Chapter 214
Chapter 214
Artemis arched his brows and smirked.
“Of course, I will love him! I have to thank the baby in your belly as it makes me realize a lot of things.”
Rhonda was startled, and she had a bad feeling.
Just when she was about to ask further, Artemis spoke again, “I've been in touch with the person in
charge at the City Hall, and he'll bring the staff over to our residence tomorrow. Don't you want to
register our marriage? I get them to do it here.”
“Huh?” Rhonda looked at him in a daze. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Did I hear it right? Did he say that he's arranged for the people from City Hall to come here for our
marriage registration?
The unexpected happy event caught her off guard.
“A-Artemis, do you really want to register our marriage?”
Artemis put on a devilish smile again. “Do I look like I am kidding? Or do you not want to get
registered?”
“No.” Rhonda became anxious all of a sudden and wanted to get out of her bed.
A trace of sarcasm flashed through Artemis' eyes, and he said lightly, “You should just stay in bed. The
baby in your belly is so precious now, and I take it very seriously. You have to take good care of it.”
Rhonda dared not move anymore. She hurriedly laid back and said anxiously, “Tomorrow. We'll register
our marriage tomorrow, right?”
Artemis turned around and started walking toward the door. “Yes, that's right. It's tomorrow. You don't
have to doubt what I said as I always keep my word. Get some rest now, and we'll talk about it
tomorrow.”
Rhonda narrowed her eyes to look at his departing figure and fell into deep thought.
The surprise that came all of a sudden made her feel a little unreal. She was so flustered to the extent
that she felt something was not right.
Did he really just say that he wants to marry me? Am I dreaming now?
She leaned on the bedside and thought for a long while, but she was still clueless.
She reached for her phone on the bedside table and gave Beatrice a call.
She then told Beatrice about Artemis' decision.
“Mom, why do you think he suddenly changed his mind? Do you have any idea what he wants to do
actually?”
Beatrice smiled and comforted her, “Don't worry too much, Ronni. I guess it's Felicity who pressured
him to do so. Perhaps Artemis has no choice but to compromise because of his mother's pressure.”
“Huh? What did Mrs. Luther do to pressure Artemis?” Rhonda frowned and asked.
Beatrice said sarcastically, “Do you know who Gerald's ideal eldest daughter-in-law is?”
“Who?”
“The eldest daughter of the Shurmer family, Zoey.”
Rhonda was stunned for a moment. When she came back to her senses, she asked as she in a
confused tone, “Zoey is one of the Ten Acclaimed Socialites. I am not surprised that she's the ideal
daughter-in-law in Gerald's eye. But what does this have to do with that old woman?”
“Oh, let me tell you. Zoey's mother is Waverly, the first love of Gerald. This woman had given Felicity a
very hard time back then. So, Felicity will not compromise as long as this woman is in the picture. Do
you think it is possible for Felicity to agree to Waverly's daughter marrying Artemis?” explained Beatrice
patiently.
Rhonda finally understood the situation a little, and she tried to ask further, “I understand that Felicity
does not want Artemis to marry Zoey, so she forced Artemis to marry me. But what did Felicity do
actually to pressure Artemis?”
“Well, she's Artemis's mother! She has her own ways of dealing with him. You don't need to think so
much. You should be happy that Artemis is willing to marry you now! Your position in the Luther family
will be as solid as a rock as long as Felicity has your back!”
“Okay. I'll do as you say.”
Meanwhile, at the Saunders residence, Victoria was reading the financial report in the living room.
All of a sudden, a middle-aged man rushed in and shouted, “Ms. Victoria, Mr. Saunders, something bad
has happened!”
Victoria moved her gaze to the butler and frowned. “Why are you in such a hurry? What can happen at
such a late hour?”
The butler knelt on the ground in a thud and said anxiously, “Ms. Victoria, Mr. Victor... Mr. Victor was
taken away by the police.”
Victoria was stunned.
After regaining her senses, she lowered her body, clasped the butler's arm, and asked in a deep voice,
“What did he do again? Why was he arrested by the police?”
The butler took a few deep breaths to calm down his emotion. “The police said Mr. Victor is secretly
manipulating the stock market and is suspected of some commercial crimes. I don't really know the
details. Sean called me and told me that Mr. Victor is in trouble. But he didn't tell me in detail over the
phone.” The butler's voice started to break.
Victoria stood up from the couch and was about to walk outside.
“What a moment. Your brother is not that smart and knows very little about business. Do you believe
that he's capable of manipulating the stock market and committing commercial crimes?” asked Vincent
with a majestic voice while walking down the spiral staircase steadily.
Victoria's body started trembling violently, and her face gradually turned pale. “W-What do you mean?”
Vincent walked up to her and stared at her for a long moment. Without answering her question, he
asked further, “Is Lionel back in Hallsbay already? Have you met him?”
Victoria staggered a few steps backward and looked at him, startled. “This person has long since
disappeared from my world. Why are you still mentioning him now?”
“Why am I mentioning him? Don't you have a clue? I don't care if you want to take over Saunders
Group or even hand over Saunders Group to that kid from the Gezmond family. But Victor is your
brother. You can't hurt him.”
“I didn't do anything!” Victoria looked at Vincent with teary eyes and said furiously, “I did have any ill
intention when I came back here. I wanted to return everything I owed the Gezmond family to Lionel,
but I didn't plan to harm my own brother! I never once thought of putting you or Victor in danger.”
Vincent gazed at her with a look of pity, feeling a little sorry for her. “That means it was him. Let me
take care of this, and you don't have to worry about it. Just go back to your room and rest.”
Victoria looked at him stubbornly and said in a tough tone, “No. If he wants to take revenge, none of us
can escape. I'm no exception too. Dad, you rest first. I'll go to the prison to find out what's going on.”
With that, she stormed toward the main door.
Vincent tried to stop her, but she ignored him. She walked out of the living room and rushed into the
dark night.
At the study in Shelbert Condominium, Bailey was studying the DNA test report of Rhonda and Maxton.
She was secretly hoping that Maxton was her first child who was stolen by Rhonda to pretend to be
hers but she could not find any clues on the test report even after reading it a hundred times.
Rhonda does not have any blood relationship with Max, not even in the slightest. If Max is my eldest
son, why is he not related to Rhonda at all?
