Chapter 32
Nolan’s POV
The night was cloaked in an eerie silence as I moved swiftly through the forest, my senses heightened, and my determination steely.
I had made a decision, one that went against the promises I had made to my mother and brother. Nesta would not be found. The mere thought of her, a Healer in our mids, filled me with a seething rage
She was a threat, an unwanted presence that I would not tolerate. Why would they allow her in our circle! When they know that her people killed our father.
The first group of hunters was easy to track. They moved with the arrogance of those who believed they were on a
on a righteous mission.
They hadn’t expected an attack from within their own pack. I watched them from the shadows, my breath steady, my mind cold and calculating
When I struck, it was with lethal precision. They didn’t have a chance to scream before my claws silenced them forever. I am the hunter everyone
fear for a reason.
One by one, I hunted them down, each group falling to my relentless pursuit. The search parties were scattered, but none were prepared for an enemy like me..
I moved like a shadow, swift and merciless, Each kill brought me closer to my goal: ensuring that Nesta would never be found. That is a promise. She should rot in hell
I approached the last group as they made camp, the fire casting flickering shadows on their faces. They spoke in hushed tones about the hunt, about finding the Healer.
My fury burned brighter than the flames. I waited until they were drowsy, their guard down. Then, I struck with a ferocity that left no room for mercy. Blood stained the forest door, the metallic scent mingling with the smoke from their dying dre.
When the last body fell, I stood amidst the carnage, my breath coming in ragged gasps
The night was silent once more, save for the pounding of my heart. I had done what needed to be done. Nesta would remain hidden, far from our pack and far from me.
I made my way back to the royal house, the enormity of my actions weighed on me.
I had betrayed my mother and brother, but the thought of Nesta, with her healing powers and the pain she had caused, juuified my actions. She was a reminder of everything I wanted to forget, a past I refused to relive
In the darkness of the night, I vowed to myself that if she ever dared to show her face again, I would find her. And when I did, I would finish what 1 had started. She should not let me find her, or I would kill her myself.
The hunt was over, but my resolve remained unbroken. Nesta would stay away, or she would face the consequences of crossing my path
The cold night air chilled my skin, but the fire of my hatred burned hot within me. She would never be a part of my world again.
The tension in the air was palpable as I made my way to Rowan’s chamber. I could sense his agitation before I even entered the room
I pushed the heavy door open, I found him pacing back and forth, his face a mask of frustration and confusion. He stopped abruptly when he saw me, his eyes narrowing with concern.
“Something weird is happening with the search parties we sent out,” Rowan began his voice laced with anger. They’re disappearing. No trace, no sign of struzzle, nothing. It’s like they’ve just vanished into thin air”
I feigned surprise, keeping my expression neutral “Vanished? That’s impossible. Our hunters are skilled, they wouldn’t just disappear without a fight”
Rowan nodded, his frustration evident. “Exactly. That’s what’s so strange about it. We’ve sent out multiple groups, and none have returned. Mother is worried, and the elders are starting to panic. They think something–someone–is targeting them
“Who would do that! Rogues? Another pack?” I met his gaze steadily, my heart pounding in my chest.
He shook his head, running a hand through his hair. “We don’t know. But this isn’t normal rogue behavior. It feels calculated, like someone is deliberately sabotaging our efforts.”
“Have you found any clues?” I asked, trying to steer the conversation away from any potential suspicion that might fall on me,
Rowan sighed, his shoulders slumping. “Nothing concrete. Just_silence. It’s eerie. We’ve never dealt with anything like this before. And with Nesta still out there, it’s more important than ever that we find her.
I forced myself to nod in agreement, even though every fiber of my being screamed in defiance. “We’ll figure it out, Rowan. We have to. Maybe we need to change our approach, think of a different strategy,”Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
He looked at me with a mix of hope and desperation. “Do you have any ideas! Because right now, we’re grasping at straws”
Thesitated, knowing I had to be careful with my words. “Perhaps we should focus on protecting the pack for now. Strengthen our defenses, keep everyone on high alen. If someone is targeting our search parties, they might try to come for us next.”
Rowan nodded slowly, considering my suggestion. “You’re right. We can’t afford to lose more people. I’ll talk to the elders, see what we can do to bolster our security.”
As he turned to leave, I felt a pang of guilt. He trusted me, relied on me, and here I was, the cause of his worry. But I couldn’t let Nesta return, couldn’t let her disrupt the fragile balance I had fought so hard to maintain.
Rowan paused at the door, looking back at me. “Thank you for listening. I know things have been tense lately, but we’ll get through this. Together
I nodded, forcing a ta smile. “Of course, Rowan. We’ll figure it out.”
As he left the room, I clenched my fists, steeling myself for what lay ahead. I had to ensure my actions remained hidden, that no one discovered the truth.
For now, I had bought myself some time. But I knew this was far from over. The hunt for Nesta was still on, and I had to stay one step ahead, no matter the cost.
