ORTEGA: THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE

Chapter 21: Another Evil Plan Against Ortega

Derrick kicked the decapitated werewolf aside and he turned around to look at Ortega’s unconscious body on the ground.

She was half naked. Her skirt and panties had been torn off by the men who wanted to rape her.

Derrick growled lowly when he remembered how the five men were assaulting her.

Actually, he heard her screaming for help and that was how he located her.

Derrick and his friend, Slade walked out of a club, talking.

Ramos was standing by the door of a Rolls Royce to usher Derrick in.

“Thanks for coming, man.” Derrick said as they walked to his the Rolls. “It was nice talking to you.”

“Yeah. See you on your wedding day.” Slade joked, and Derrick glared playfully at him.

“Goodnight man.” Slade patted his shoulder before walking to his car which was parked so meters away from the club. He entered inside his car and drive off.

Derrick was about to enter the Rolls Royce when he heard someone screaming for help. The voice sounded very familiar.

“Stay here, Ramos. I’ll be right back.” Derrick said to Ramos before walking away.

He walked down across a dark alleyway and he saw some men trying to rape a lady. He could see clearly in the dark because of his wolf abilities.

His blood started boiling when he saw the face of the lady the men were assaulting.

He sped towards the man who was about to start raping Ortega and he kicked the man away from her.

He also dealt with the rest of the men and that’s how he rescued Ortega.

He walked to her and he took off his dark coat to cover her body before carrying her in his arms.

He walked back to the club where Ramos was waiting for him. Ramos was surprised to see Ortega, and he immediately opened ty backseat door

He placed Ortega in the backseat of the car and he also beside her. Ramos shut the door and he got behind the wheels, then drove off to the palace.

Derrick stared down at Ortega’s face and he frowned when he saw the briuse on her cheeks.

He moved his hand to her face and he gently rubbed her face with his thumb.

He felt a strange feeling when he touched her face. He quickly retracted his hand from her face.

“Derrick, did you feel something?” Rufus, his wolf, asked inside his head.

“No.” Derrick replied and looked out the window.

“I know you felt something when you touched her face, Derrick.” Rufus said.

“I felt nothing.” Derrick replied.

“You can continue lying to yourself, but here’s a high possibility that she is your mate, Derrick.”

“We’ve had this conversation before, Rufus. The human is not my mate and she never will.” Derrick replied and shut Rufus off his mind.

After an hour drive finally got to the palace.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

The car drove into the big compound and pulled up in the car shed. Ramos came down from the car to open the door for Derrick.

Derrick stepped out of the vehicle.

“Take her to the royal clinic and tell Agatha to take care of her wounds.” Derrick instructed.

Ramos carried Ortega from the backseat of the car and he walked off to the royal clinic.

Derrick couldn’t help but to wonder why she left the palace, then he started doing the mathematics in his head.

The guards would never open the gates for Ortega if she didn’t have a confirmation card, so the means she had a confirmation card with her.

The only people who had access to the confirmation card were the head of different departments in the palace.

So if Ortega had a confirmation card with her, that means she was sent on an errand by the head of a department.

Ortega was in the maids department so the head maid must have sent her on an errand.

Derrick finished doing the mathematics in his head and he signaled at one of the guards. The guard walked briskly to him and he bowed respectfully.

“Go to the head maid and tell her to come to my chamber in two minutes.” He ordered, and the guard bowed again before walking away.

Derrick turned around and walked inside the palace. The maids had retired to bed so the guards were the only ones inside the palace. They were positioned at each corner of the Palace.

Derrick walked straight to his chamber and he took off his suit jacket. He fetched out a box of cigarette from his pocket and he took out one; clamped it with his lips before lighting it.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

He heard a knock on the door.

“Come in.” He stated, as he took a long drag from the cigarette.

The door opened and the head maid, Pamela walked inside the chamber, shutting the door behind her.

“Greetings, alpha Derrick.” She greeted, bowing her head in respect.

“Why did you send Ortega on an errand at this hour?” Derrick asked, ignoring her greeting.

“Ortega? The human?” Pamela asked in confusion.

“Yes, why did you send her on an errand when you know it’s late?” Derrick repeated.

“I didn’t send Ortega on any errand, alpha.” Pamela shook her head negatively.

“You didn’t?” Derrick raised a questioning brow at her.

“Yes alpha.” Pamela nodded. “I didn’t. The last time I spoke to Ortega was in the evening when she was working with me in the kitchen.” She added.

“Then who did?” Derrick asked. “Who sent her on am errand at this hour?”

“Maybe Draco did.” Pamela said.

“Why would the head guard send a maid on an errand when there are hundreds of guards in the palace?” Derrick replied.

Pamela kept quiet and she lowered her head.

“If none of the people with access to the confirmation card sent Ortega on an errand, then how did she get the confirmation card that gave her the free passage out of palace?” Derrick asked.

“I don’t know.” Pamela shook her head negatively.

“Maybe she stole the confirmation card to escape from the palace.” Derrick said, taking a long puff from his cigarette.

“I have known Ortega for a few days, alpha, and I know that she is not capable of doing something like that.” Pamela defended Ortega. “But if she truly stole the confirmation card, then someone must have surely helped her ’cause she ain’t capable enough to pull off such dangerous stunt.” She added.

“Who do you think helped her in stealing the confirmation card?” Derrick asked.

“We are not sure if she really stole the confirmation card, but she has a close friend among the maids and they are really close to each other.” Pamela replied.

“Go and bring her here for me.” Derrick ordered.

Pamela bowed her head before turning around, then she walked out of the chamber.

‘I must get to the bottom of this matter.’ Derrick said in his mind as he puffed out a huge amount of smoke from his mouth.
