Chapter 40 Eating Others’ Leftovers
The next day.
Amanda received a call from Halley.
“You didn’t forget about the discussion today, did you?”
“Didn’t you give the project to Olinka?”
On the other end of the line, Halley gritted his teeth and said, “Are you pretending not to know, or do you really not know? The Byran Group’s Supplementary Agreement to the Project is clear. You’re only responsible for the Byran Group project, and they won’t accept anyone else.”
“Oh? Then why don’t you change your project?”
“What’s the point of saying that now? Don’t forget that you’re also a shareholder of the Sean Group. Is there any benefit for you to bring down the Sean Group?”
Although Halley’s tone was harsh, he could not pretend to be anxious.
Amanda knew him too well. He wouldn’t have called her at this time unless he had no other choice.
It must be that his partner had put pressure on him.
Amanda said, “I can participate in the project, but I have a condition.”
“Go ahead.”
“The meeting should lack someone to do tea service, right? I think Olinka is good for it.”
“You!”
Amanda did not give him a chance to speak. “I’ll give you three seconds to think about it. You only need to say yes or no, three, two…”
“Okay!”
An urgent voice came from the other end of the line.
Amanda raised an eyebrow. “See you at the company in 20 minutes.”
After hanging up the phone, Amanda looked at herself in the mirror. She seemed to have regained her confidence and audacity of the past.
In this world, only work is worth the effort.
In the Sean Group.
In addition to the Sean Group and the Byran Group, Mr. Harper was also involved in this negotiation. It was said that Mr. Harper had connections with Iverson and was the third investor of the project with Iverson’s relationships and resources.
If Mr. Harper was interested in this project, the budget would be doubled.
In the meeting room, Olinka was pouring water for everyone with a kettle in her hand.
“Mr. Harper, have some tea.”
When pouring the tea, Olinka bent so low to hit on him.
However, Mr. Harper did not even look at her, thinking she was just a logistics girl.
Amanda thought, “Sure enough, ‘Birds of a feather flock together.’ Mr. Harper, whom Iverson introduced, is honest and upright. Olinka’s behaviors are useless to him.”
Olinka was humiliated by Mr. Harper, and her face kept changing colors. Gritting her teeth, she poured Amanda a cup of tea and said in a low voice, “It’s just a project. Do you think you can control Halley?”
Amanda glanced at her. “I don’t have anything to be proud of, but there are some people whose eyes will turn red even when I’m proud for a while. She is quite pitiful.”
“You!”
Olinka gritted her teeth, a cold light flashing in her eyes, and the kettle in her hand suddenly slipped. “Ah-”
“Be careful!”
Before Amanda could react, she was pulled aside by a giant hand and staggered into someone’s arms.
There was a loud bang behind her, and the kettle exploded on the ground. Boiling water splashed everywhere, and screams came from the surroundings.
Olinka said anxiously, “I didn’t do it on purpose. Are you all right, Miss Jewell?”
“All right?” Iverson shot Olinka a cold glance and questioned her. “What did you do?”
Only then did Amanda come back to her senses, but she still felt a lingering fear in her heart.
If Olinka had poured the water on her, her skin would have been burned off.
Mr. Harper, who was on the side, frowned in displeasure. “You are too careless. What if you burn someone? How could you be so careless?”
Halley rushed over and immediately rebuked her. “How could you do such a thing? Hurry up and get someone to clean up the mess.”
Olinka’s eyes dimmed, and she left immediately.
Halley smiled apologetically at Mr. Harper and said, “Mr. Harper, I’m sorry. She’s new here and ignorant. I’ll teach her a lesson later.”
Amanda saw all of this with her own eyes.
These words were equal to bullshit. Everyone could see that Halley was using this opportunity to protect Olinka and chase her away on the surface. In truth, he couldn’t bear to let her serve tea and water here.
His actions were genuinely despicable.
Amanda was lost in thought when she heard Iverson’s voice above his head. “You’re not burning, are you?”
Amanda returned to her senses and said, “It’s all right. Thank you.”
Mr. Harper also comforted her, “Fortunately, she’s fine. She can’t even do a small thing like pouring a glass of water. She would have been fired long ago if she were in my company.”
Iverson said flatly, “I’m just afraid Mr. Sean won’t bear to part with her.”
An embarrassed expression appeared on Halley’s face. “Mr. Byran, you really know how to joke. What’s there to be reluctant about?”
Amanda couldn’t be bothered to look at Halley’s disgusting look anymore. She glanced at the conference room from the corner of her eye and said, “Let’s talk. I’m going to the bathroom.”
The water in the bathroom flowed.
Amanda applied some lipstick in front of the mirror.
The sound of high heels clicking came from behind her. Olinka’s smug face was reflected in the mirror. “Why should I be jealous and keep a man working hard? Look, Halley is still protecting me. I can be proud forever. You’re the one who should be jealous.”
Amanda snorted as if she had heard a joke.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
She put the lipstick cap on and turned around, looking Olinka up and down. “Why should I be jealous of you when you’re eating the leftovers and using someone else’s man?”
“Whatever you say. By the way, you don’t know when I got together with Halley, do you?”
Amanda clenched her fists.
