Chapter 647
Chapter 647
"Weren't you there when they cremated him? It must be a coincidence," Dustin said as he hung up the phone, his gaze returning to the girl on the Ferris wheel.
I hung out up there until the final few tourists had cleared out and the lights had faded into the night's snooze, then I got down from the Ferris wheel.
Dustin was still waiting for me, coming over to help me down.
His eyes settled on my face, as if trying to read my mood.
But I had already vented all my emotions up there; now, I was back to my usual self.
"It's getting late, let's go," he said to me.
Walking out of the amusement park with him, I asked, "Dustin, tell me about Deborah's news."
"She's in Goldbridge. You should contact her for more details," Dustin replied cautiously.
Pulling out his phone, he sent me a message, "I've sent you her new number and address."
"Thanks, Dustin!" I said, turning to leave.
"Felicia," Dustin called after me, his eyes dark and unreadable, ".....take care."
I could tell he wanted to say more than those four words, but I just nodded, pretending not to understand, and walked away.
The amusement park, a hotspot for social media, had witnessed a major incident, instantly trending, and somehow, I was dragged into the limelight too.
But my trending topic had nothing to do with the amusement park; it was about me hooking up in a bar, complete with a video shot as if from a hidden
camera.
Clearly, someone had intentionally filmed me and leaked it online to tarnish my reputation.
I wasn't bothered, what I do is my business, and I had even mentioned wanting to go public about it to Fanny the other day.
But even though I might choose to put myself out there, I ain't gonna let others play me.
Finding the culprit was easy; a trip to the bar was all it took.
When Haley stood before me, I was genuinely taken aback. The woman was working there as a hostess.
"Ms. Hudson, how you deal with her
is up to you. Our bar won't cover for
her or interfere, and we won't be employing her again," the bar
manager declared, eager to distance himself from any trouble.
"As if I need your job," Haley retorted, her words rough and arrogant.
Gone were her poise and pride, replaced by the demeanor of a woman weathered by life's storms.
It's fascinating how one moment can change everything. If she had just lived a simple life with Aiden Martin, even without wealth, they could have been content. Instead, she chose this path.
"Do whatever you want," Haley said to me, unafraid and defiant.
"Do you regret it?" I asked her.
Haley laughed mockingly, "Why should I regret? I've always aimed for a better life. What's wrong with that?"
She still saw no fault in her choices.
"A person with ill intentions will never get what they desire," I said, standing up to leave.
She was beyond reason, not worth my words, but I couldn't let her get away with this. So, I warned her.
"Haley, you couldn't mess with me
before, and you sure can't now. I'm letting you off this time because, well, we're both women. But if
there's a next time, I won't beso
kind."
She scoffed, dismissing my warning.
I left with a faint smile, thinking of Haley's predicament and her child, seven months along last I knew. I wondered how the kid was doing now.
I knew where Aiden used to live; I had been there before with Conrad. So, I drove there.
And by chance, I ran into Aiden's parents in the complex, but their grandchild was nowhere in sight.
They wouldn't leave such a young child alone, which made me anxious. Where was the kid?Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Unable to contain my worry, I approached them, "Excuse me, where's the little one?"
