Chapter 222
Chapter 222
“Can you
shut up? You’re so annoying!” Neil said, turning his head coldly.
Kitty shrugged. “I don’t bother other people. I only bother you.”
Giving her Neil’s phone number was the right decision. She knew how to win Neil’s heart better than Bonnie did
Ignoring their bickering. I dragged my tired body into the living room, closed the door, and lay down on the sofa to rest.
My phone rang. I saw it was Neil and I declined right away
I fell asleep on the sofa. When I woke up, it was already past seven in the morning. I had a quick breakfast and went to work.
I had a business trip in a few days to discuss a partnership with a counter supplier. So I had to sort out things in the office and completely eliminate the dangers around my mom.
As I drove past Neil’s house, I saw Kitty coming out. She was wearing a black denim jacket and bell- bottom jeans, lazily stretching and revealing her slim
waist
Had she stayed overnight with Neil? Impressive.
I ignored certain emotions in my heart and drove away.
“Ms. Finch, the surveillance video has been retrieved. When can you come to the hospital to watch it?” I received a call from the hospital just as I got to
the office
“I’ll be there at noon!” I replied.
At noon, I skipped lunch and went straight to the hospital. I quickly saw the surveillance video from that right.
A slightly overweight man, wearing a baseball cap and a mask, quickly entered my mom’s ward. Less than two minutes later, he left in a hurry.
I was almost sure he was the attacker, but his face could not be seen in the surveillance, only his rough body shape.
I immediately reported everything to the police and also gave them the surveillance footage
When my dad came back and learned about it, he was shocked and angry, but now all we could do was wait for the police to investigate.
“Dad, I want to move to another place “I suddenly said to my dad.
“What’s wrong? Is Neil bothering you? My dad immediately asked.
I shook my head. “No. Sunflower Terrace is closer to the office, so I want to move there.”
My dad was retiring after his birthday next month. Before that, he still needed to hold his position. The company still largely depended on me.
He thought for a moment and then sighed, “Alright. I’m also planning to stay in the dormitory at work. It feels empty at home without your mom.”
“Okay. Take care of yourself. Mom will wake up sooner or later. We still need to take care of her then.” I reminded him.
“Sure.” My dad nodded.
After discussing things with my dad, I quickly moved my stuff to Sunflower Terrace. Neil was not home the day I moved, which saved me a lot of trouble. The day before my business trip, I invited Russel to dine at my apartment.
He readily agreed, 1l be there around eight; is that okay?”
*Sure. We’re having barbecue.” I replied.
This was the first time I asked Russel out. He sounded thrilled
I went to the supermarket and bought many ingredients. In the evening, I started preparing. I washed and packed the ingredients, set up the grill, and brought out various seasonings and drinks.
Suddenly, it started raining outside. Cold wind started to blow in from the balcony, and I ran to close the balcony door but unintentionally remembered the stormy night in Caladonia when Neil helped me close the balcony door.
I seem to have become more and more sentimental lately When I faced difficulties, I felt everything was oppressive, so I immersed myself in memories.
Eight o’clock came, but Russel still hadn’t arrived.
I dialed his number, but he didnt answer.
I waited until half past nine, but Russel still hadnt shown up or answered my calls or texts. I sighed deeply and then called Alicia, “Come to my place for a barbecue.’
Tm working overtime!” Alicia helplessly responded.
“Alright.” I felt even more helpless. After hanging up, I was about to clean up the table. I had no appetite to eat barbecue alone.
Just then, the doorbell rang. I thought Russel had rushed over, so my mood improved a bit. I immediately went to open the door.
But it was Nel standing outside.
Neil was slightly drenched, his hair was damp, and there were drops of water on his black sweater. He brought a cool autumn breeze.
“You moved here again? Are you deliberately avoiding me?” Neil walked into the living room dominantly. He looked at the ingredients and grill on the table, “You’re waiting for Russel, aren’t you?”
I didn’t answer him but silently started cleaning the table.
“He didn’t come?” He asked again.
“What are you doing here?” I asked coldly, holding a plate of steak.
Neil took out several tissues from the table and casually wiped the rain off his face, then said casually. “Of course, to see you. Your house has been dark for several days”
I really didn’t know why he was looking for me.
I headed towards the kitchen, “Now that you’ve found me, you can leave.”
Neil followed me. My apartment was small and perfect for one person. I liked this cozy little space when I was a college student.
My kitchen was also small. Neil’s tall frame made the kitchen seem even smaller when he stepped in
When I turned around to leave, I found the kitchen door almost completely blocked by him.
“I told you that I won’t give up. So no matter where you are, I ll find you until you come back to me.” Neil looked down at me as he spoke in his firm tone. “You have Bonnie, Scarlett, and now Kitty. You already have so many women; isn’t that enough?” I said sarcastically.
Neil frowned, “What does that have to do with us? I don’t like them.”
“Don’t you find it ironic? You used to have feelings for Bonnie, you had scandals with Scarlett, and now you and Kitty get along well. Yet you say you don’t like them?” | laughed.
“I didn’t know where my heart was before, so I made some mistakes. I can change.” Neil said seriously
I shook my head, “I don’t need it. I’ve told you many times that I don’t need you to change or compensate. I just want you to stay away from me!” Neil immediately turned cold
“Bonnie killed our child! Why are you still entangled with her? You are even planning to get engaged?! Neil, do you have a conscience? Do you really know how to love someone?”
My words left Neil speechless. A flash of regret and helplessness flickered in his eyes, but he didn’t utter a word.
Even if he was out to get back at me or piss me off, he had no business messing around with Bonnie.
I pushed Neil’s arm away. “Move, will ya? I still got stuff to pack,”
Neil sidestepped. He followed me out when I left the kitchen.
Suddenly, Russel appeared at the apartment entrance, rushing over in a hurry. After spotting Neil and me in the living room, he froze in his tracks.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
