Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 226

Chapter 226

Of course! She is his biological mother, so it isn't surprising for them to share the same blood type.

Although he wanted to voice his thoughts, he decided against it.

He decided he would find a suitable time to tell her about it after he had settled everything.

“How is it? Is he doing all right?”

Bailey nodded and sighed. “This child has been through so much. First, someone drugged him. Now...”

As though a lightbulb went off in her head, her voice suddenly trailed off, and she slowly looked up.

Gritting her teeth, she seethed, “I know it was no accident that the brakes failed. Rather, it was on

purpose. Someone wants to kill Max, but who can that be?”

Artemis did not reply. Instead, he gave her a knowing look.

Instantly, Bailey got the hint. “It seems like you need to get rid of Rhonda as soon as possible. She is

now pregnant with a child that the Luther family approves of. Therefore, Max has become her biggest

hurdle, and it is no surprise that she wants to get rid of him. What do you plan to do next about it?”

Artemis kept quiet for a second before he announced, “I'll ask Ken to spread the news that Max had a

car accident and is in serious condition.”

Frowning, Bailey tried to comprehend his plan. “Are you trying to give everyone the impression that

Max is on his deathbed and...”

“Yes. While we find a way to deal with Rhonda, we need to keep Max hidden away. She's crazy and

can do anything. Who knows? She probably has more vicious tricks up her sleeve, and I don't think

Max can take another blow from her,” Artemis explained.

“Okay, you do make sense. However, please don't make it sound like Max has already left us. Why not

tell others that he is in grave condition and in a coma? You could say there is little chance for him to

wake up. Meanwhile, we can keep Max in the medical base to recover. Our priority is still to remove

Rhonda as a threat.”

Artemis nodded. “Okay.”

Meanwhile, a loud voice sounded over a phone. “Idiot!”

Rhonda subconsciously squeezed her phone and snarled, “No matter how stupid I may be, I'll still be

better than a coward like you. Cadence, you told me you could destroy Maxton once and for all. So

much time has passed and yet have you done anything? It's ridiculous! How could you dream of doing

big things when you don't even dare to take risks? What a joke! It is no wonder why you can't beat

Bailey.”

Utter silence followed.

A few minutes passed, yet no one spoke. Finally, Cadence replied grimly, “Tell me—how confident are

you that he's dead?” C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

“The driver died on impact, and there was a wide gash on the boy's head. There is no way he could

survive that. I don't know what kind of news the Luther family received, but that old biddy kept crying.

Artemis must have contacted her to let her know that the boy died.”

There was a deep sigh on the other end of the line. “Well, it is what it is. There is no point in pushing

the blame. For now, you should stay in the Luther family. Cry if you have to and put up a good act.

While you do your part, I will take care of the rest. You only have to make sure not to give yourself

away.”

“I know.”

Shortly after, Rhonda came down the stairs to the living room and saw Felicity sobbing in Gerald's

arms.

After she descended from the last step, she weakly walked to the couch. In a shaky voice, she asked,

“Mrs. Luther, is Max doing okay? Is he feeling better now?”

Hearing her voice, Felicity pulled away from Gerald's embrace and quickly turned to Rhonda.

After she helped Rhonda to the couch, she choked out, “I thought I told you to stay in the room and not

to move around so much. Why didn't you listen to me? You are in your first trimester, and anything can

happen. What if something bad happens to you?”

Holding Felicity's wrists, Rhonda looked at the older woman with teary eyes. Her voice was hoarse

when she replied, “My child got into an accident. As a mother, how could I sit around and do nothing

about it? Mrs. Luther, please tell me how Max is doing.”

Seeing how emotional Rhonda seemed, Felicity panicked. She was afraid that her emotions might

affect her pregnancy negatively.

“It's fine. Max is doing okay. I'm sure Artemis will find a way to save him. Don't get agitated.”

Plop.

Tears started to flow down Rhonda's cheeks.

“You were crying so heartbreakingly. How could Max be fine? Mrs. Luther, I am not a child, so you don't

have to hide things from me. Please tell me the truth. Is Max already...”

Rhonda turned pale and looked like she was about to break down. As such, Felicity could not hide the

truth anymore.

She quickly responded, “Max isn't dead, but he isn't awake. Bailey told us that he is in a deep coma

and is basically in a vegetative state. Nonetheless, medicine is so advanced these days that I'm sure

Max will wake up.”

He is still alive. How could he have survived after all that? The driver died upon impact. Besides, his

head had a huge gash. Yet, he managed to pull through. Hahaha. What a joke! Why can't I seem to get

rid of him?

Fury surged through her veins, and she shook violently.

Unable to take the emotional turmoil, she fainted on the spot.

“Ronni!” Felicity screamed in horror.

She thought Rhonda passed out from sadness over Maxton. Little did she know that it was anger that

caused it.

In the evening, Maxton woke up.

Bailey was sitting by the bed, and as soon as she saw him open his eyes, she heaved a huge sigh of

relief.

There was a small part of her that was worried he would never wake up.

She only acted nonchalantly before Artemis so that he would not worry.

After all, the boy was in a grave condition. Given the blow to his head, there was a fifty percent chance

he would end up in a vegetative state.

Looking at Bailey, Maxton softly called out, “Mommy.”

In the past, Bailey would have rolled her eyes and softly knocked his head. At the same time, she

would scold him for disregarding his biological mother.

However, at that moment, she could not help but feel her heart soften.

“Don't worry. I am here.”

Maxton struggled to sit up.

At the sight of that, Bailey quickly stopped him with a frown. “You shouldn't move too much yet. Be a

good boy and stay in bed for the next two days. When your injuries have healed, you can move around

freely.”

Nevertheless, the boy did not seem willing to listen to her. He reached out for her sleeve and looked at

her with puppy eyes. “Hug me,” he whimpered.

How could she have the heart to reject his request when he looked at her with tears in his eyes?

Carefully, she helped him up and allowed him to lean on her. As she wrapped her arms around him,

she glanced at his face. He looked like he was in pain.

“Does your injuries hurt?”

“Yes, Mommy. Will you sing to me? Once I hear your singing, it will stop hurting.”

“Sure.” Bailey chuckled.

Her melodic voice filled every corner of the ward and sounded like it could dispel all the pain and

suffering in the world.

Meanwhile, Artemis leaned against the door and quietly witnessed the scene before him.

His son finally found his mother.

At the same time, Victoria received a message. It was from Lionel who asked her to go out at eight in

the evening to a place called Aurora Club.
