Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 211

Chapter 211

Artemis was in the office when he received a call from the Luther residence, congratulating him on his

new baby.

After receiving the news, he froze on the spot.

Bailey's pregnant? Wait. No. Rhonda's pregnant?

Artemis was slightly taken aback by the sudden news of his new role.

Right then, the door to his office opened, and Bailey walked in. “The pharmaceutical factory gave me a

call just now. They said the drug has entered the fourth clinical trial. You can start preparing for the next

steps. Once the trial is successful, we can start mass-producing the drug and launching it.”

Artemis leaned against the table and stared fixedly at his phone, completely ignoring her.

Noting that, Bailey raised her brow and strode over to him, teasing, “Did you get drunk with some

woman last night? Was it so unforgettable that you can't snap out of it?”

In the next second, she regretted her actions.

The man in front of her caught her by the waist, turned around, and pressed her against the table.

“Haven't you learned your lesson? There's a lounge in here. Should I carry you in there, ravage you to

teach you a lesson?” he asked.

Bailey glared at him, not realizing the words that had left her lips earlier sounded reproachful. “Stop

messing around. The door is still open.”

Chuckling, Artemis leaned in and pecked her lips. “You're flirting with me, eh?”

Bailey turned her face away and hissed, “Looks like my skills have risen to another level. Who would've

known I would be able to flirt with a dog?”

What the hell? How could this woman be so savage?

“Please get up. Keep your hands to yourself. We can talk this out.”

Artemis raised his brow and ignored her words as he continued touching her body.

Bailey, on the other hand, had experienced enough to know that she would make him more aroused by

resisting. Hence, she stopped moving and stared at the beautiful decorations on the ceiling.

“Rhonda is pregnant,” Artemis said with a smile.

Bailey froze for a moment. She then narrowed her eyes as she stared at him, frowning. “Didn't you take

any precaution that night?”

Artemis smirked. “I gave her some pills, but she still got pregnant.”

“Hm... Could the drug have failed?”

“I don't think so. It's a birth control pill formulated by Luther Group's best medical team. How could they

make such a low mistake? Take another guess.”

Bailey pondered for a moment before guessing, “Hm... There could be two possibilities. First, the fact

that Rhonda took such a huge risk during Caridee's birthday party to have sex with you means that

she's trying to get pregnant with your child. Two, she was already pregnant at that point, and she just

wanted you to bed her so that she can use that excuse to make that unborn child of hers yours.”

Artemis pinched her cheek and smiled. “You always manage to find the right answer. You're right. I had

pretty much the same guesses as yours.”

Bailey blinked and raised her brow. “So, what do you plan to do? Perhaps, you should just accept the

situation and adopt that child of hers on behalf of another man?”

Artemis stared fixedly at her, saying with a deep voice. “Bailey... I think Max isn't...”

He faltered and fell silent.

Though he never wanted to look into the matter, he had little a choice at that moment.

After all, Rhonda was a cunning woman who was capable of doing anything.

That included stealing Maxton from someone else, appearing at his doorsteps, and claiming someone

else's role.

However, Bailey misunderstood his words, thinking he was suspecting Maxton was not a descendant of

the Luther family.

“That can't be. Wasn't Justin the one who handled your paternity test with Max? Rhonda is not capable

of bribing Justin to falsify the results. Don't you think you're going a little too far by suspecting Max isn't

your biological child?”

Artemis glared at her and hissed, “Tsk. What are you thinking? I'm saying I suspect Max isn't Rhonda's

child. I think she stole him from his biological mother.”

Bailey's expression turned grim, and she said in a serious tone, “Same here. During my recent

interaction with Rhonda, I can confirm that she's trying to kill Max. But why? Why is she trying to kill her

own child though? Hence, I can't think of another reason apart from Max not being her biological child.”

Artemis nodded. Suddenly, his tone of voice turned frosty as he hissed, “That kid has been insisting

that Rhonda isn't his mother, and I keep thinking he doesn't acknowledge her as his mother because of

her materialistic nature. Now that I think about it, there's definitely something suspicious about it. Can

you find a way to get Rhonda's blood? I want a paternity test done between her and Max.”

Bailey said flatly, “You don't necessarily need a blood sample. A strand of hair will do. Even body fluids

can do the trick. I'm pretty sure you won't collect her body fluids, right? Go for her hair, then. It should

be fairly simple since she lives in the Luther residence.”

“Okay. I'll get the housekeeper to get Rhonda's hair while cleaning the house. Perhaps the

housekeeper might find some on the bed or the carpet.”

Bailey raised an arm and pushed his chest. “That's settled then. Can you get up now? This position is

quite tiring.”

Artemis side-eyed her and said with a smirk, “Do you want to go into the lounge? It's a more suitable

place.”

“Ahem.”

A cough sounded at the door. Dwayne had an awkward expression as he stood frozen to the ground,

not sure whether he should enter the office or leave.

“Are you two planning to carry on? Should I come back later? Is one hour enough?” he asked.

What the hell? What nonsense is he spouting?

Bailey shoved Artemis away, flipped around, and stood up. She straightened her clothes and glared at

Dwayne. “Don't you know you should knock before entering? Have your basic manners gone out of the

window?”

Dwayne rolled his eyes and said exasperatedly, “I say, Ms. Bailey, did you remember closing the door

after entering?”

Uh...

Artemis grabbed Bailey and placed her behind him protectively. Frowning at Dwayne, the former

questioned coldly, “Why did you come in for? Is the CEO's office a place you can enter whenever you

want?”

What the heck?

Dwayne's eyes widened as if he had heard the most shocking thing on earth.

The CEO's office is the place I visit over a hundred times on a daily basis. Am I not supposed to enter

this place now that there's a woman he fancies? Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Okay. Fine. From today onwards, I won't step foot in this place unless you call for me.”

“Hey, spit it out. Get lost if you have nothing to say.”

Dwayne took a deep breath and suppressed his temper.

Grinning, he said, “Congratulations on becoming a father, Mr. Luther. Mrs. Luther has just phoned the

public relations department to have them arrange a press conference. She'll be announcing Ms.

Rhonda's pregnancy and your marriage with Ms. Rhonda.”

Artemis turned to look at Bailey. When he saw the half-smile on her lips, understanding dawned on

him.

“Do what Mrs. Luther has ordered. Let her have the press conference and announce Ms. Rhonda's

pregnancy,” he said.

Dwayne's smile froze.

Wait. This is different from what I expected.
