Chapter 66: Demi's Rebuttal
Melissa's POV
As long as she was willing to sincerely repent and genuinely help Sebastian, I would also welcome her into our family with open arms.
I hadn't expected Sebastian to accept my history with Atrias Elliotson. I couldn't help but wonder about Atrias's true feelings-whether he was doing well now, whether he had truly

But he didn't seem like a man who would lie, and I didn't want to appear as someone who had been deceived.
"Be with me."
Sebastian's voice echoed in my mind. I stepped into the bathroom, shedding my clothes as he carefully helped me wash my body.
"For the next while, we can't take baths together," he said seriously, "not until ten months later, when you safely bring our child into the world."
I often worry that his doting might spoil me, making me too reliant on his indulgence.
After a restful night, the two of us walked downstairs hand in hand to have breakfast. Upon learning of my pregnancy, Kala and Phoebe offered their congratulations. Phoebe seemed moved, but she appeared more sorrowful for herself.
"Perhaps I'll never have the chance to meet a lover or my fated one," she murmured.
Hearing this, I gently touched her hand, reassuring her that she would and encouraging her not to lose hope.
Today, we had an important agenda ahead.
We were heading to the Assembly Hall for the collective trial of Winnie Harold.
Just as we were about to leave, Debra suddenly appeared. Kala and Phoebe instinctively shielded me, worried that she might make me uncomfortable.
I wasn't sure how to face her, but for Sebastian's sake, I resolved to treat her politely.
"Good morning, Melissa. Did you sleep well last night?" she asked calmly, her tone warm and composed.
I nodded and smiled politely. "Very well, Debra."
"Congratulations! I heard I'm going to be a grandmother. This is wonderful news for the
North."

She seemed genuinely happy for us, but I only returned a faint smile, unsure of what to
say.
Noticing her attempt to step closer, Kala's eyes filled with caution.
Debra, catching on, didn't press further. Instead, she offered an awkward smile.
"I'll go rest now. We can have a nice talk when you return."
In her gaze, I saw a mixture of pleading and apology. Even so, I wasn't ready to be alone in a room with her.
I knew Sebastian might feel uneasy about the situation as well, so I only responded to her politely.
"As long as your talk doesn't involve any slander against Luna or us, and you don't act in a way that harms her, he will consider it," Kala directly expressed her dissatisfaction, clearly wary of her suddenly losing control and charging at me. Debra looked at her, bowed slightly, then said earnestly, "I apologize for saying such hurtful things before. Please believe me, I won't do so again."
She didn't seem like the kind of person who would go back on her word, but Kala remained cautious, still skeptical about what she had said.
Sebastian, on the other hand, simply shrugged, indifferent.
Not wanting to cause him any more trouble, I decided to accept Debra's apology.
Right now, she needed something from us. As long as she could provide valuable information and answer our questions truthfully, that would be enough.
Since today's event was an official occasion, Sebastian, as Alpha, had a driver
accompanying us. During the entire ride, he held my hand tightly, as though afraid that letting go would make me vanish.
"What's wrong?" I asked, noticing how unusually tense he seemed, lacking his usual relaxed demeanor.
"Nothing. I just want to hold your hand," he replied. "I still can't quite believe
you chose me over your fated mate. You've proven to me that true love really exists in this world."
His words were so sincere, and his gaze so focused, that I felt a little shy.
"I hesitated for a long time before deciding to tell you. I was worried you'd be angry me!"

To be honest, the current situation was beyond anything I'd imagined. I'd almost thought that after learning the truth, Sebastian would throw me into a cell and leave me to rot.
"Actually, I wasn't shouting out of anger yesterday, my dearest Melissa. I was terrified. Ever since you mentioned regeiving that letter, I've been worried-worried that it might be Elliott or Atrias pursuing you again. I was so afraid they'd take you away from me. But 87.3%

then you surprised me, and it put my heart at ease. As he spoke, he gently touched my belly.
"I want to marry you as soon as possible, but I won't rush the wedding. I also want to mark you, to make you mine completely. I want us to be connected in every way, in every space we share. Melissa, I want you to enter my being, and I'm willing to share my soul with you. The Moon Goddess will bear witness to my words. When I mark you, I will be completely yours."
With that, he kissed my lips passionately, and I responded with equal fervor.
When we arrived at the Assembly Hall, they respectfully prepared a private box for Sebastian. Everyone was already there, waiting for us.
Martell and Kala seemed to have grown even closer than before their relationship began.
Basil's sudden public appearance revealed to many that they had walked into a trap. The earlier claims of the Beta being critically injured and comatose were nothing more than bait laid out by the Alpha to unmask the conspirators.
Phoebe waved at me excitedly, having already prepared a seat with a cushion as if she had been waiting for my arrival.
At the center of the council chamber sat Winnie Harold, visibly shattered and on the brink of breakdown. Not far away, Geraint appeared calm and composed, as though these events didn't concern him in the slightest.
As for Elder Edgar, his face was filled with fury; it seemed like he had many things to say but Sebastian had no intention of giving him the chance.
I knew that Elder Edgar shouldn't have been in that position, but it was clear that Alpha deliberately wanted to humiliate him.
His actions made sense, though, because he was trying to poison me.
It was clear that Sebastian's goal today was to root out the "parasites" within the Council and bring about a complete overhaul.
Ethan Vrzogic greeted us, and just as he was about to stand up, a female council member rose to her feet.
"Good day, Alpha! I am the spokesperson of the Council, Demi Aniston. I stand before you today to represent the Council and inform you that your actions today, as well as the tasks you have assigned to Mr. Ethan Vrzogic, have exceeded your authority." Demi Aniston's words were met with stunned silence from everyone in the room, including Sebastian.

"Civil and criminal cases are under the jurisdiction of our council. However, you abused your ALPHA powers, detaining suspects and prisoners, and chosen to personally involve yourself in the case. Our council has the right to demand that you step aside. We hope you will accept our proposal and observe while we handle the case."

Her bold statement even earned my respect, but Sebastian remained calm, not angry. raised his hand, signaling for her to sit down, and then spoke with the authority of an Alpha:

"First, tell me the findings of you useless lot. I will consider whether to respond to your request afterward."
His calm tone made the council members, who had been referred to as "useless lot," visibly uncomfortable.

"Do you think this matter needs to be investigated further?" Demi Aniston stood and directly retorted.
I couldn't stand her tone.
"What more do you need to know? Winnie Harold has already confessed that she caused all this herself. She only wanted to take Luna's place-her jealousy and anger clouded her judgment, which is why she sneaked into your office! Since she has confessed, there's no need to drag this out. All that's left is to pass judgment!"
As she spoke, I could feel Sebastian's growing anger.
