Chapter 1448
The Rolls Loyce stopped at the Royal Mansion.
Anne got out of the car, looked around, and found that everything was still familiar to her. The place had not changed at all.
The pain in her heart caused her breathing to become slightly labored.
After all, it held too many memories of her struggles, pains, and…emotions.
“Go in.” Anthony stood beside her, staring at her for a moment before speaking.
After Anne followed his instructions and went inside, Hayden stepped forward to greet her, appearing very excited. “Mr. Marwood…Mrs. Marwood is back!”
It seemed that the Royal Mansion had received news that Anne was still alive in advance.
‘Mrs. Marwood.’ Anne felt her heart throbbing at that title, but her face remained expressionless. “Hayden, it’s been a long time.”
“Yes, it’s been almost two years. It’s great to see Mrs. Marwood again!” Hayden had tears in his eyes.
“Where are the children?” Anne looked around and did not see the triplets. Her eyes were full of
eagerness.
“The children went to the forest today. They said it was an assignment from their teacher, and they were going to look for some insects,” Hayden explained.
Anthony had many pieces of land, and Anne could not visit them all.
She only returned for the children, but she could not see them now. She could not believe that Anthony did not prepare for this.
“Stay here first. The children will be back tomorrow.” Anthony hid his true intentions and watched the expression on her face.
Anne looked at him and said, “I hope so.” After saying that, she went upstairs. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Of course, she did not go to the master bedroom that she and Anthony used to share but to another room that used to belong to her.
Nothing had changed.
It was as if she had never left.
Standing on the balcony, Anne stayed there for one night with the mentality that if she returned, she would be safe.
She was now skilled enough to protect herself but still harbored some fear of Anthony.
She remembered how Anthony’s forces had driven Lilian to despair, and she had nowhere to go.
So, she grabbed her phone and called Yuri to say, “I won’t be coming today.”
“What’s holding you up?”
“Anthony found me, and now I’m at his place. I’m waiting to see the kids before I leave.”
“Since you are close to the children, you might as well have a good talk with them.”
“I understand.”
It was a hopeful plan, but it was difficult to execute.
She knew Anthony’s style too well.
Anne, sensing the slight movement outside the bedroom, would not have been so attuned to it before.
Anthony entered the bedroom and saw Anne standing on the balcony, hands in her pockets, with an indifferent expression.
She was neither happy nor unhappy.
“Even though this isn’t my home, I hope you will respect me while I’m here for the night. It shouldn’t be difficult for you to knock before you enter,” Anne spoke bluntly.
“I’m not a bad person, so don’t be so guarded around me.”
Anne was momentarily confused by what he said. Was she being too sensitive?
His slender figure approached as she was still thinking, causing her eyes to tremble.
“You have changed,” the hoarse voice said with certainty.
Anne knew that her demeanor had changed greatly from before.
She was no longer innocent after going through the training.
Her hands were covered in blood…
“What happened? Can you tell me?” Anthony asked gently.
