Gordon paused in the act of cutting up the medicinal herbs. Then, he explained. “My mother has moved back home from the hospital. They can’t.
find a new kidney donor, and waiting there is just going to burn through money, so the doctor suggested that we opt for conservative treatment.”
Was that what he had been so busy with lately?
No
wonder he always looked so gloomy whenever Mayra met him on the road.
Mayra said, “Don’t worry. Mrs. Thorp is a lucky woman. She might get better
very soon.
Gordon did not continue on the subject. He turned around and wrapped up the
herbs.
Only then did Mayra realize that she had said something wrong.
Gordon’s mother had gotten a kidney transplant in the end, and she survived. She would probably be fine, right?
Mayra knew that this would happen, but she couldn’t say so. She couldn’t. intervene either. What if… things changed? Even though she had been reborn
Gordon was making medicine for her, so Mayra just followed him wherever he
went.
Gordon suddenly turned around while holding the bowl of medicine, and he almost bumped into her. “There’s no television at my house. You can go to m
Mayra shook her head. “It’s the weekend, and we finally don’t have to study. I don’t want to read.”
“Be careful not to bump into me.
“Okay.”
Time went by slowly, and by the time they were almost done with the

photoshoot, Isabel was tired. However, she felt that the fatigue was worth it, and she was happy.
The makeup assistant brought her phone over. “Ms. Fisher, you have a call.”
Isabel sat in front of the dressing table, getting ready to change. She picked up the call. “Yes, Mom. The shoot is almost done.”
“Will you be back for dinner?”
“I’ll have to ask Andy. He’ll probably come. He doesn’t have any other plans after the shoot ends.”
After exchanging a few words, Isabel sat up at the dressing table and walked outside to the hall where they would wait for the shooting to begin. She saw
Isabel walked up to him. “What’s wrong, Andy? What happened?”
She continued, “Mom called just now and asked us to go home for dinner. If you’re worried about Mayra, she can come with us. It’ll be a good chance fo
Shane spoke up, “Ms. Sadler hasn’t returned after going out. Now we can’t get through to her phone either.”
Isabel said, “Oh! Err… is she throwing a tantrum?”
She lowered her head as if she was the one at fault. “It’s all my fault. I forgot that Mayra has… special feelings for you!
Special feelings?
They all knew what Isabel was referring to.
Mayra liked Anderson. It wasn’t an affectionate, sibling–like kind of love but a
romantic kind of love…
The last time Mayra had cut her wrists and attempted suicide, it had been because of Anderson’s engagement to Isabel.
Isabel knew how much Anderson cared about the younger sister whom he had practically raised.
“I shouldn’t have told her that we were taking our engagement photos together. Otherwise… she wouldn’t have gotten triggered and left.”

“Why don’t we pause the shoot, Andy? Getting Mayra back is the most important thing. I mean, what if something happens to her?”
There was a cold flash in Anderson’s deep eyes. “She has to accept this sooner or later. It has nothing to do with you. We’ll continue with the shoot.”
Shane said, “I’ll go and look for Ms. Mayra.”
“Nobody is allowed to go and look for her. If anything happens, she can bear the consequences herself,” Anderson said sternly. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
