Chapter 260
Chapter 260
Ha! The family's making me break off my engagement with Justin myself. What a joke! They're willing
to deny me my happiness just for the sake of their reputation. Scarlett snorted.
Raiden stared at his sister coldly and sighed. “This is the best option Father and I can think of. Since
Justin already has a child with another woman outside, he doesn't have the right to become the
Fletcher family's son-in-law anymore. It's best if you announce the dissolution of your engagement with
him now since the wedding date hasn't been decided yet. This is the only way both families' reputations
can be protected.”
“No.” Standing up from her chair, Scarlett stared at her brother with tears. “I love Justin. Without him,
there's no reason for me to live. I thought you were the only person who truly loved me in this world,
Raiden. In the end, you still stabbed me in the back.”
“Stop messing around.” Raiden frowned. “This concerns the reputation of the whole Fletcher family. As
a daughter of the family, you should put your family's benefit ahead of your personal desires instead of
drowning yourself in your romantic feelings.”
“What a nice brother and father you two are. You two always said you love me, yet when it comes to
the one thing I wanted the most, you two are willing to sacrifice me without even blinking. I'm telling
you, I'm not letting him go. If you all refuse to help me solve this problem, I'll just do it myself.”
Raiden raised his head and asked with a frown, “What are you planning to do?”
Scarlett said through gritted teeth, “Either I agree to Veronique's deal, giving her son the bone marrow
he needs before both of them leave this country, or I find someone to remove them from existence.”
Raiden's pupils constricted. “The first method will endanger your life, and the second will land you in
prison. Is it really worth it for you to destroy your life for a man who betrayed you?”
A bitter smile formed on Scarlett's face as she stumbled backward. “From the moment I knew Justin, I
wanted him. I want to marry him in this life. If you're afraid of getting involved, you should return to
Jadeborough. I'll take care of this matter myself. None of you need to worry about me.”
Before he could speak, Scarlett turned around and left the room.
As Raiden watched her leave, he sighed and sent a message to his father: The Fletcher family only
has one daughter. I do think it's cruel for us, her family, to stand by and watch. As things stand, I can
only lend a helping hand to Scarlett. I hope you'll forgive me, Father.
At the medical base, Zayron pushed a ward door open and entered the room.
As he looked at Maxton, who was lying on the bed, he grinned hideously. “You're still alive after having
your head opened a couple of times? What a strong-willed person you are. I'm impressed.”
Maxton stared at him with a strange look in his eyes. This is my younger brother. We came from the
same mother. Nice! In the future, this idiot will have to refer to me as his elder brother.
Seeing that Maxton was staring at him silently, Zayron felt the goosebumps creeping up his skin. He
glared at Maxton and said, “Don't tell me you're not straight and that you like people of the same
gender instead of a pretty girl like my sister. I'm warning you, I'm very straight, so it's not going to
happen.”
Maxton rolled his eyes and uttered plainly, “I am pretty lucky. Back then, the doctors said I was dead,
yet I survived.”
The smile on Zayron's face instantly vanished when he heard that.
He wasn't stupid. In fact, he was pretty smart.
Even though he looked like a dummy, he had a pretty intelligent mind. Thus, he knew there was a
reason why Maxton suddenly said nonsensical stuff like that.
Still, he couldn't figure out what that was supposed to mean.
“What... are you trying to say?” Zayron asked.
Maxton stared straight at him and said apologetically, “I'm sorry, Idiot. The blood sample you asked me
to steal in the past wasn't Simon's.”
“What? Today isn't April Fool's, you know! Don't try to mess with me, or else I'll kill you!”
Maxton stared at him with a serious expression. “I'm not. The blood sample I stole wasn't Uncle
Simon's, it was my dad's. This means we aren't cousins. We're brothers from the same mother.”
Immediately upon hearing that, Zayron turned around and prepared to leave. “Goodbye.”
“Don't leave!” Maxton panicked and tried to get down from the bed.
However, he hadn't moved for a long while, so his legs were like cotton candy. The moment his feet
were on the ground, he fell.
Hearing the sound of a thud, Zayron stopped in his tracks.
“Ouch...” Maxton started putting on a pitiful act.
Zayron turned around and glared at him. “You're useless, you know that? You can't even walk Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
properly.”
Despite his words, he still stepped forward and helped Maxton up.
Maxton took the opportunity to give him a big hug as he rested his head on his brother's shoulder.
“We've finally reunited, little brother.”
Little brother? What?
Zayron's face was turning pale.
He could accept the fact that Maxton was his brother, but not the fact that he was the younger one.
“Who's your little brother? I'm your elder brother.”
Maxton giggled. “It doesn't matter what we say. Once we meet Bay together again, she'll decide. After
all, we came out of her belly.”
Zayron tugged his hair because he knew what his mother was going to say. This nerd knows how to
make her happy! If she learns that he's her son, she's going to coddle him a lot! I'm already losing the
competition with Susan around, but with him added to our family? I bet I'll become totally worthless in
Bailey's eyes!
Right then, the door opened and Artemis stepped into the room.
When he saw the two kids hugging each other, he was puzzled. “Why are you here, Zayron?”
Zayron pushed Maxton away and narrowed his eyes at Artemis. “Are you really my dad?”
Artemis promptly turned to Maxton, who had returned to the bed, and questioned with furrowed
eyebrows, “What did you tell him?”
With a shrug, Maxton answered, “I just had a happy reunion with my brother. What do you think?”
The man's line of sight once more returned to Zayron. With a smile, he said, “Since you've
acknowledged him as your brother, you should acknowledge me as your father now.”
He tried to make himself sound casual, but an attentive listener could hear the quiver in his voice.
After all, the truth was revealed too suddenly, and he hadn't thought about how to face his other son.
While he had no idea, Zayron did.
Without speaking a word, the boy rushed forward, hugged his father's waist, and bit it.
