Chapter 474
Chapter 474
“Are you done seeing your grandma?” Jackson asked.
“She’s still sleeping,” replied Serenity. “I don’t want to disturb her, so I’ll just wait here for now.”
As she spoke, she saw her cousin, Lynette, approaching them with two cups of tea, which were then placed in front of her and Jackson.
Lynette then offered, “Have some tea, Serenity!”
A look of surprise flashed in Serenity’s eyes. All her life, whenever she came here, Lynette had never bothered to offer her any beverages at all.
“Say, Serenity, why don’t you introduce this gentleman you’ve brought with you to us?”
It was Aunt Theresa who uttered those words, albeit with a tone laced with bitterness.
“This is Jack,” said Serenity. “He’s my boyfriend.”
Serenity was careful not to reveal Jackson’s full name for fear that her relatives would cause trouble if they found out who he really was. All she wanted now was for her grandmother to live in peace as she neared the end of her life.
“Boyfriend?!” Lynette exclaimed in surprise. “Impossible!”
Lynette’s tone suggested that she regarded what she had just heard from Serenity as nothing more than a joke, © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Jackson narrowed his eyes and scowled menacingly at Lynette. She immediately felt like she had been thrown into a freezer- it gave her a chill so unbearably cold that she could feel it in her bones.
“What’s so impossible about it?” Jackson asked casually
Lynette smiled awkwardly and replied, “N–Nothing… I just never thought that after having been in prison, Serenity would manage to find a boyfriend so soon after she was released. It just seemed… so quick to me.”
Those words concealed a sinister intention, of course. Lynette was deliberately trying to bring up the fact that Serenity used to be in prison. After all, she firmly believed that Serenity must have hidden the truth from this man, and that was probably the only reason why he had agreed to be her boyfriend.
Still, Serenity naturally saw through Lynette’s ruse. How could she not? Nevertheless, she realized that this was probably the first time she felt no embarrassment at all after being exposed for having been in prison.
Perhaps it was because the man beside hier was Jackson and he knew everything about her anyway.
The look Jackson gave Lynette turned even more menacing. Even his face was covered with a thin veil of rage. But all this disappeared within a few seconds, and his lips curled into a smile before he answered, “So what? I wished for nothing more than for Serenity to be my girlfriend. In fact, I was in total bliss for a few days after she agreed to date ineTM
He actually meant each of those words sincerely. When Serenity had finally agreed to be his girlfriend, he really was happier than be had been in ages! He finally realized how happy a man could be when they finally got the treasure that they had been dreaming of
Lynette was dumbfounded. So, Jackson not only knew that Serenity used to be in prison, but he even felt that being her boyfriend was… what he wished for the most!
How could anyone feel that way about a woman who had been in prison?!
But even if Lynette felt that way, she dared not voice her thights at the moment because although this man called Jack was smiling at her, the look he gave her was actually so frighteningly cold that she was beginning to pet restless.
