upward trend. Otherwise...”
He faltered and fell silent. His expression turned dark as a thought occurred to him.
D*mn it. Is that woman foolish enough to control the share market to help Saunders Group make a
comeback?
“Check Saunders Group's capital flow and see if there have been any huge fluctuations these few
days.”
“Got it.”
After watching the middle-aged man walk out of his study, Lionel tilted his head back and downed the
red wine.
Victoria, what do you have in mind?
Outside his study, Wendy stood in the corridor and peeked through the gap of the door to see Lionel
drinking alone. Her gaze turned cold as she balled up her fists.
Suddenly, someone's hand landed on her shoulder. Out of instinct, she was about to scream when the
person covered her lips.
She turned at her shoulder to see Kimberly standing behind her.
“Shh!” Kimberly made a zipping motion with her hand before pulling her into the neighboring room.
After the door shut behind them, Wendy said unhappily, “Do you know how scary you were back there?
Why are you sneaking around during the day?”
Kimberly pulled her to the couch. “Wends, you need to calm down. It isn't time to teach Victoria a
lesson yet. You should only take action against her after Lionel destroys Saunders Group completely.”
Wendy's expression turned dark when Victoria's name was mentioned. “It's obvious Lionel is taking the
b*tch's side. If I don't take action amidst the chaos, he'll bring her to a secret place and keep her for
himself once Saunders Group goes bankrupt!”
“It would be great if that were to happen.”
“You...” Wendy huffed. “Are you telling me to turn a blind eye to his actions? Should I allow Lionel to get
a mistress?”
Kimberly reached out to take her hand and patted the back of it to comfort her. “The Saunders family is
in trouble now and might be destroyed any minute. Be patient and wait for a suitable opportunity to
destroy the woman completely.”
Wendy calmed herself down. After a while of silence, she asked, “When do you think is the right
opportunity?”
“When the Saunders family goes bankrupt,” Kimberly revealed. “If Lionel has the guts to keep her as
his secret lover, you can expose her identity. She used to be an arrogant socialite but is now someone
else's mistress. If news gets out, everyone will surely condemn her.”
Wendy pondered over the matter and realized her words made sense. Zoey had also given her the
same suggestion earlier, so she nodded in agreement. “Okay. I'll be patient for a few more days and
destroy her after Saunders Group goes bankrupt.”
Bailey boarded a luxurious cruise ship docked at Hallbay's pier.
She went to the underground warehouse and saw Kayden tied to one of the shelves. Cocking a brow,
she said, “Mr. Jennings, we meet again.”
The man, who had initially closed his eyes to nap, shifted slightly and opened them. Looking at her, he
replied calmly, “Ms. Bailey, you're finally here. I've waited days for your arrival.”
Bailey hooked a chair and dragged it to a spot before him. After taking a seat, she said, “What do you
want to discuss with me?”
Kayden's lips twitched as though he was smiling. “Something that you want, of course. For example,
proof that Mr. White ordered me to add something else in the new drug.”
“Okay. I like how straightforward you are, Mr. Jennings. Tell me your conditions.”
Kayden chuckled. “I think you should be able to guess my conditions, Ms. Jefferson. Let's stop beating
around the bush and get straight to the topic.”
“Ha!” Bailey snorted out loud. “Interesting. Fine. I will release you once you provide evidence that it was
Cadence who instructed you to tamper with the new drug.”
Without warning, Kayden burst out laughing. “Ms. Jefferson, even if I hand you the evidence, I'm afraid
you can't send Mr. White to jail. After all, you just announced to the public two days ago that the drug
isn't contaminated with other substances. Ms. Shurmer is in detention for half a month, so Mr. White
would most probably end up in jail for half a month, too. Getting him locked up for just a few weeks
won't benefit you at all.”
Won't it benefit me? He's wrong. I stand to gain a lot if Cadence ends up in jail for half a month. Once
news of him instructing the person in charge of the pharmaceutical company to tamper with the drug
gets out, his career in the medical industry will be over. That will be his biggest punishment.
“That shouldn't be your concern, Mr. Jennings. Tell me, do you agree to the deal or not?”
Kayden flashed a bitter smile. “I don't think I'm in the position to negotiate with you right now, am I?
Give me a phone so I can contact a subordinate of mine who is safekeeping the evidence.”
“Sure.” Bailey pulled out her phone from her pocket. “Mr. Jennings, you'd better be sure. If you dare to
play any tricks, I'll chop off your head directly.”
After taking her phone, Kayden dialed a number. “Give the stuff to Ms. Bailey. Remember not to alert
Mr. White.”
“Got it, Mr. Jennings.”
After the call ended, Kayden lifted his head to look at Bailey. “Ms. Bailey, are you satisfied now?”
Bailey pulled her phone from his grasp and turned to leave. “I'll ask them to let you go once I get what I
want,” she said as she walked away briskly.
One who commits many injustices is doomed to failure. Kayden, I hope you won't work with the bad
guys in the future.
Upstairs, Bailey leaned on the railing on the deck and told Artemis, “I'm afraid I need you to send some
men to keep watch on Cadence's private mansion. I don't want the sly fox to escape.” Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Artemis chuckled. “How are you planning on punishing Cadence? Are you going to send him to jail? He
won't get convicted that way.”
