Our Luna, Our Mate
126
Chapter Alex's POV
It's late into the evening when everyone has managed to calm down after the phone call with Tobias. Emotions running high after listening to him talk the way he did about Athena. Almost like she was a possession, a pawn and not someone who was human. 'They all need to die' growls Elstan, my Lycan Wolf.
'I know. And they will in due time. Because no one and I mean no one talks poorly about my family and lives to tell about it. Especially after telling someone that she's a curse. Because my niece is no curse but a blessing and I won't have Tobias or any of the other Councilors bad talk to her in any way' I move to say back to Elstan.
My rage growing with each passing second because not many people knew about my family's history or of the hardships we each had to face to get to where we were. No. Because between Rick and I not being able to find our mates to our brother, Ryder dying at the hands of Ezra and his band of Rogues, not many people knew that Luna Selene had struggled many times in trying to conceive Athena.
And while Athena is a blessing sent by the Moon Goddess herself, Selene and Ryder had almost given up hope. A hope that I prayed to the Goddess on many occasions that she would bless my brother and his mate with that of a child and not let some curse that was placed upon Selene stop them from trying to conceive.
These were the sacrifices that I had to make in order for my family to thrive and these are the sacrifices that I'll continue to make if it means that Athena and her family will continue to live and thrive as a whole.
No more, I think, only to pause. Having been walking around the pack grounds for most of the evening in hopes of trying to clear my mind, glad that Ares and Eros had managed to convince Athena into staying the night at the Capital so she would not have to return home to a bunch of angry wolves.
Sniffing the air around me, I slowly began to pick up the faint scent of wildflowers and clove as well as a faint hint of honey, a few of my favorite scents as I continued to just sniff the air around me.
"The scent is close' whispers Elstan, his tail beginning to wag as the scent drew closer to us.
'Easy boy, don't get too crazy' I tell him, knowing that this scent was affecting him just as much as it was affecting me, A scent that was instantly calming to one's senses while giving me the urge to protect it
With my eyes still searching, I continue to follow with my nose until suddenly I see it. Standing mere feet away from me was that of a Rogue. Male. Standing 6'0 in height while holding an injured woman with fiery red hair. Her body bandaged to keep from bleeding out. Studying the girl within his arms, do I slowly hear Elstan whine. As if in pain as we slowly move to approach the Rogue. The scent now coming off the unconscious female who laid within his arms, Elstan pacing dangerously fast. 'MATE!' cries Elstan, causing me to pause.
'What?' I ask, wanting to play it safe as we had gone this long without mate only for her to appear now.
'MATE! Mate hurt! We need Mate NOW!'
Shifting my focus back over to the Rogue I can't help but growl, causing him to pause in whatever it was that he was doing. My eyes still watching the wolf before me as he continued to hold my mate. Another growl rising. Deeper than normal. "MATE" I growl, my eyes now on the girl who laid before me. The Rogue suddenly realizing whose mate she belonged to based on his expression and my reaction.
Frowning, I move to approach him, my eyes now narrowing the closer I get to him, my arms out to him as I move to speak. "Mate... NOW!" I ordered.
Hesitating, the Rogue moves to look at the unconscious woman before moving to look at me yet again. Elstan now fighting for control of my body.
"MATE! NOW!" I ordered again. Not one to ask a third time as the male moves to hand her over to me, sparks instantly shooting up and along my arms the moment I touch her, Elstan howling happily within my head like a little puppy. "Mate" I whisper softly. Finally, after years of searching, years of waiting, the Moon Goddess had finally given me and my brother mates to
call our own.
Returning my focus back towards the Rogue I move to ask him a direct question. "What happened? Did you do this?"
"What? NO! She came back to me like this" replies the Rogue as if defending his honor by denying the damage that had been done to my mate.
Frowning again, I move to take her back to my house, my eyes glancing to the Rogue once more before speaking. "Follow me or get caught by the Pack Warriors and be thrown in the dungeons" I say, knowing that someone would eventually find him as he reeked of Rogue even though he didn't look like a Rogue.
The need to protect him as well even though he wasn't my mate but maybe a friend to her and knew I couldn't risk upsetting my mate, so I did what any mate would do and that was offer him a place to stay and ask that he follow me.
Sensing his hesitation again, do I move to turn towards him again. "Look... I'm offering you a safe place for the night. You saved my mate's life by bringing her here. The least I can do for you is offer you room and board until morning so you don't get caught by the patrol wolves. After that you're free to leave or you can stay, but that would be up to you if you did."
Weighing his options, he moves to speak up. "Thank you, your Majesty."
Blinking, I was not aware that he knew of who I was. For most Rogues didn't, which now left me to believe that this wolf wasn't just a Rogue but maybe from a pack at some point in his life.
"What's your name?" I ask, my eyes arched in a question as I continue to stare at the wolf before me.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
"Kade. Kade Stone. Your Majesty" answers Kade, his eyes now holding my own as he spoke. His voice firm as he did.
"Kade?" I ask, just to make sure I had heard him correctly.
"Yes" replies Kade with a nod of his head.
"Follow me then Kade. I have much to ask of you" was all I said to him as we moved to head for my home. The name oddly familiar to me as if I had heard it before.
30 Minutes Later
When finally approaching my home I couldn't help but wonder about the strange man who had followed me, his name a constant reminder of someone that I might have known once in my life but could not place the name to a face,
"Here we are, home sweet home" I chime, my free hand moving to open the door to the house before moving to enter only to pause long enough to make sure that he was still following me.
"Well? What are you waiting for? Come in already" I tell him, noticing he had yet to enter the house. Sighing, Kade finally does as he's told and enters behind me, his eyes slowly looking around the place as move to lay my mate down on the couch within the living room. "Watch her. I'll be right back, I just need to get the first aid kit" was all managed to say as I moved to leave the room. Kade moving to sit down next to my mate as he did, another sigh leaving his lips as he spoke. "Rosalyn, I'm sorry. I should have gone with you. Instead I stayed behind. But mark my words that bitch Lily will pay dearly for this".
growls Kade unaware that I had returned only seconds before hand with the first aid kit, Elstan and I having heard everything he had just said. Our blood boiling at the mention of Lily.
"WHAT?!" I roar, startling Kade as I did. His eyes now locking with mine as I move to enter the room. "Start talking, NOW."
Nodding his head, does Kade slowly begin to tell me everything. Knowing that if he didn't I would be even angrier. That bitch will pay for this, I growl to myself, promising to make sure that Lily got what she deserved. Chapter Comments
