Chapter 17

Hose’s POV

loudly, pushing the heavy bed sheets off of my body in an attempt to cool my fiery skin.

Have I gotten unwell through the night? I must have the fu?

I blink back the blurriness, cringing at the brightness of the room next, before I roll over and gasp loudly–seeing the Alphas sleeping face only inches from my own!

With my ignorant gasp, it causes for the Alphas own eyes to peel apart, as he grumbles and wraps an arm around me – slamming me in closer to hit chest in a tight embrace.

Moments pass, and so does the growing sweat and aches in my body, as I can’t take it anymore, before I whimper loudly causing him to release me in an instant – sitting upright.

“Did I hurt you?!” He panics slightly next, as I blink up at him and groan loudly again feeling another stab of muscle ache.

“N–No… I’m just so… hot… and sore… I don’t feel well, sir! Could I have s–some water?” I cry out, grumbling as I attempt to roll over onto my back, feeling as though each of my muscles were being pushed through a meat grinder.

This felt like hell… I’ve never experienced anything like this

“Yeah they did say this might happen sooner rather than later…” The Alpha moves off from the bed in thought, going towards a drawer which reveals a small mini fridge that I hadn’t known was in there until now.

He grabs a bottle of water, before coming back to me with it, as he uses his hand to help pull me up to a sitting position as I whine loudly in pain.

“What is happening to me?!” I pout out, feeling awful, before he hands me the water which I drink back greedily.

“It’s the mark… you’ll be getting used to the forced bond…..you’ll go into heat soon too. It happens this way because we aren’t real mates, so everything tends to happen faster. This stage is what happens right before you go into heat.” He explains gently, watching me carefully for a reaction as 1 eye him

Going into heat?

“O–Oh… doesn’t that m–mean?” I grow increasingly nervous, my blood pressure rising again at the thought of what was still yet to come in order to complete this bond…

“Yes. We will have to complete the mating process in order for it to stop.” He takes his time to explain, as I drink back some more cold water finding it to help the pain ever so slightly.

“S–So… by doing that we will have to uhh…” I trail off awkwardly, growing heatedly embarassed as he smiles lazily at me.

“Have sex, yes. But I take care of you, don’t worry too much about it. When you’re ready, and the heat gets unbearable, just remember that I can take it all away – with your permission, of course.” The Alpha concludes, as my cheeks no doubt turn the colour of tomato’s after that.

I didn’t think that far ahead before letting him mark me… it all happened so fast… technically speaking, this man, this Alpha, was now officially going to be my life long mate,

Woah…

“Alpha?” I question, watching his eyes narrow into a slight glare as he listens to me.

“You should probably stop calling me that now, my wolf doesn’t like it. Also, speaking of him, he likes you by the way. He said he doesnt mind waiting

to meet your wolf either, he understands that it will take some time.” The Alpha speaks out, as my eyes widen at the sudden information

His wolf likes me… and wants to meet my wolf too… but doesn’t mind waiting… what a sweetheart!

“issir maybe better to address you as them? It doesn’t feel right not addressing you with a title at all.” I admit, as he shakes his head with a wh

ou will call me Ashton.” He deadpans, as I blink up at him, shock coursing through me.

I can’t just call him by his first name! People around us might think that I am being disrespectful to their Alphat

But his wall will no doubt lose his shit too and I know what their tempers can be like, so I have to respect his request–now that I bare his mark.

“Ok well… Ashton?” I test his name, as he smirks and closes his eyes briefly, seeming satisfied with my compliance,

“Yes, Rose?” He responds, as I hold up the empty bottle of water now.

“Could I have some more water please? Maybe some pain killers if you have anything? I feel so… weak and sore!” I grumble with a sigh, as he smiles. brushing a loose strand of hair back from my face before he stands and fetches me a second bottle.

If this was only the damn lead up to the real heat… I don’t know how I’ll survive it!

Ashton hands me the second bottle of water, and I gulp it down, feeling a bit of relief from the cool liquid. He then moves towards another drawer, taking out a small bottle of painkillers, which he hands over to me.

“Take these, it should help. And don’t worry, Rose, I’ll take care of you during your heat. I won’t let anything happen to you,” He assures me, his voice laced with concern.

I pop the painkillers and wash them down with the water, thankful for the Alphas attentiveness. “Thank you, Alph… I mean Ashton. I really appreciate all of this.” I say softly, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence.

The Alpha sits beside me on the bed, his eyes never leaving me as if he’s trying to gauge how I’m feeling. Take it easy for now. Your body will need time to adjust to the mark and the upcoming changes. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask me for it. I’ll go downstairs and grab you some breakfast you have to eat.”

I nod, grateful for his understanding and kindness as he stands from his position on the bed. “Th–Thank you. I’ll do my best to get through this.” I reply, trying to find a comfortable spot on the bed with a slight poin

As he watches me, concern etched acmss his features, I can’t help but feel a warmth growing inside me. His sudden care and protection makes me feel safe, even amidst the uncertainty of our new future…

Perhaps it was the bond beginning to strengthen and take its toll, but I did seriously feel a great appreciation for this man… he has changed my life for the better ever since I stumbled into his pack.

Alpha Ashton seems to sense my thoughts and leans in, stroking the back of his strong hand gently down the side of my cheek showing his adoration for my commitment to our deal.

“Stay here and rest. Ill be back in ten minutes or so with something to eat for you.” He whispers, the soothing touch of his fingers sending bolts of electricity down my spine.

I close my eyes, letting the painkillers take effect and the exhaustion wash over me… if this was only the mini heat… then I’ll seriously struggle to get past the full one!

Alpha Ashtons soothing words echo in my mind as I breathe in and out steadily, distracting myself from the aches and pains.

The mark on my neck, was now a symbol of our connection, linking me to this powerful and enigmatic man. Although, I still couldn’t wrap my head around why he had chosen me…

It was an honour, to even be spoken to by an Alpha, let alone be taken into his pack and marked by him after being asked to become his mate… especially since I wasn’t naturally destined to be with him either.

This was my second chance….

With that, I whisper a quick thank you prayer out to the Moon Goddess, knowing that she must have played a hand in how things had worked out for

1. me.

Maybe she knew all along that my true mate would have made rue miserable if he had decided to stick by me- which is why I winded up in the arms of

probably the only young, handsome Alpha who had tragically lost his mate too.

Alpha Ashton keeps his promise, returning shortly with a tray full of breakfast treats.

He places the tray on the bedside table and smiles at me warmly. “I brought you some fresh fruits, toast, and scrambled eggs. You need to eat and keep your strength up.” He says with concern in his eyes.

“Thank you. You’re really going above and beyond to take care of me here, I reply, touched by his thoughtfulness.

*You’re my responsibility now, Rose. I will do whatever it takes to make sure you’re safe and well,” he replies, his voice firm but gentle.

I nod and start eating, feeling grateful for the delicious breakfast. The painkillers are starting to work, and I feel a bit better after eating something now

too…

Ashton sits beside me, keeping an eye on me as 1 eat, whilst he sips away at his black coffee..

Once I finish, I set the empty plate aside and look up at the Alpha again….

He reaches out, gently taking my hand in his, his touch sending a warm sensation through my body a feeling I had only ever felt once before with my other mate – before it was quickly stripped from me.

I had found myself a mate… one who actually asked me to be his….
