Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 197: Damned Kid

Giselle's POV

I watched with rapt attention as my three year old son, Ryker, sat cross-legged on the plush rug, his small hands meticulously arranging and rearranging the brightly colored blocks before him.

My trusted assistant, Rhya, stood at the far corner, carefully watching Ryker to be there in the moment that he needed help.

I sighed as I rested my chin on my palm. "It's a rare moment of peace, isn't it?" I whispered, my gaze not leaving Ryker's enraptured form.

Ryker looked like a sweet little boy as he played with his toy blocks with laser-focused movements. Everyone who would stare at him right now would never imagine that he is actually a spawn of the devil.

Ryker has been diagnosed with autism since birth. Small things could easily set him off, and it's hard to calm him down when he holds tantrums.

I and my two attendants aren't enough to subdue him when he bursts into a fit. There were times when I just wanted to tear my ears off because of his loud and violent yelling.

He yells so loud that I'm sure even the people outside the Packhouse could hear him. However, he doesn't communicate with us. Ever since Ryker was born, I've never heard him utter a word.

I thought he was mute or deaf, but how could that be when he could wail and yell so loud every time that he gets upset?

Because of Ryker's inability to speak, it is so hard to get through to him. Sometimes, I think he just doesn't want to talk to me because he knows that I'm not his mother. However, that's impossible. How could he know the truth? He was just a small baby when he got switched.

"Ryker is well-behaved today. I'm glad that it pleases you, Luna," Rhya replied with a solemn nod after she heard my question.

"Of course, as long as it's peace and quiet, there's nothing more that I ask," I answered with great relief.

Having peace and quiet in my room has become so rare because of Ryker. As his mother, it is my job to take care of him, which is why I had no choice but to keep him here.

Killian might suspect something wrong if I don't show love to his son. I can't afford him to have any suspicions for me anymore.

Besides, having Ryker close to me means more opportunities to see Killian throughout the day. Killian is so devoted to his son. Whenever he is free, he always chooses to spend his time with his son. "Luna! Luna!" An Omega came rushing in with a panicked look on her face.

Startled by the omega who rushed in, Ryker's blocks tumbled to the floor, and he erupted into a distressed wail.

As soon as his ear-piercing screams hurt my ears, I stood up and pointed an angry finger at the omega who shattered the peace. “Look at what you've done!" My anger was palpable ast yelled at her angrily.

Rhya, who is in charge of babysitting Ryker, rushed towards him without hesitation. She gathered Ryker into her arms, rocking him gently as she murmured soothing words.

However, it wasn't enough to pacify

Ryker. It always took a painstaking effort to calm that child down, and always have no patience for it, so always leave the child-rearing to my attendants except when Killian is around.

"Please forgive me, Luna, but this is an emergency. I rushed in here as soon as I heard the news." The omega knelt before me as she asked for forgiveness. "What is it?!" I snapped at her. With a steadying breath, I pushed aside my anger.

"It's an invitation letter from the Shadowfang Pack," the omega spoke as she chased her breath. "The Shadowfang Pack is holding เล grand event I heard and they have invited all the other leaders of the Pack as well. I heard that Alpha Killian agreed to come. Have he said anything."

Hearing her words, fury was ignited within me. "When was this? How come I haven't heard anything?" I snapped as I composed myself together.

Indeed, this is an important news! How come Killian had never told me anything about it? Didn't he promise me that he would try to forget Astrid and do his best to be a good husband to me? Why would he hide this thing from me?

"I heard it was-"

"Can't you shut that damn kid's mouth!" I yelled at Rhya angrily, who was carrying Ryker in her arms.

I was talking with someone about something important, and I could barely hear anything except for that damn kid's voice.

Ryker was so surprised when I yelled that he momentarily stopped yelling. However, after he recovered, his cries turned louder than the last time.

"I'm sorry, Luna. I'll try to keep him busy outside," Rhya answered with her head lowered without stopping from rocking Ryker back and forth. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

"Just make sure that Killian wouldn't see you. What would he think if he saw you taking care of Ryker instead of me?" I warned her.

"Yes, Luna," Rhya answered before leaving the room with Ryker in her arms. Ryker's voice slowly disappeared as they got farther from us. That damn kid always knew how to ruin everything. He always knows when to make a scene and make things difficult for me.
