Chapter 685
Chapter 685
Jackson lowered his head and gazed at her leaning on his shoulder. If she knew the truth, he wondered…. if she would still think the same about meeting him.
Probably not.
When Serenity was sound asleep, he gently picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. After placing her softly on the bed, he gently stroked her face and ran his fingers through her hair.
“Serenity, everything ends here, okay?”
The truth of the case shall end here. As for her past with Lucas, that too ends here.
No more pursuing these two matters. It was for the best.
The sudden overturning of Serenity’s conviction caught the internet by storm thanks to the reporters.
For a while, a heated discussion went on.
Back then, Serenity was merely a rookie attorney who was falsely accused and convicted of a crime she didn’t commit. The discussion focused more on her ex–boyfriend, Zeke, and his current girlfriend, Jenny.
The reporter who had broken the news had gone and interviewed Jenny about it, yet she wasn’t even aware of the court’s decision. What’s more, she didn’t express any opinions upon learning of the truth.
That prompted internet users to bombard Jenny’s social media for her opinion on the overturning of Serenity’s conviction.
Some even took clips from the press conference when Jenny declared that she would never forgive Serenity or the variety of nasty comments she had made about her and shared them around the internet.
Subsequently, Jenny issued a public statement that she had only learned of Serenity’s wrongful conviction and clarified that she had only made those statements because of the court’s decision. She also indicated that she was willing to apologize to Serenity for the words she had said.
Then, Jenny released a video of her public apology. It was a short video of her saying to the camera, “Serenity, I apologize for the statements and remarks I made about you.”
Apart from that, she said nothing more.
Many thought that her apology was too simple.
A part of the crowd thought that since Serenity had been innocent all this while, what Jenny had done was tantamount to stealing someone’s romantic partner. They even went as far as to attack her for being cruel and kicking someone while they were down.
On the other hand, Jenny’s fans defended her adamantly. If anything, these people should blame the people who had issued the wrong judgment, false witnesses, and Yuri Volkov, not Jenny.
In short, the debate on the internet was rather passionate.
There were some people who asked Zeke online if he would choose Serenity again now that she was proven innocent.
Zeke responded personally to these questions. “These things happened in the past. I just want to cherish what I have in the
present.”
It was only after reading the news that Lisa found out her best friend had been acquitted. Without delay, she rang up her friend. “Why didn’t you tell me about your acquittal?!”
“Didn’t I ask to meet up tomorrow? I was planning to break it to you then!” replied Serenity.
“Well, you should’ve said it sooner! If it weren’t for the news, I wouldn’t even know about it!”
“I’m worried that your happiness will be in vain if it doesn’t work out in the end.”
Serenity knew how much Lisa had done for her, so she didn’t want to trouble her anymore with her own affairs.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
