Chapter 410
“Why didn’t you turn on the lights?” Serenity asked, feeling that something was off.
Jackson simply avoided her question and murmured, “I missed you.”
Serenity’s face flushed red, her heart racing. She was glad for the dark surroundings and hid her red face in the darkness.
“What about you? Did you miss me today?” His deep voice resonated through her, his breath brushing the nape of her neck.
All her attention shifted to the nape of her neck. She could feel his breath, and his lips were close to her, almost kissing her ear. In a daze, she felt a tickle of pain on her earlobe. She jolted to her senses, her face bright crimson. Jackson was nibbling her ear!
“Did ou miss me?” His low murmur rang again,

“Yes…” she almost stammered. “Uh.. Let me go. I’ll put my bag away,” she said unsteadily.
She could barely breathe, and the air that hung there between them was too much for her to handle.
He did not oblige, still holding her in his embrace. Instead, he probed for her answer. “Do you love me?
His question stunned her. Love seemed like a deep word. Was she in love with him?
Serenity took a deep breath and answered frankly, “I do… fancy you.” Yes. She liked him enough, but her feelings for him were not as deep as love,
Serenity considered love sacred. Love was loyal and lasting. Saying that she loved him would be untruthful. She did not want to force herself to speak against her will Although, her current answer might not be the one he wanted.
Serenity assumed Jackson would be upset at her answer. He might even insist that Serenity change her mind. But strangely enough, he just held her and said in a whisper, “But… I love you, Serenity.”
“I love you so much. I don’t know what I’d do if I lose you one day. Life seems meaningless without you. I want to grow old with you. I love you so much that… My emotions are out of control.”
His voice rumbled right through her like a warm spring breeze,
Serenity froze, overwhelmed by his confession. What was he saying? Did he just confess his love to her? Did he love her that much?! How could that be?!
Serenity’s first reaction was denial. She thought this might just be his sweet talk, but another voice in her heart refuted it.
A man like him had no reason to sweet–talk her. It seemed out of character. However, his words seemed like a true confession, and his emotions were open for her to read without any secret.
Jackson’s love for her seemed deeper than what she had thought. Even though he said he loved her, she assumed his love for her was nothing more than an infatuation.
