Chapter 36
Nydia suddenly burst into laughter and said firmly, “No.”
Jesse was taken aback as he watched her slowly tear up the divorce agreement. After throwing the pieces of paper into the trash, she leaned forward with her hands on the table.
“Jesse, I don’t want to divorce you, remember? Let me say it again, I don’t want to divorce you.”
Without waiting for his response, she lifted his chin with her index finger, gave him a quick kiss on the lips, and then stepped back to stand up straight.
“Good night, dear.”
And with that, she left the study, leaving Jesse stunned. He reached up to touch his lips, which still carried the faint scent of peach water, and felt the warmth from her kiss. He looked at the torn agreement in the trash and instead of getting angry, he found himself smiling.
No one knew better than he did how determined Nydia had been to get a divorce. But when the opportunity presented itself, she didn’t take it and even said that she didn’t want to divorce him. Could she have really changed? Could he try to believe in her? He pushed these thoughts aside and refocused on his work.
Losing the contract with the government would be a loss for the company, but he had prepared for this possibility. With quick planning and arrangements, the company would not only avoid losses but also potentially gain more.
Meanwhile, Nydia had returned to her room. The hacker her teacher had found had sent her the surveillance footage she needed.
Her teacher called her on the phone. “My apprentice, all the surveillance footage you requested had been deleted, but he managed to recover it for you.”
“Thank you, teacher. You really helped me out a lot.”
“It’s nothing. When I return to the country, I’m going to test your cooking. If I’m not satisfied, you’re done for.”
“When are you coming back, teacher?”
“Scared?”
“No, it’s just that I miss you, teacher.”
“I’ll tell you when I get back, for now, bye.”
After hanging up, Nydia immediately checked the surveillance video.
The footage clearly showed the person who picked up Tavish and threw him into the lake. They were around 1. 7 meters tall, wearing a black hat. In some of the footage, their face wasn’t clear, but Nydia had requested more comprehensive footage, so in other parts, their face was visible. She immediately took a screenshot.
As for the other person, it wasn’t easy to spot unless you looked carefully. They had been hiding in the lake for a long time, waiting for Nydia to jump in.
After watching the footage several times, Nydia finally noticed someone who appeared to be slightly wet, leaving wet footprints behind. This person was around 1. 75 meters tall, with a large build and a scar on their nose. Their mouth seemed to protrude slightly. When she zoomed in, she could see scratch marks on their neck. Nydia thought that she must have scratched them when she was struggling, so there was no doubt that this was the person.
She contacted a hacker and offered to pay for their help in finding information and addresses for these two people. If this matter was indeed related to Willette, she could go and talk to her to get some information.
But she didn’t expect Willette to come and find her instead, directly to the Pascall Villa. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“Madam, Miss Malone is here.” Nydia had been doing well at the Pascall Villa recently, and the staff were slowly starting to change their opinion of her, but they still kept their guard up.
“Let her in.”
When Willette walked in, Nydia was taken aback because she looked much older and haggard.
“Sister, what’s wrong? What happened? You look like you’ve aged five years in an instant.”
