Chapter 323
Chapter 323
Bonnie was actually super sensitive. She could sense even the tiniest bit of attention that Neil gave me.
I pretended that I didn’t hear anything and just closed my eyes so I could relax.
Since I ignored her and she got no response from Neil, Bonnie couldn’t vent her anger. She just withdrew her gaze in frustration and deliberately flopped down heavily, making a loud noise
This childish tantrum obviously didn’t catch Neil’s attention. The car was silent all the way, no one uttered a word.
By the time we got back to Rosemont, it was late at night. Neil dropped me off at Sapphire River Community first, then took Bonnie home.
“Ms. Finch, you’re back!” Hannah Morse was waiting for us. She rushed over to help me. “Did you get hurt anywhere? Is it bad?”
I chuckled. “I’m good, I just have a scratch on my back. Don’t worry about it. Your parents should be here soon. Go arrange a room for them to rest, okay?”
Hannah looked at the front gate. I knew she was dying to see her parents, but Bailey drove slower than Neil, so we had to wait a bit longer
“Alright, Ms. Finch, I truly appreciate all you’ve done for us!” Hannah said gratefully as tears welled up in her eyes.
I felt a bit guilty. Truth be told, if I hadn’t deliberately approached Oscar after my rebirth, his life would probably be the same as it was during my past life. He would be living a peaceful life somewhere out of my sight.
After Hannah went to prepare the room, I waited alone at the door for a while since Faith was still in the car. I needed to take care of her feelings. My mom was already asleep, so I wasn’t worried about her saying anything to my mom.
About half an hour later, the car stopped outside the gate. I went out and saw Hannah’s parents and Faith getting out of the car. Everyone seemed a bit tired, road trips could be exhausting.
“Irene, where is Neil?” The first thing Faith did after getting out of the car was ask about Neil.
“He probably went to drop Bonnie off. Would you like Bailey to take you home first, or do you need some rest?” I asked politely.
Upon hearing that Neil had taken Bonnie home, Faith immediately showed her displeasure.
She glanced at my front door and hesitated for a moment, “Let Bailey take me home. I will come to visit your mother when she feels -better.”
Faith actually relieved me. Perhaps she was also worried about making me uncomfortable, as I had previously politely declined her
offer.
I didn’t insist. “Bailey, could you please take Faith home? After that you can go home and rest. You don’t need to come to work for the next couple of days.”
Bailey nodded, not saying much.
Faith got back in the car.
I looked at Hannah’s parents in the yard and said warmly, “Hannah is inside. Let’s go in. You can stay here for the next few days, and I’ll arrange a suitable place for you later.”
“Ms. Finch, you’ve done so much for us. Especially considering what happened at our house…” Henry Morse seemed quite embarrassed.
“Oscar and I were good friends. Now that he’s gone, I’ll take care of you guys for him.” I interrupted Henry because the more he said, the more upset I felt
I look Hannah’s parents into the house. Hannah was already in the living room. She was so happy to see her parents that tears rolled down her cheeks. After being abused by her husband and finally escaping, her biggest worry was her parents. Now, at least, she had no worries behind her.
While they had their family reunion, I slipped away to rest in my room. I guessed I wouldn’t be able to sleep well for a while. I had to sleep on my side or face down, and someone needed to help me with my medication.
I needed to figure out a way to find evidence of Bonnie and Hannah’s husband setting the fire. That way, Bonnie could go to jail and reflect on her deeds.
I didn’t sleep well that night. Sleeping face down was really tiring, so I woke up early.
To my surprise, Neil was already here, having breakfast in the dining room. Sitting next to him were Hannah’s parents, who seemed a bit nervous. After all, Neil’s cold face usually seemed very aloof.
Luckily, my mom was resting upstairs. If she came down and saw Neil, she might lose control of her emotions.
“Ms. Finch, breakfast is ready. Mr. Whitmore arrived, so I let him eat first. You should eat too.” Hannah spoke with a smile on her face,
she was in a good mood.
Hannah’s parents nodded at me. I smiled, “Okay, you let your parents eat first, don’t wait for me.”
Hannah immediately shook her head. “No can do, Ms. Finch. I’m working here now, and you bringing my parents over is already a big help. We can’t make any more demands.”
The Morse family was truly kind. No wonder they raised a boy as outstanding as Oscar. I really didn’t understand how he ended up with a girlfriend like Bonnie.
Neil just listened to us talk without saying anything. I felt like he was in a bad mood.
But with so many people around, it wasn’t appropriate for me to ask. I just sat next to him and had my breakfast.
Luckily, Hannah’s family was very considerate. After eating a bit, they left right away, leaving a private space for Neil and me.
“I checked Bonnie’s call records and will send them to you later. Take a look.” Neil started speaking first, which surprised me.
“You found it so fast?” I asked in astonishment. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Well, as long as it’s not about Ethan Foster, things are pretty straightforward. Neil raised an eyebrow. “Hannah’s husband is easy to handle; I’ll get him detained by the police. But you have to cooperate with FarHorizon Group as soon as possible. Even though Ethan Foster is trying to set you up, you can only find useful information by stepping into his trap. Once he falls, StarGlow Enterprises will fall too, and Gloria’s current husband won’t be able to protect her either”
It was clear Neil was running out of patience; this was indeed a tough ask for him. But he still did
“Got it.” I responded.
lot for me.
“I need to take off. I might meet Ethan Foster in the next few days. He has a crucial document, and if we can get that document, all our problems will be solved.” Neil stood up to leave, and I could feel his coldness towards me, which felt a bit odd.
As he left, I followed suit.
We both walked all the way to the neighboring villa, and only then did Neil stop. “Aren’t you worried your mom might see us?”
“Are you in a bad mood?” I asked directly.
At this critical juncture, I didn’t want any misunderstandings with Nell. Once the issue was resolved, I might choose to leave or bel caught in indecision.
It seemed like Neil was waiting for me to ask this question. He scoffed, ‘Irene, last night I took another woman home. Are you really not worried about me at all?
