Jack's lips trembled as he started to doubt his earlier judgment. He had thought that the pond was the training ground, but he was hesitating at that moment.

The training ground was a place for warriors to improve their understanding, and not meant to hurt warriors. Everything that touched the pond seemed to be dissolved instantly. Jack even started to wonder if his whole body and soul would be dissolved if he stepped inside.
